Stegeman Coliseum, home of the Georgia Bulldogs basketball teams and gymnastics! This is one of the smaller arenas in the SEC and it is surprisingly small for a school like Georgia(with such a huge athletic budget). I’ve only been to one game there, but it is a nice facility and a solid place to watch a college basketball game. My only trip here was to catch a Mississippi State game. My wife is a big Georgia fan and it was fun to watch our two teams face off. We took some time and walked around campus before the game started. That gave her a chance to get some items from the bookstore. Near the stadium is a neat area that has some interesting info chiseled into stone regarding the history of the football team. There is a big statue and it is a really pretty area. It’s a great place to kill some time. We found ourselves wandering around and ended up sneaking onto the football practice field. The next thing we knew, Mark Richt(Georgia’s football coach) was driving toward us in his truck. We thought we might be in trouble. However, he just waived on went on his way. We made it into the game with no problems. It was well organized and very clean. It’s easy to grab a Coke and make it back to your seat without missing much. It’s a nice spot and Athens is always a fun place to travel to if your team happens to be playing there.
