I wouldn’t say rude but I wouldn’t say welcoming. Food was as good as any other diner. Service was really slow. We even joked with the table behind us how long it was taking. Its very old school which I liked. I just think that this place is made for the locals and regulars. Also, it is so quiet in here. I felt like I had to whisper at my table as to not disrupt anyone. It was a unique experience.

I have eaten here twice and enjoyed it both times. The service is slow so don’t stop here if you are in a hurry. Yesterday, we had the cheeseburger, club sandwich and pumpkin cheese pie. The cheeseburger was juicy and well cooked. The garnish included fresh tomatoes that were exceptional for the time of year. The club sandwich had real roasted turkey and some very good bacon. The only lackluster part of the meal was the French fries. The pumpkin cheese pie was very good. The cheese toned down the spices a little and made the desert very creamy. Interesting décor and friendly wait staff make this a place to go to when you are in area.

I have lived in Atco for about 8 years but I have heard of Atco Diner for 30 years. In high school I remember one of my good friends was a waitress there. In all that time I had never tried the diner. Old or new. A few weeks ago my daughters wanted to go out to dinner. I suggested we go there. We have done take out breakfast from there on many occasions in the past and it was good so I thought why not go in. My daughters were skeptic as the parking lot had no cars and it’s not an up to date diner, but they went. When we entered we were told to sit anywhere and we chose a booth with a window. Lori our waitress was friendly enough. It felt like being in someone’s kitchen, outdated kitchen, but kitchen all the same. Now my daughters on the other hand were like eww it’s so old, Young people, we were there once so I understand were they are coming from. Lol However we don’t judge a book by it’s cover or at least try not to. My daughters ordered the typical diner food, Cheeseburgers and I being the Jersey girl ordered a Porkroll and cheese on a kaiser roll, The food was what you expect from a diner, nothing to brag about, but not bad at all. While we were there two more tables came in and you could just feel the home like atmosphere. It was obvious the customers were regulars. Unfortunately we did not order pies as we didn’t see a big selection. Not sure where they were. We did see a desert fridge but the light was out, maybe that is why we saw none. We didn’t bother to ask as we were full from our meal. I have worked as a waitress in diners and my sister had her own restaurant so I know something about the restaurant/diner industry. Nothing wrong with this diner. It is just outdated :)

I’ve always wanted to try this place since seeing the statement«As Seen on NBC Foodies» written in their marquee. Interior: Upon entering the diner I noticed the older aesthetic. It was reminiscent of a grandmother’s kitchen or living room. Knick-knacks everywhere, see through curtains, outdated interior, and papers stacked up on the counters(taking up counter seating space). Food: The food came quickly and tasted okay. It was average diner food and the menu listed the typical options. I chose to try a piece of apple pie since that was their claim to fame. This is why there are two stars. It tasted like applesauce wrapped in a bland crust. Also call me weird but I like my pie warm or room temperature, and this slice was very cold. Only a few pie options were available by the slice as everything else, like the peanut butter pie I wanted, had to be ordered as a whole pie. Understandable, but only four options out of 26 were available and only one was appealing to me. Also they didn’t have honey mustard or provolone cheese. I get it, not every restaurant is going to have tons of options but it made me wonder what else don’t they stock. Service: The waitress did a nice job but it was awkward because for most of my meal I was the only customer.

Don’t listen to the negative reviews here. I went here for breakfast and Lori is very polite. This is not a chain restaurant so don’t expect pre-made dishes to come out in 10 minutes. This is a DELICIOUS diner that makes fresh food for every order. The prices are great and you get a great amount of food. There were other people in there enjoying their meal as well. If you enjoy a conversation with your guest then you will enjoy going to any diner. This place was excellent and would recommend this to any of my friends or family. If you are in a rush then go to a fast food joint. If you want to relax and have freshly made food just how you want it then come here. We will be back!

Pretty much the other reviews are correct. Food took a little long but I wasn’t in a rush. It tasted fine nothing special The silverware was clean. The bathroom was small and dirty. It’s was a stereo typical old diner. It should be updated for the times. I wouldn’t call the lady there an old bag but she could have been a little more pleasant although I’m not a morn person either.

Very homely look from the outside was confirmed on my visit inside. Very cozy décor, almost like my grandmas. I was expecting a diner menu, but was surprised by the limited options, I ordered the fried chicken and my wife ordered the shrimp salad. An old bag took our order and then walked slowly to the kitchen to prepare it. We were the only people in the restaurant and we’re expecting fast service but it took about 25 minutes for our food to come out. meanwhile we had to ask for our water because she forgot about it. My wife’s shrimp salad arrived with almost raw unpeeled shrimp on it that were disgusting. We left shortly after and will not be paying Atco diner another visit anytime soon

I just came home from having breakfast at the New Atco Diner. The best part about the place is that it is only 5 minutes from my home. Since I am close to the area, I have often seen the sign– As Seen on NBC’s Foodies. Once you look at the menu, you see that it applies to only the baked goods. Well, the baked goods we saw this day, did not look very appealing. But since I did not have any pie I can not speak for how they taste.(Based on looks alone, I would have never ordered any.) My BFF, Oct, and I decided to try someplace new for brunch. Again, since we saw the Foodies banner, we decided to give Atco diner a try. Boy do I wish I had read Jack R’s review– his experience sounds just like what we experienced. Upon entering, we were told to take any seat. After sitting, we waited 5 – 7 minutes while two waitresses, talked at the counter; seeming to ignore us. It is a tiny place, it wasn’t as if I could not see if they were busy. The first person who came up to us, was the younger of the two women,(50ish) and she was a little more pleasant. After taking our drink orders, again we waited and the older women(late 60’s-70’s) came to our table. Upon taking our orders, she asked us what did we want to drink. Smiling, we said, the other lady took our order. «Well, give it to me again, she is too busy to take care of you.» Okay! I also asked if the asparagus omelet was made with fresh asparagus; she appeared to be very offended and told me, «we ONLY use fresh vegetables». Now I will admit, I had been feeling some uncomfortable, not really welcomed vibes, so I tried to ignore them. My girlfriend who is WAY less sensitive than I am, even said, «Gee-sh! You only asking a question.»(I will leave it to you to interpret these responses.) Again, we gave her our orders and I asked for lemon for my hot tea. Within a very reasonable time period, she brought them over. Our meals came, mine an Greek omelet with FRESH asparagus, toast and hash browns and hers, two pancakes with a sweet sausage. The food was okay, my omelet was very dark and seemed to have been cooked hard but I thought it was a matter of taste– I prefer it lighter and fluffy. I dislike hash browns, so I rarely eat them but mine came with 1 piece of bacon; I had not ordered it but there it was some what hidden in the hash browns. If you like your hash browns, darker and crispy, very crispy, then you would like these. Oct’s pancakes were light as she instructed but not completely cooked well, all the way through. The sweet sausage was delicious, as was my toast. When I asked for another cup of tea, I forgot to ask for more lemon; I assumed it was implied since that is how I drank my first cup. This time she brought me a small kettle. I apologized and asked for another piece of lemon. It was at this point, there was NO mistaking the rudeness and as she made some comment, she huffed off to get the lemon. Upon her return, she slid the lemon onto the table(it reminded me of my 16yr daughter with an attitude) as she was walking by. It is at this point we looked at each other and began to compare thoughts as to how she was acting. We realized that her rudeness was not our imagination. We continued our meal. In the 30 – 35 minutes after we received our food, not ONCE did she come over to ask us if we needed anything, how was the food, NOTHING. But as two friends, catching up, we really did not care. As a matter of fact, we sat and waited for over 20 minutes after we ate, for her to bring us the bill. In all the time, she did not even come in our vicinity. My friend, who is not a loud person, finally had to yell out for the check. Wow! And despite all this, we still left a 15% tip($ 3.00), we usually leave 20% or more but it was a Sunday and I told her are the bigger people. We shouldn’t have left anything. As we were leaving, I remebered what my father-in-law used to say, «Well, I have been here twice; this is my first and last time». My husband was once a cook at a major breakfast chain and so I do know what good and great breakfast food should taste like.

My buddy & I were picking up an aquarium I picked up on CL in NJ, & it was early on a Sunday, so I offered to take him to breakfast for helping me, & we ran into this place on RT30… I always like little Mom & Pop places… but not this joint, not after my experience today. The waitress(Lori) was a miserable old bag, we felt like we were bothering her, nobody in this joint & we had to say«Good morning» to her, & we got a «yeah…”& a look that could kill… took 15 minutes after we sat down to get a cup of coffee, & I had to ask her for it… UNACCEPTABLE. So, if I wasn’t starving @ this point, we would have left but we ordered, we both got bacon & eggs… which I figured would be quick, but which also took quite a while. Food was OK, but nothing I couldn’t have made @ home… I asked for green peppers & onions in my hash browns, & I got a pile of GP& onions & almost no potatoes!!! I was wondering why there were no cars on the parking lot… now I know why!!! Unfriendly service & mediocre food are NOT a recipe for success!!! Oh, BTW, Lori wrote a complaint to Unilocal about a response I wrote to her«owner’s response» & their support team took it down… it was not a «new» 1st hand experience, so against Unilocal’s policy… so OK, I’ll go there again. & give them a whirl… but I’m not holding my breath that this will improve. Look out Lori… here I come! Better have a smile!

Nothing stands out. Standard food. Closed some days and they close early. Never see that many cars in the lot so I don’t see how they remain open.

The food was hot and good. The only reason they get 4 stars is that the menu is smaller then most places. The only soup of the day was lentil. I will come back.
