I graduated from OU and love Athens, but this was the only thing I regret about my tenure at OU. I decided to get my second tattoo at decorative injections by Aaron, and finally 7 years later I am spending the time and the money to get the tattoo Aaron gave me covered up/improved. He stenciled some old English writing on my arm that might have been my fault for how bad it looks now. The main problem is I asked Aaron for a gold tattoo of a triangle on my arm, he told me he didn’t have a gold color but he could mix yellow and orange to make the color. .the final product was a triangle that looked like a damn jungle cat, striped yellow and orange. I understand you might think by mixing colors you can achieved a desired color but it is not something you can experiment with. I would have loved to keep my original tattoo but getting this disaster replaced will cost me. I will elect to get any body art I get in the future done by a real artist. I will warn you against going to decorative injections, just don’t do it, consult a real artist and not someone who will experiment with colors on your body.

I got my first tattoo here and honestly would give it a higher rating than five stars if I could. Of all of my Athens /OU friends that I’ve spoken with, nobody has had a bad experience. I do my homework(especially as it concerns permanently marking my body) and there’s nowhere else I’d want to go. The tattoo was beautifully done, and perfectly adapted from what I wanted. My tattoo artist was Eric, if I remember correctly. He was new to the store and after having heard all of my friends rave about the other long-standing artists I was a bit hesitant to take chance with someone I had no recommendations for, but once I saw the design he had ready for me I was set. The tattoo turned out to be absolutely stunning. I’ve also gotten a piercing here that hurt like hell but no less than it would have anywhere else. Very professional staff, and on top of that they’re incredibly nice. And another important note: they commit to making sure everything is sterile, and are super helpful if you have a minor concern about a piercing you’ve gotten elsewhere. The ball fell off of a very new tragus piercing I had done in France, and they got me set up with a replacement, and actually put it one for me for no charge beyond what the ball cost. Again; after multiple visits here, I’ve never felt off-put in any way, something I don’t think can be said for most tattoo parlors. If you are going to get something done and are in the area I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve gotten 7 out of my 11 tattoos here by Jimmy(2) and Aaron(5), including my very first ink. Of all the tattoo establishments I’ve visited and gotten work done at, this is by far my favorite(if you hadn’t figured that out already…). Everyone’s super friendly and extremely talented. I love the atmosphere of the shop as well, lots of great paintings on the wall and always some good music playing. I could seriously write for hours about how much I love these guys and how appreciative I am for them making my transition from blank canvas to budding work of art such a pleasant one, but then you’ll just think I’m gushing. And it could be the fact that it’s tucked away in small town Appalachia, but their prices are the lowest I’ve found so far, and I’ve been all across the country figuring that out. Every time I go back to visit OU, I leave town with something new from here and that is a tradition I plan on continuing for quite a while. Oh and I also got my Industrial piercing here several years ago. Excellent experience with that, too!
