This definitely was a good place to go hang out with a bunch of friends. We ended up going to the top and playing pool for a couple of hours and grabing quite a few drinks. When we asked for rum n coke — it was not watered down at all and my friends were like it’s fairly strong for $ 6 per drink. We had a few jagerbomb shots as well. The night was definitely fun. There are a lot of tables placed next to pool table so it was kind of difficult to play but otherwise I don’t have any complaints. Although the men’s bathroom had some weirdly shaped urinals: D

Quintessential downtown Athens bar. Great rooftop patio. My favorite drink to get here is the cucumber limeade cocktail that’s perfect for the warm weather. Very cool and refreshing.

Love this bar! I’m not an Athens local and didn’t do enough bar hopping to compare, but Allgood rocks. Their beers are super cheap and they have a huge variety. And I love the vibe of their two bars– one upstairs and one down. It definitely gets crowded, as we were there on a Saturday night, but that’s to be expected. Get there a little early to snag a seat at the bar.

Our first stop on our Athens bar hop! This bar is truly all good(har har like they haven’t heard that one before). Cheap beers like you wouldn’t believe! $ 4 for my bottle of Mother Earth Brewing Weeping Willow Wit(my faves!). There were so many cheap options I didn’t even know where to begin. They didn’t have my first choice Maisel’s Weisse(Hefeweizen), but since there were so many other hefe’s to choose from, I didn’t care. There were drink specials on a chalkboard above the bar and they looked awesome! Only $ 3 for a bottle of their last chance beers. Notes: No card minimum to keep a tab open. They don’t take Discover card, FYI. A great place to start a night out!

This is a pretty fun place to roll through on a night out in Athens. It’s got a lot of space and the prices are pretty good.

I consider myself a reasonable man. It would take a lot of effort for me to judge an entire establishment based on just one bathroom. But sometimes one crap experience is enough to turn you off permanently. I’m no dandy, I don’t need a lot out of a men’s bathroom. But I do hope that the bar I want to give money to has something better than a prison cell. You tell me if I am being unreasonable: Is it wrong to think Stalls should not leave you feeling so exposed that you can look someone in the eye through the gaping seem between door and wall? Is it outrageous to want enough light to see without trying to balance my phone on one knee? Am I way out of line as to think that a *toilet seat* should come standard? Right now it would be very easy to lose any sense of professionalism or tact, so let me just say that this was not a quick excursion. I needed to spend some time in there. And every second spent decreased my comfort level on a logarithmic scale. I don’t see how even the most dauntless exhibitionist could be comfortable. I am sure the owners, upper management, middle management, and employees of Allgood are very busy, hardworking people. They would have be tremendously busy almost constantly to let something like this go by. I just read an article touting Allgood Lounge for it’s cleanliness. Perhaps it is only my quick perspective, but they were not living up to their reputation that day – concrete doesn’t dry very well indoors, and even the tiniest bit of standing water(clean or not) is going to look like urine. Combine that standing water with a toilet that is like a magical fountain spewing Bacteria, and you have yourself a problem. That problem gets worse when the door to the men’s room is zip-tied open and has a straight clear shot to the bar. I am a modern man, I am not above reproach and I will admit that I could be wrong! I didn’t stay to sample what half the town of Athens raves as the best damn bar on the planet so I can’t judge any of that, but I think any of us could take 2 second to identify the basic tenants of the bathroom agreement an establishment has with it’s customers. Seats are one of them. It’s obvious that I’m in the minority here. Between my fellow Unilocalers and on-line reviews, the people of Athens have Spoken! And if the drinkers and the party-ers, that Frat Packs and«woo!» girls say they want crappy bathrooms, then I say give it to them! I may be back to try the cold beer or the make-your-own bloody mary station, all of which sounds like fun, but I’ll probably be going to the bathroom across the street.

Of the 2 bars myself and a group of friends all hit on our too brief bar crawl, this one left a better impression on me by far. Nice 2 floor setup, with 2 patios. One on the first floor in front(more just for smokers taking a brief break, rather than for drinking on), and an all purpose rooftop patio in the back that has some seating on it as well. I’d have spent a lot of time in that upstairs area smoking away, if it wasn’t for the fact it was too crowded for me to stay up there for long. Would be absolutely awesome to hit that second floor patio up, if our group had hit here at an off peak time, and not Saturday night. That’s okay, since it was just a brief trip to Athens… Bartender was also really cool here, and I had a good chat with him talking about the differences with bar closing times in Chicago, and learning about when Athens’ bars close(2am, if you’re wondering btw). Bathrooms were also clean, which I greatly appreciated due to the fact I’ve been to too many bars in my life that do a very crappy job of keeping them clean. Finally, another plus is that it’s amazing for people watching, and it was fun to see so many of the costumes people dressed up in for the ‘Wild Rumpus’.

Probably my favorite bar in Athens… hands down! Really chill, and plays good music! I love the addition in the back that goes to the outside… and there are heaters for winter time as well! A must-see for nightlife!

We stopped in on a quiet weekend during the day as we made our way through downtown. I had to check this place out because of their beer sampler that they do with ANY of they drafts including the super high gravity ones. We got the beers and also enjoyed the bloody mary bar which is great since they have so many mixes and spices to use. Really laid back place with good drink prices, ill be back again for sure to see what they have on tap for me to sample next time.

Love it. Great staff, huge multi-level bar, 2 outdoor areas, multiple bars, great staff, good lighting, clean, decent prices and a kick ass happy hour. This is the bar every bar in Athens wants to be like. Bottom line.

Solid bar. No real problems and have great Thursday night deals. Good place to enjoy a night out any night of the week. Don’t expect to get too wild there and they play solid 90’s and soft/indie rock hits— but enjoyable atmosphere.

When in Athens recently for a football game we stopped in here twice and had a great time. The bartenders are all very knowledgable about the many beers they have and Athens food & drinking scene. On Saturday before the game they had a make-your-own bloody mary station set up. It was fun mixing them up and trying new combonations and mixes. This is a fun place. Good place to go before the games and have a few. I think they have a rooftop area too.

Lots of good memories here. Great music, great scene, and three different ‘atmospheres’ in one place. You have your normal athens bar downstairs, the pub/tavern feel upstairs with the pool table and couches, and then you have the beachy bar outside with the string lights and tiki bar. Win win win situation for me. The only drawback is they hardly ever, if ever, have specials. But that only keeps the 19 year olds wanting keystone pitchers for 3 dollars out, and keeping the bar from smelling like Buddha bar and vomit, so I’ll pay full price.

Three out of towners walk into a bar, the bartender says«What are you having?» I fell in love. With the bar, not the bartender. I’m pretty sure it was when I heard the beginning guitar chords to Gin Blossoms’ «Follow You Down». Great music, mostly 90s while we were there, and great service. The bartender was attentive and friendly. He made conversation with us and was even kind enough to take pics of us. We went on a Saturday around 4PM and although the inside had a few people, there were groups of patrons outside, smoking, drinking and just having a good time. If I moved to Athens, I’d definitely frequent this bar, that’s how much I liked it.

As another reviewer pointed out, the overall bar set-up and look is 5 stars. I preferred to go during the day or for a post-dinner drink. On the weekends it fills up really fast and can be a little overbearing if you don’t want to fight through crowds to get a drink, go to the bathroom, etc. For Athens, drinks can be a little pricey, but it’s not much more than the standard prices. If you can manage to get a seat upstairs on the back patio, go for it. There’s been countless times I’ve walked in Allgood, saw how long it would take to get a drink and make myself comfortable and ended up just leaving because I wasn’t up for the fight. Overall, it’s a cool place.

This place is HUGE! I have only been there one time and it was an a weekend night, so I can’t say a whole lot except that it is a very popular place on a weekend night. They have pay by the hour pool with plenty of tables and an upstairs«outside» smoking patio. The décor is really cool with a lot of gig poster adorning the walls. I probably would only go there a) for happy hour or b) if you love dense crowds of drunk people.

Dear Allgood formally known as Gater Haters– It has been a couple of years since the last time we have seen each other. I must admit… I was scared of our first encounter after so much time has passed. Were the wounds too raw? Would you be hanging out with a whole new crew and forget the love of your life? When I went there a month ago, with my whole bachelorette crew. You were the best gentleman there was. You and your bartenders made sure we were taken care of. You played all the right music to make us happy and look! we didn’t even have to climb up the spiral staircase of death! Best of all, even though we are seasoned Athens downtowners– your very lovely doorman did not snicker when he saw my DOB on my drivers license. and for that fact alone. 5STARS!!! Allgood. I am glad that when we parted ways– we really were able to remain friends… and maybe with some benefits too!

Definitely my favorite downtown Athens bar. The pours are generous, the staff efficient, the patrons attractive, and the ambiance… well, it actually has ambiance, that’s a step up for most Athens bars. The downstairs has a loft like feel, with dark wood, high top booths lining the walls. However, the upstairs porch is by far my favorite. In the summertime, I highly recommend grabbing a table under the stars and enjoying some drinks with your friends.

Five stars for the look and ambience on an uncrowded night(try happy hour). One star for the usual weekend crowd. Too rowdy and fratastic for me, folks.(Yes, I know that fratty folks are usually kind. Yes, I even have many friends who were into Greek life. No, I don’t want to be anywhere near the«brothers and sisters» when they have alcohol in hand.) I’ve gone here a couple of times when I’ve really enjoyed it. We had a Graduate Student Association social here a couple years ago and it was wonderful! Pool tables, big open spaces, and a really pretty patio on the second floor. Let’s meet for happy hour here and skip out the moment night falls.
