Marti’s is an Athens lunch staple! Great place to share a salad or sandwich with friends. All of the ingredients are fresh, and the portions are HUGE! The salads come with a little too much lettuce. The environment is welcoming and comfortable, and the hospitable vibe makes it a great place to grab lunch. They are only open until 3 on weekdays, so make sure you plan accordingly.

Great food. Very personable staff(and it was BUSY). Plenty of food for the $$. Two could possibly share a sandwich(if you are starving, no need to share). Very FRESH! Marti came out and introduced herself because she didn’t recognize me. You can tell she cares a lot about her place and the patrons who attend. Couldn’t say enough positive things about this place. Will return soon and telling everyone I know living in or visiting Athens!

Marti’s is worth the speed walk from my last class of the day to make it in time for lunch. The service is as consistent as my visits — incredible. Couldn’t ask for a better gourmet meal destination to deliver not only awesome food, but a warm, southern hospitality feel.

Most amazing chicken salad! A cute little house renovated into a restaurant. Inexpensive for the portion size. I can get a sandwich and eat on it for the rest of the day. My absolute favorite part is the pita chips! Half the time, I forget the bread and just dip those bad boys in the chicken salad. The fresh fruit on the side is the cherry on top!

I received food from here several times while working an office job in Athens and I just thought it was alright. It was not really anything special. I felt that my food was always on the bland side. After a few catered lunches, whenever the other office girls would ask me if I wanted anything for a group lunch order I would just decline. Nothing on their menu appealed to me very much. The only time I truly enjoyed it was when we had a catered holiday party, and the menu was delicious. There were adorable mini roast beef sandwiches with horseradish sauce and I couldn’t stop eating them. I’d say for lunch they are about 3 stars and for catering 4.5 stars. Your mileage may vary.

Consistently delicious food, great service, and a cozy place to eat. This place is an Athens institution and will be for years to come.

Food is always yummy and usually there is a wait. I agree with some of the other reviewers the staff seems overwhelmed and rushed so they do come off as abrupt. If you like chicken salad, pimento cheese and pita chips this is the place for you!

I think the food is more like 3 – 4 stars. But the service is 0 stars. It’s negative stars. They don’t want you in there! I went to Marti’s at Midday for the first time in years recently. It wasn’t very busy — a group of 3 walked in in front of me and there were only a couple of people seated before that. Before anyone had even picked up a menu, the women behind the counter were snapping and barking for people to order. I took about 30 seconds with my menu and got asked twice during that time if I was ready to order or not. When I did order and was waiting to pay, a different person than the one who took my order came over to me and asked what I wanted, and when I said I was paying she rolled her eyes and yelled over my head to the next people in line — even though there was PLENTY of room at the counter(I was the only one there). From my table I could see the counter and they were snapping and yelling at everyone!!! I was appalled!!! Other places in town have reputations for bad service but I’ve never experienced such rude service anywhere. I’ll take a bored, uninterested minimum wage employee over three women yelling and barking at me as if I’m just taking up space in their restaurant. I ordered quickly, paid in cash, sat down, and ate as quickly as I could and didn’t make a mess or require any further assistance — no reason for the rudeness. The woman from the kitchen who brought my food was so friendly that it startled me. They should put her FOH and send everyone else to the back. That being said, the food was great(and it came out within two minutes of sitting down). A half chicken salad sandwich and side salad has left me more stuffed than Thanksgiving lunch. The roasted onion dressing wasn’t that interesting but it was savory and tasted good on both the salad and the pita chips(which were so crunchy they hurt my teeth but they tasted fine). I was so happy not to see iceberg! The tomato slices were bright red and ripe(unlike the hard-as-rocks pink/red I see in many places that aren’t like, farm-to-table) and were even seasoned — an extra step I deeply appreciated. For some reason, the cucumbers tasted like they had been dug out of the trash, but I didn’t really care because the rest was so good. The fresh fruit is a great addition but I’m not sure why the watermelon was cold and the orange slices were warm(nothing I ordered was warm). The chicken salad didn’t really warrant all the freaking out I’ve heard over it, but there was an insane amount piled on the sandwich, and the bread wasn’t bad either. The price point hurt, but the amount of food was great. If I had been able to take it with me I definitely would have had enough leftover for lunch the next day! I’ll come back if I’m craving it, but it will never be a casual drop-by place for me. I still go to some places when I want the food even if the service isn’t that great, but it felt like these people were going out of their way to be rude and make you feel unwelcome. Definitely the rudest service I’ve encountered in a decade of living in Athens.

Decent, but pricey place for lunch. But, they are primarily catering to women. As long as you know that, you won’t be disappointed.

Fantastic lunch. Basically everything is delicious and definitely try those pita chips. Fresh fruit and fresh ingredients. The only downside is that the place is super popular so parking and seating can be an issue. That’s a good issue to have.

Very nice place for lunch in Athens. Very much a local, mom and pop place. The restaurant is very small but very homey feeling. They have good pimento cheese, salads, chicken salad, and their pita chips are homemade and very good. My mom tried their cookie one day — HUGE — and said it was very dry. Other than that the restaurant is a good place to grab lunch or takeout. If you’re on Prince give it a shot!

Went here for the 2nd time and was mindblown by how rude the staff was. I don’t just mean that I had to wait a while on my food… I am talking about how these people need an attitude adjustment. I saw one staff member get visibly angry at a customer and snapped as the customer was trying to order. Then another woman came out from the kitchen and rolled her eyes as she saw a line waiting to order. Aside from the staffs terrible attitudes, there was the salad I ordered. It «looked» delicious, but the only problem is that I couldn’t eat it. The caramelized walnuts were a giant blob stuck together on top of the salad and wouldn’t tear apart; the apples were such large chunks that I could barely eat them without a knife. I asked for chicken on the salad and they put chicken salad on the side. I had a water to drink and this lunch costs me a whopping $ 15! I do not mind splurging on lunch every now and then, but it will not be at Martis at Midday again.

Really. If you are on Prince, near Prince, thinking about going towards Prince or even no where near Prince and pimento cheese is our your mind then you better make your way to Marti’s! Excellent every single time!

Marti’s is awesome and I am blessed to work across the street. I visit for lunch every chance I get. You can call in your order and cut down on your wait time. As they are so busy… which tells you how great the food is!

So good! The only negative thing I can think of is that I wish they were open for dinner!!! I’m in love with their enormous salads,(especially the Niçoise) and their tuna melt is THE greatest tuna melt I’ve ever had! It is just perfect. All their sandwiches come with homemade pita chips, greens and fresh fruit. This place is frequently packed with a line out the door, but the kitchen moves fast.

This is by far my favorite place to have lunch in Athens. Yes, it’s «just» a sandwich place, but the sandwiches are made immaculately, with fresh ingredients, and the atmosphere is just perfect. Plus the employees are all friendly and great to see every few weeks. I’m addicted to the curry chicken salad sandwich(the Amy). It’s so full of flavor and piled on high(like all their sandwiches — just get a full size and enjoy it again for lunch the following day). I like to scoop some off and eat it with the pita chips as well(which are perfectly crispy and seasoned). I also really enjoy the Tami /Rhett — the turkey is perfectly moist and thick cut. Their pimiento cheese is the only one I like other than my own grandmother’s. It’s thick, but still creamy, and has a nice kick of spice. I love to get a scoop of it with my sandwich to eat on the pita chips, or if I’m going home for the weekend I’ll buy a whole ½−1 lb to take home and share with my family(who loves it and hates that they live 7 hours away). If you’re looking for a salad, I recommend the Martha Salad(only a half though — I can’t imagine how you could finish a whole one). I sub the curry chicken salad for the regular chicken salad, or just add a scoop so I get both with the pimiento cheese. And I love their balsamic dressing — it’s so so good. The tuna salad is also a great idea. You have to wash it all down with a mint tea. I tend to go full sweet, but getting half and half is a great idea if you don’t have as much love for sweet tea as I do. And if you’re looking for dessert, their cookies are huge and creatively-flavored(cinnamon peanut butter and orange poppyseed are winners). Lines can be long and seating can be limited at peak lunch hours, but if you go at 11 or after around 1:30PM, you can miss it all. When the weather is nice, it’s great to sit on the porch too.

When I first went here I knew it was going to be a wild ride. I stopped in after I had not eaten for 2 days because I was having surgery at Athens Regional Hospital across he street. I ordered 3 sandwiches and finished them all(it was a bet) and I was so full I could not stand up. I yelled MARTY!!! .I havent been back yet but sh e will always remember me after that! Amazing food at this restuarant.

This place is the perfect place for a lovely meal on a sunny, breezy day. Plenty of FREE parking in the back. The set up of the restaurant reminds me of sitting in my grandma’s home. To be honest, I think it might’ve been a home transformed into a restaurant. Although small, it’s really cozy. They give you HUGE amounts of food. Like others said, a half sandwich could easily fill you up. I got the curry chicken salad — the spice didn’t overpower the sandwich at all. Pita chips are super flavorful. An extra $ 3 gets your a whopping cup of pimento cheese. YUMYUMYUM. I rarely order any beverages but I got sucked in on the mint sweet tea. ADDICTINGSTUFF. Could have tasted even better with a shot of vodka or something. 2 sandwiches, 2 beverages, and a side of pimento cheese cost me a whopping $ 25. Add tip and it was $ 30. That’s a little more than I would’ve liked to pay but the food was fantastic.
