This is the most disgusting chinese food in astoria. Ordered the sesame chicken through seamless and what was delivered seem like pork chunks in a sesame chicken shell. Absolutely sickening.

Best fried chicken wings in Astoria. Thank me later. I have no clue why, but this is a hidden gem for sure.

Late hours make lazy nights excusable! The prices have increased slightly over the years and I’m disappointed that there are still no sweet bananas on the menu but wah lung is a neighborhood staple none the less.

I can’t believe it took me 4 years of living around the corner to try Wah Lung. I always used to complain that there was no good Chinese takeout in the neighborhood, and my fiancé would mention Wah Lung but I brushed him aside. Until I was home sick one day and desperately wanted soup. I ordered veggie soup, steamed veggies and garlic tofu and it was all delicious. The veggies were fresh, it came with a TON of rice, and the tofu was really tasty. Also it was ready really quickly(I pick up since I am literally around the corner). That time they didn’t have brown rice, but the next time they did(and they didn’t charge extra, which was nice) so it is worth asking for it. The owners seem very nice as well.

This place is an excellent representation of American Chinese takeout cuisine. The food is inexpensive, prepared quickly, and in the half dozen or so times I’ve gone to pick up an order it has always been very tasty. I can’t attest to their delivery, because I live very close and always pick up my order. I’ve tried a couple of other Chinese takeout places in the Ditmars area(Dragon & Phoenix, Happy Family), and Wah Lung is by far the best as far as taste and quality. I usually get the vegetable lo mein or stir-fried vegetables, and have always been satisfied with the quality of the food. Also, the portion sizes are massive for what you pay. As others have noted, the couple who run the place are extremely friendly once they recognize you as a repeat customer.

Pains me to do this but they have become so hit and miss since my initial review. I have to downgrade. We don’t even bother taking out from here anymore and it’s literally a few doors away from my home. What a shame. :(

Terrible customer service. I called to place an order and the guy was extremely rude. I ordered an eggroll and a soda and he told me I could only have on or the other. I told him it was okay because I would pay for it. He says, and I quote,“No, not okay, you buy one or the other, you can’t buy both”. I thought it was weird but I just told him to give me the eggroll. Then he asked me if I wanted to buy a soda… He hung up on me before I could give him my address, and when I called him back to give it to him, he said, «Sorry no more lunch okay, goodbye» And hung up me again. It’s too bad because I live close by and would probably have become one of the regulars I read about in other reviews, but there is just no way I can do business with people who treat their customers this way!

Is it just me, but every time I order from this place the food tastes of old oil? I have only ordered from here on odd hours, like early afternoon. But last time I ordered the fried chicken I was sick after. Maybe ordering during the busy hours when the oil is hot and the chef is in the mood will work. I give it a last chance…

Astoria, from what I’ve found, is a wasteland for chinese food. Greek food? You got it. Italian? Good to go. Thai/burgers/sushi/baked goods/etc? Take a number, please. But getting good, quality chinese food is tough — most places are takeout that cater to the needs of the community(fried chicken wings and french fries anyone?) Wah Lung Kitchen is no exception to the chicken and fries part, but they stand out because my god do they cook good chinese food. They don’t make everything(I was sad to find they don’t make any chinese eggplant… probably due to no demand), but what they do make is way better than any other chinese takeout place I’ve been to. Trust the hapa that lived in Chinatown for six years — go to Wah Lung Kitchen! (Bonus: The owner guy is super nice!)

Finally! Great Chinese food in Astoria — I didn’t think it existed! My boyfriend and I recently moved to Astoria, and we had just about given up on trying to find good Chinese. Tonight we gave our search one more chance when we ordered from Wah Lung, and this place is delicious! To top it off we even received a free order of fried wontons. Thank you Wah Lung!

Ah… Wah Lung Kitchen… tuck away in the river side of Astoria and unfairly hidden from many. This is my favorite Chinese takeout place in Astoria, the land of crappy Chinese restaurants. This place is run by a very nice couple who remembers your face and what you ordered. I had long talks with them while waiting for my food and found out that they have very successful children, making them very proud and happy parents. Happy people make happy foods. And their dumplings are happy indeed. The skin is not too hard and actually cooked thoroughly, unlike most Chinese takeout places here. You can tell because there’s no whitish frozen dough inside the skin when you bite the dumplings in half. They do charge around 50c extra though compared to the rest. Not only that, they are the only place in Astoria that makes Yang Chow fried rice! This is hands down the best fried rice ever and I was surprised a little takeout place can make such a homely Chinese dish. What sucks is that they’re unwilling to make customized dishes for me =( In the end though, a very solid Chinese takeout.

This is your typical Chinese take out/delivery restaurant. Delivery is always quick and it’s always very cheap. The staff here is very nice to me. They warm up once they know you’re a regular. I love their beef Chow Fun. I’m not really a big fan of their fried rice, so I usually order white rice instead. I’m a little too sad that I won’t be having any Chinese food anymore since I’m a diet. However, once I’m off I’ll go back to my beef Chow Fun noodles.

Wow. Am I really the first person to write a review on this Chinese take-out place whose number my family knew by heart? The guy taking orders knew us so well that he would guess ahead of time what we wanted, and then laugh at us through the phone. I grew up on Wah Lung Kitchen. I really loved their Chinese, especially their shrimp with broccoli, pork fried rice and wonton soup. Being in Arizona now, I can say that any Chinese place that can take your order, and have it delivered within 10 minutes is a Godsend.
