I literally come in here 2 or more times a week. There have been times where I have gone 5+ days in a row, so the low number of star is for what this store has become. I used to walk in and know I was going to get everything for a dollar. Then they added milk and eggs at normal grocery store prices which I thought was fine, I was sure some people wanted to do all their shopping in one store. Now I get annoyed every time I walk in because a large portion of the stuff is 1.99, 2.99, and yesterday I saw a box of Oreos for 3.99. What the heck happened to 99¢ ONLY??? If I want a discount store I would go to grocery outlet, I want to buy stuff for a dollar! Management needs to get the more expensive stuff out. It’s annoying picking up something then getting to the register to realize it’s not a dollar, sometimes the don’t even label it 1.99 or whatever. Even worse to get home and realize you paid $ 3 for something you can get at VONS for $ 3 and not have it close to outdate. Another issue that have is that the outside of the store needs to be cleaned up. They leave fruit outside that is sometimes rotting or just random carts of holiday items and it makes it look trashy. I know it sound like I’m expecting a lot but the one in San Luis and the one in Santa Maria don’t look like trash outside. Every time I see managers I want to say something but I don’t know how much control they really have over what goes into the store. I hope the see this start making changes because I really like the chain and this store could be so much better.

LIES!!! They USED to be 99cent only. Not anymore! I understand the federally regulated items they now carry like milk and eggs– but just got charged $ 1.49 for a storage bag?! The clerk pointed out a tiny little price rage that’s part of the container for the product. There are waters that cost more. They are becoming just another greedy grocery store. :-/be careful what you buy! You might pay more than you thought!

The products available are cheap so you get what you pay for. The service is worth about 99 cents as well. I have yet to have a cashier recognize my existence when I am checking out. Typically they talk with their coworkers about what they are going to do once they get off of work.

I try and try but I just don’t see what people see in this place. They have nothing I want and nothing I specifically went in for. I guess if you just want to feel like you are getting a deal this is the place to go, but they didn’t have what i needed. Boo!

Wow, you can find some REALLY good deals here. For example… Digorno pizzas a buck… $ 9 at the regular grocery store. Lipton tea packets a buck… $ 4 at the grocery store… lean cuisines… yoplait yogurt 4 packs… ore ida sweet potato fries… the list goes on and on. The produce is hit or miss, as is the customer service. Teri has always been super friendly and helpful though.

You have to search for it, but you can find goodies for 59 cents or 79 cents. Even some that are 2 for 79 cents. The store is well-kept, the cashiers are all friendly in their own ways, and you can pretty much find almost anything you need when you’re on a budget. My kind of store. It also has all sort of weird things you never thought about getting, but all of a sudden now you do. It’s a ways from where I live, but I always make it out there. Can’t beat Jelly Belly flops for only 99 cents.

This is my go to store! When you shop around you can really cut the cost of your regular grocery bill. Produce(picked correctly) is awesome for only a buck! Gardening pots, thank you cards, foil, zip lock bags, snacks for the kids, party favors. Basically any odds and ends. Staff could be a bit friendlier but it is Atascadero!

Like any store, you’ve gotta shop smart to get great value from it, and over the last 5+ years I’ve learned exactly what to/not to buy at the 99 Cent Store. Pillsbury Gluten Free Pizza Dough or Pie Crust Dough runs $ 3.99 in Food 4 Less, $ 5+ elsewhere, $ 1 a tub here. Since I buy 4+ tubs at a time, I’m saving $ 15-$ 20 a visit right off the bat. Chintzy holiday décor you plan on only using once or twice? This place is a gold mine. My boyfriend and I have constructed Halloween costumes and Christmas displays from 99 Cent Store crap the last few years, and we’ve never been judged for it(at least not to our faces). Face lotion — the little $ 1 tubs are scentless, non-greasy, and non-pore-clogging. I have been using it as my primary daily moisturizer for years after trying way more expensive brands(L’Oreal Paris, Burts, Neutrogena, etc.). If they ever stop carrying it, I’ll age 30 years instantly. Anderson’s Pea Soup, Pea Soup w/Ham, and Tomato Soup. Why drive all the way out to Buellton when you can buy it in Atascadero? Mmmmmm. There are also name-brand chapsticks, toothpastes, and deodorants. You get the gist — look for high quality, ditch the chemical-laden household cleaning products and lead-painted dishware. I’ve been shopping here for years and hope they stick around forever!

Nice 99 cent store with lots of merchandise, neat/clean setting, and situated in a large mall with plenty of parking. All the store was packed with items but neat and clean, unlike some other stores. We found some items that we never found at other 99 cent stores — I don’t know if it was unusual just for this location or what, but they had some espresso powder(for 99 cents) that would normally cost 4 — 5 bucks in a Safeway or Vons. Restrooms were top notch.

Misleading. Its .9999 cent store. Really should be the dollar store. I asked the cashier why something cost a dollor znd she explained the .9999. Shady to say the least. I know its only a .99 of a penny but its the point. What else are they scamming from people

FINALLY! We no longer have to pay up to 3 – 4 times as much for the exact same things at the other stores. They have it all here, loads of household essentials, a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy, frozen foods etc. Most are name brands, and the same things found at regular grocery stores. Why this took sooo long to open here is, well, GREED by the other guys to keep this store out. it’s called competition folks. They want to keep people thinking that the same melon should cost $ 4 instead of $ 1. Not any more! Just like their motto says… we’ll be in here for everything first, then go elsewhere. 99 thanks for opening in Atascadero!
