Sakura Steak House

The environment is nice and all food display is beautiful. We enjoyed all our food but I’ll say the price is not that friendly to me as a student. They forgot the soup and salad for chicken Yaki Udon we ordered. Overall is good.

I was out and about Saturday afternoon looking for a good Asian restaurant to order a Sushi boat for two. It was my Anniversary night and I wanted to make it special for the wife, she loves sushi. I walked in and was greeted by the door man who assumed I needed to sit. With my hand I waved him off and the manager popped up from under the bar. I asked him if they made Sushi boats to-​go? He laughed and said; «We don’t’ do that here our boats are for dine in only.» Even after my offer to pay for the boat plate itself was put on the table he still said the same thing; «No sorry we don’t do that here. » Long story short, Shokitini in downtown won $ 200 plus dollars that night.

ATTENTION! ATTENTION! ATTENTION! I saw the sushi chef picking his nose and then he return to make sushi with unwashed hand nor gloves. Also the chef they smoke cigarette inside the kitchen under the exhaust system. I wish the health department catch them!

We always use this place for our jap. dinner night since shokeys got closed. But lately we feel that the place is coming short on service gradually… Today was worse among all. We reach by 8:45 PM. Got the table we were 5. Our order was 2 veg. 1 lobster filet mignon & shrimp & 2 chicken & steak Hibachi dinner. We had 1 saki, 1 neat glen levett & 1 black label on the rocks.
When we req. chef to put some garlic on the side of grill & cook for a few, but instead he (his pic I have upload in pics) mix it in our food. Next, my friend said to put some siracha in our rice. He said I got allergy for it so I can’t put that hot sauce in, you have to take it on side. Again I told hom with action (so hope fully he understand that) please put some garlic on side of the grill & cook it… again he act like he don’t understand that & mix more garlic with our food.
Within a short time he wants to give us rice which was not cooked nor hot, so I said please leave it on the grill for little more & then give it to us… again he act like he didn’t get it & serve it to all my friends but I refused to take it. When he serve rice to me, he almost therow it in my plate. At this point my friend got up & complaint about the bad behaviour. Unfortunately owner was absent.
When we paid the bill (about 130+) the lady came from bar & said sorry & stated that the chef doesn’t understand English? Wow. We was like … really?
I think it was may be out last supper @ this place.
I’m immigrant my self, but the last thing I wants to see that some body would show bad attitude & rough service, then try to cover it up with ‘I don’t know English or I didn’t understand you’.
They lost our business for ever for sure.

We had a very enjoyable meal here — very good food, prompt and courteous service, and a nice atmosphere.

My fiancé and I come here all the time. Today we got the sushi and sashimi for 2 and the fish was super fresh, the sushi rice is incredible, and the amount of food was perfect for us. We eat and have eaten at all the sushi spots in Athens and Sakura comes out on top every time. Super consistent and always fresh. Go here.

While the service was somewhat shy, they were super quick and this was easily the best hibachi I’ve ever had. Their lunch specials are great as well!

I decided to check this place out after reading the many positive reviews on here. I left extremely disappointed. The presentation of both the food and restaurant was excellent, and the staff was friendly. However, the taste of the food, both sushi and dinner plates, might have been the most disappointing Asian food I have ever tasted. Additionally, the price of each item was about double of what they were worth, and in contrast to what others on here are saying, the portions very small.

One of my absolute favorite date locations. Some of the best sushi and hibachi I’ve ever had. The hibachi chefs are always friendly and entertaining. From larger dinners like the shrimp and steak hibachi to sushi, my favorite being the Godzilla roll, do something small like a clear soup and ginger salad brunch, Sakura never disappoints.

Really good sushi and hibachi place in Athens. We came here tonight for the first time. Can’t believe I have not tried this place before after living near the place for three years. We will definitely come back here again! We ordered the Philadelphia roll, sakura roll, salmon tempura, seaweed salad, and clear soup. All were very good and portions are very healthy! :-). Service was great everyone are really nice! It can get fairly busy so be patient if you are in a hurry, however the food is worth it!

I highly recommend going here for lunch, you can have 2 quality rolls for $ 9 or 3 for $ 12. This includes a soup and salad. Fresh, great service, and even better price.

My husband and I eat here about once a month for date night. Normally we eat sushi but sometimes we eat hibachi both are fantastic! The wait is usually long so we come early to beat the crowds.

Service was AWFUL! I was told the wait would be 30 – 40 minutes and ended up waiting around two hours. The hostess was very rude and dismissive throughout the wait and the manager would not talk to me. Their food was good but service was the worst I have ever experienced. For that reason I will never go back.

Awesome Sushi. We drive 50 miles round trip just to eat here. Sit at the Sushi bar and the chefs treat you to added specials on the house. Order the Volcano roll and it comes to your table on fire! Everything is fresh, priced just right and staff is great.

Fantastic food and service at the grill. Steak and chicken were tender and well seasoned. Sashimi was fresh, soup excellent, vegetables perfectly cooked. Attentive servers and an excellent chef, all for a great price. My family and I loved it.

Top notch sushi, fantastic hibachi, good service. Affordable lunch but dinner $$$. If you’re looking for Japanese for lunch this is the place to go.

I have been here a couple times. The Sushi is better than the Hibachi. The hibachi meat was a little tough and not seasoned quite right. It was good just not as good as it could be. The Sushi is very good. They have a pick 2 or 3 roll menu for lunch that is good and inexpensive for lunch. Nice atmosphere.

Food was great. Chef was amazing. Service was wonderful. I was celebrating my birthday with friends and the evening was great. I highly recommend Sakura!!!

Not a long wait for a Fri. night. Food & atmosphere were great. Our chef was young, quiet & in a hurry. He did a little show, but not much. My daughter thought the volcano role was too spicy but my husband liked it. It was served with the foil on fire. The steak was great. Over all maybe a little pricey, but probably average for this area & that atmosphere.

Our entire family enjoys Sakura in Athens. The sushi and sashimi is excellent. Fish is always fresh, portions are generous, presentation is amazing! The hibachi area is also very good, serving standard «fire table» fare. The décor in the entire restaurant is also unique, with a lot of dark wood and understated elegance. Prices are a little on the expensive side and the service can occasionally be hit or miss, but this is still a place worth stopping.
