Évaluation du lieu : 5 Athens, GA
So I’ve seen a few shows here at Town and Gown and I know a small group of the actors, directors, and others who help make it what it is. And I have to say, this is probably one of my favorite places in all of Athens. I really like Town and Gown. It’s sad that not more college students take the opportunity to go here, and act or direct or just generally have a good time helping or watching the shows. As it is, I know with the tragedy of what happened at the beginning of the summer, the people are tighter than ever, and it has only strengthened their resolve. $ 5 for sitting anywhere in the theater just can’t be beat. The theater is small(and I wish it was bigger) but the fine quality of the acting really just makes this place a treasure for Athens. GO, get involved, and enjoy this place that I hope stays in Athens forever. 5 Stars well earned.

Évaluation du lieu : 4 Athens, GA
Let 4 stars mean I really, really like Town & Gown. I don’t know yet if the word like can turn into love. I’ve seen a few productions there and they were quite good. As a former community theatre nut(read: actor and hanger-outer), I love going to see locally-produced shows and love to note how several people in the lobby, behind the concession stand, and in the auditorium know each other and greet each other warmly. I made a resolution to myself to see more theatre this year but haven’t acted upon it as much as I should have. This is my reminder. Lots of people in Athens spend money on food, bars, and music shows. Why not drop a few bucks on a theatrical production? It can be truly awe-inspiring, and hell knows it’s a lot less of a pain for your pocket and your schedule than it would be to get to a Broadway production from here. Thursday nights are $ 5! Alternatively, you can be a volunteer usher and get in for free. Give a little, get a little.

i worked with town & gown a bit a few years ago so my review is biased a bit in that i’m not just a customer. i’ve helped build sets. i’ve helped strike sets. i learned what community theatre can be. which is what town & gown is all about really. getting the community involved in theatre. it’s like the daily co-op of theatre in athens.
