Solid place with a top-notch beer menu. I like the sheer volume of local beers available here! If you’re looking for somewhere to have drinks, this is a really good choice. 3-star rating because I wasn’t impressed by the snacks. We had popcorn and hummus and I didn’t really like either. I guess I was hoping for something like nachos or a nice spinach dip with pretzels or something more along the lines of classic pub food. I feel that a place with such amazing beers on tap should also have solid appetizers that pair well with the beer.

For lunch: burger slider, hummus, and cheese sampler. I’ve been trying to think of something interesting to say about it for a few days and not succeeding. The slider was tasty, the cheese not my favorite. The hummus tasted fresh. Our server was on the inattentive end of inattentive. Relative to expectations, a bit disappointed.

I love their selection of beers and the fact that they do half-pours so you can try a lot of different things. They also(at least used to) have a menu that you can ask for with whisky flights which is an amazing thing to do with a group that you don’t mind sharing with. It’s the best way to try a LOT of different single malts.

Really disappointed since the reviews were so good :(. We arrived early on a Saturday, 4:30pm and then place was busy, although we didn’t have to wait long for a table. Incredibly slow to receive our drinks and place a good order but we weren’t in any huge hurry. We ordered two cheeses(Chimay and the goat cheese) then we both had sliders and frys. The apples on the cheese tray seemed to have something on them that left a weird bitter taste in your mouth. The cheeses were good and rest of the tray was tasty. I had a burger slider and an Asian pork taco next. My burger was burned as well as the bun. The pork taco was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. My husband also had the Asian pork taco and the pork slider. He said they were both good, but not amazing. He honestly was most looking forward to the Belgian fries since so many had raved about it. You can tell that they are double fried, so they had a very nice consistency, but there really wasn’t anything amazing about them, so he only finished about a third of them. Lastly, on the last board of health review this facility received an 85 or a B for a score, which was pretty concerning to me. You really have to work to rate a B, so that was concerning. Total bill was $ 44 before tip. Save your calories for some of the better restaurants in town

I was here for a short trip some time ago. It was conveniently located from holiday inn so it was easy to find. The whole reason i am writing this review is the bartender.(Not sure if it is different or same every night). He not only answered my questions(i know nothing about beers) but made me try at least 3 or 4 types of beer before i ordered. I was amazed. Thank you! My experience here was so much fun!

S and I came here on the recommendation of locals and loved it. Helpful waiter guided us through fantastic local beers. We split four small pours, a veggie reuben, fries and salad. All fantastic. Very casual and relaxed. Piped in music was great, but a bit too loud for conversation.

I love a bar that showcases local beers. While locals may tire of the same breweries squatting on the taps, we travelers need to binge while we can. I loved the old-school pub booths in Trappeze, the draft list was first rate and the food was quite good. The server hovered a bit much, but I’d rather have a slightly overattentive server than an absentee employee. On the whole I had a great time there and the value was unbeatable. I also thought the smaller pour options are a really smart way to let their customers tour the beers without being escorted out of their by The Man.

Good food with small plates, sliders, and entrees. Fabulous Belgium Fries with side sauces. Cool industrial interior design. Service was excellent! Great craft beer menu as well. My only not-so– great review was the Asian Pork Taco was a little dry, especially the taco itself. However, I would definitely go back and recommend it to friends.

Not sure why this place is not 5 stars… Glad I came in regardless of the reviews. Three great things here. 1-Beer 2-Beer 3-BEER!!! Really though. Great beers on tap and I had a great meal. Garlic fries FTW!

Good place, good food, good service and a good selection of beer. The only issue is that their food menu is a bit limited!

The bad: The staff seemed confused and unprepared. It took 20 just to get a beer. That seems excessive to me. The food is tasty but not as tasty as I have heard. The good: this review would have been only two stars if not for the beer selection.

Athens may be a college town, but Trappeze is more than just any ol’ college pub. I can see why Trappeze is so popular — the draught beer list is diverse and unique, the food menu is enticing, and the setting creates the right mood. In my estimation, the Belgian fries were the star of the show. Fries, piled on with just about everything everywhere, are so often taken for granted as a basic uninspired side. Not so here. What exactly is a Belgian fry anyway? Well, here are a few qualifiers: They are freshly cut(skin on) and irregularly shaped. They are fried not once, but twice — making them fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. They’re relatively thick — though not as thick as steak fries. These golden delights were lightly flecked with flaky salt and very tasty on their own, but Trappeze did not stop there — dip those suckers in raspberry ketchup, roasted garlic aioli, or bleu cheese sauce(my favorite). Now we’re talking. One may want to take a look at the Rosemary & Garlic Fries touted as being the best fries in Athens. Now you’ve seen it folks, a whole paragraph devoted to fries. Ordering the Trappeze Dubbel offers diners the opportunity to try 2 out 3 available small plate options(an Asian Pork Taco, Slider Burger, or Pulled Pork Slider). My wife did just that. I ordered the Pub Burger. Truly, how I feel about a pub is weighed on the strength of their burger(if they offer one). Trappeze’s Pub Burger was topped with house made pickles, caramelized onions, provolone, arugula, and mayo on a cornmeal coated bun. The burger was cooked to order just right and tasted fresh. I enjoyed the house made pickles and caramelized onions. I didn’t quite care for the arugula though — the taste was bitter and the stems were annoying. I would have preferred a leafier green like romaine. Overall, a decent burger. Oh, I also ordered a cup of their Beer and Cheddar Soup. While it tasted alright, I’m not sure it came together very well. Rather than the cheese melting in to a creamy consistency, the cheddar formed tiny little globules creating an almost gritty texture. Nothing special. Anyways, the Trappeze is certainly worth a visit. Grab a seat, quaff down a few local or exotic brews, nosh on some Belgian fries, and most importantly — enjoy the company of others. Good times.

I love this little Athens Gem. BF and I bellied up to the bar. Nice and clean and classy. Kind of a hipster Portland feel. I had a rose wine and BF had a lager. I ordered a vegan chili that was one of the most tastiest things I put in my mouth. Red beans, black beans, beer and tangy tomato sauce. No harming of animals in the awesome chili!!! So dang good. Also we had a cous cous salad with nuts and fruit. I was very happy here.

We came to this place not very hungry, but looking for a nice place to sit and have a drink and perhaps a snack. It was very unique– the waitresses were wearing cute little outfits and the bar had character. Be careful where you walk, though– I tripped a couple of times on sudden drops and rugs. We were sat immediately, and I didn’t realize how big the place actually was– it could easily hold a huge crowd of beer-yearning college kids. The laminated, so obviously important, menu on our table was the draught and wine selections. It was a pretty big selection, and each choice had colorful and unnecessary descriptions about them(one was described as a chamomile, thyme, and rosemary blend– whyyyyyyy?). The paper menu had the food on it– small apps, small bites, a cheese plate, and then some sandwiches and entrees. As I said before, we weren’t hungry so we just ordered some recommended and delicious-looking sweet potato fries(they were on every table we passed) and a double-pork burger to share. My dad ordered the«Bulldog Hozendrbgon» draught– a very strong lager. While we were waiting for out food, our waitress(Janey– ask for her, because she is so adorable and sweet) actually gave us time to talk about UGA and what her experience was like and giving me(who is currently college hunting) advice if I do so attend. I really appreciated her enthusiasm and willingness to take time away from her busy shift to do that for us. Anyway, the food came out in a good amount of time. It was a generous serving of sweet potato fries and I couldn’t WAIT to dig in, and the sandwich looked pretty sharp as well sitting next to a pile of their«award winning» french fries. OKAY, so my dad said the sweet fries were the best he has ever had, BUT they are a type of fry who has been in the fryer for a second or two too long to get a nice crisp to them– and I prefer«meaty» fries, if you get what I mean. They are def good, though, and I ate all of them– but expect a potato chip crunch. My dad wouldn’t stop raving about the bacon on the sandwich– it def saved the sandwich, because the pulled pork was ok and the sauce on it was just a fancy spicy mayo. The«award winning fries», though, earned their title– imagine a cleaned up and dressed up version of 5 Guys fries. They offered three fancy dipping sauces to accompany it– garlic aioli, bleu cheese, and raspberry ketchup. We ordered the bleu cheese, but we think we got the garlic instead; it wasn’t a big deal, though because it was good anyways. I was really happy with the price of it all because I decided to treat my dad that night for Father’s Day– so for an order of fries, a draught, and a sandwich meal came out to total about $ 20. It satisfied the two of us well, and if I go to UGA I know it will satisfy me one more than one occasions.

This is for sure one of the best places to grab a quality beer in Athens and will definitely be a place to find the top belgian taps. I haven’t been here at primetime and we came in on a weekend afternoon and had one of their really cool booths all to ourselves. The staff was real nice and when I find myself in Athens I always stop in here for a beer.

The beer list at Trappeze Pub wowed me with its many interesting and high-quality options. I liked that they featured a number of beers local to the Southeastern US, although the offerings leaned toward IPAs and Belgians. Unable to find a draft brown ale, my husband offered for a hefty pour of Bulleit Bourbon for $ 6. He quickly recovered from his disappointment about the beer. The bar area fills up fast, and although there are drink rails on the back wall, you’ll be in the staff’s way when you stand there. Trappeze is definitely worth a re-visit for the beer list.
