Have eaten here many times since my last review. The food is still excellent, the wait staff(as far as I can tell, they have low-virtually zero turnover) friendly and accurate. If you are in the area and looking for quality, unpretentious seafood, you should not be disappointed.

Simple, unpretentious atmosphere. Friendly service. They bring a basket of cornbread to the table when you’re served — nice alternative to rolls. Specials’ prices are very reasonable. My sister and I ate there recently, and had the clam chowder as an appetizer — pretty good. We were allowed to split a chicken nuggets lunch platter, which we love at this restaurant. We got 10 – 12 large crispy-coated nuggets, nothing like they serve at fast food restaurants. You get a choice of two sides, so we got fries and onion rings. So sharing one lunch plate was plenty of food for the two of us. We really like this place, and definitely will go back to try the seafood, if we can force ourselves to order something other than the chicken nuggets!

Authentic NE seafood with good lobster roll and fried fish. Not fancy but friendly and inexpensive. Wide choice of dishes and kids menu.

I have passed this little resteraunt many times and somehow bypassed it. There are not many choices in Athol and on a hot Summer night and busy gardening day I didn’t want to cook. I read the reviews and wasn’t sure but thought we’d try it once seeing for myself. 1.We were greeted when we entered and told we could sit anywhere. 2.our waitress came directly for our drink order and brought us cornbread. I asked some questions she was patient I had trouble deciding. Through out our meal she was super kind. 3.Both our orders came out hot and delivered in the taste department. 4.Prices affordable I had haddock and shrimp special 2 sides for 12.95.

Great seafood doesn’t require table cloths or a seaside view and this place delivers! It’s not a fancy –just fresh seafood at reasonable prices.

Not sure how the food is because we never got that far, like Robin F. below. Went in, were told to sit where we’d like, despite the«please wait to be seated sign.» So we sat right in the middle of the room and we waited. I must have read the menu a dozen times. Another couple walked in, were seated and had their drink order taken the minute they sat down and were served. Still, no acknowledgement. The owner came out of the kitchen to walk about and talk to people dining. Still, nothing. Wasn’t that busy… After about 10+ minutes we got up and left. Still don’t think they noticed us getting up and leaving. Never. Again.

Have eaten here several times because the seafood is always absolutely fresh. It is simply prepared and tasty. 4 stars for the seafood. Only 2 stars for décor and side dishes. Cornbread too sugary and salad pretty much an afterthought Staff very friendly.

Coming from a picky, seafood snob… Fried Fisherman’s Deluxe: Whole clams, scallops, shrimp, & haddock plus two sides…$ 19.95. ALLFRESHSEAFOOD! Enough for two. Cooked perfectly! Fried, but not greasy. Haddock was light and flaky. Clams were tender, not sandy or chewy. Scallops were sweet and moist. Shrimp were flavorful and not overlooked. Fast(immediate recognition & food delivered less than 10 min from order). Courteous & friendly service awaited us in this quaint, but somewhat outdated local seafood restaurant. Would rate 4.5:5 for the décor, but it is clean and probably what most would expect from a homestyle favorite. Saved on our GPS for when we’re in the area!

We visit New England Seafood at least once a month(usually more!) and are almost always quite happy with the food. Reasonable prices, friendly service. If you’re in the area, stop in!

Don’t know about the food! We were sitting for ten minutes and decided to leave because they never even acknowledged us. we left and don’t even know if they know we were there. the waitresses walked past us many times. and the owner lady… nothing. not a word. we started to wonder if we had died and didn’t know it. well I’m alive enough to write this… whew!

I was so caught off guard by their clam chowder. It was creamy and luscious. Who would have thought that delicious clam chowder could be found in this rural town that’s situated miles from the coast. My colleagues are really fond of their lobster rolls. They’ve tried lobster rolls everywhere and they claim that this ranks above the others. I have to sink my teeth into their lobster rolls one of these days. But not quite so fast because I’ already ate lobster three times last month.
