I work in the building, so it’s convenient to run down there sometimes and grab food. but 9 times out of 10 there’s a problem. the diet coke is always flat, no matter what, despite talking to staff about it. The owner — big boss — guy in the chef’s jacket, whoever he is, is very rude to customers and staff. I’ve witnessed it several times. They are often out of normal ingredients and products. The best part about this place is the staff… the guys on the grill and the cashiers are always so sweet.

This is absolutely the worst sandwich I’ve ever had. The manager made it, forget the guys name, but instead of putting my requested tuna melt on the panini maker he microwaved the tuna. Bread wasn’t even toasted, this is the worst lunch I’ve ever had.

I work in the 191 building, so it is really nice to have an option like this for those days where I need to work through lunch. And with that convenience comes with a trade-off. In this case, some underwhelming food options and occasional eye-roll worthy service. But despite everything, I find Bistro 191 to be more hit than miss. If you’re facing the manned stations, the one on the far left offers brothy noodle soups, Mexican food, or Italian food, depending on the day. The center station is two parts. The left side serves a main entrée(turkey, pork loin, etc.) and a variety of sides. Every time I go, they seem to have broccoli. They had green beans like, once. The right side does burgers, melts, and salads to which you can add chicken, salmon, or sliced beef and have it all tossed together. The station on the far right does sandwiches and wraps. Near this station is an unmanned salad and soup bar. Aside from your usual salad bar, they also include some prepared salads and deli type offerings. Some that come to mind are pasta salad, hummus, caprese salad, and grilled veggies. There are usually two different varieties of soup. The two guys who usually man the center station can be space cases, especially if there is a hot blond chick anywhere in the vicinity. I’m not hating, but really, it IS possible to flirt AND scoop my broccoli into the take-out box at the same time. I promise. Other than that, service is generally fast and courteous. Prices are also fair, especially when compared with the generally awful food of the nearby Peachtree Center food court. A meal with fountain drink will generally run between $ 6.5 and $ 8.5, but bottled drinks, desserts, and extra sides can increase your total. If you want to enjoy your lunch somewhere other than your desk, there are plenty of tables in the main lobby area of the building, next to the Bean Counter coffee shop and across from Alma Cocina. Oh yeah, and they also do breakfast! Offerings include staples like eggs, bacon, and sausage, which they can also make into a sandwich with either a biscuit or croissant. At the salad bar, they have fruits, cottage cheese, oatmeal, grits, dry packaged cereal, and muffins.

The hot plates are extremely hit and miss… mostly miss. I just finished eating their Ham with sweet potatoes and green beans and while the ham was fine, the sweet potato wasn’t fully cooked(needed a knife to cut it) and the green beans were beyond crunchy. This isn’t an isolated experience either. Their special plates are almost always a disappointment(undercooked, no seasoning or really bland side choices) Their sandwiches also tend to be a bit boring and not that great. They will make one to order, but I always end up thinking I can make a better sandwich at home than what they serve. The one good dish I have found there is the fried fish tacos. I eat at this place almost every day because I work in the building and I’m usually just getting something quick to eat at my desk so I’ve definitely sampled almost everything they serve and as a whole this place just isn’t very good. It does look very nice and things are presented well, but the execution is sorely lacking.

My company just moved to this building and I love this place! I can get a good salad from the salad bar or a tasty sandwich for under $ 6. There are also hot items, like stir-fry or burgers, which are ok, but not the best I’ve had. I love the breakfast croissants w/egg and cheese though! You have to try this place yourself to see if they have something worth while for you. It’s a hit-and-miss type… convenient though if you work in the building and need a quick meal.

This places shows company cafeteria’s how it should be done. Someone sit down and take notes, you are about to get a lesson on providing folks an outstanding meal for lunch that is healthy, tasty, and reasonably priced during the workday. This is in the 191 Peachtree Building(used to be Wachovia, across from the old Macy’s that was downtown). My only complaint of them is that they do not have signage so all the poor folks who could have a good meal don’t know that they are in there, but they have too much of a crowd without it, so its most likely for the best. There are at least 4 stations operating at all times for someone to have a vast variety in their food selection. They have some staples daily — you can have a ribeye or piece of salmon each day, they usually have either a pasta or some rice dish station, they have variety of salads, and they have a great assortment of cold and hot sandwiches. I’ve never parted with more than $ 7 — including a main dish, side, and a drink. You can sit out in the lobby area to eat your food.

Well 191 Peachtree has gotten a makeover ever since Cousins took over the building. In addition to adding seating in the main lobby area, a coffee shop and a new restaurant(not open yet), they also added a new bistro. This is awesome consider I work in the this building and its nice to not to have to go to the Peachtree Center mall for something quick. First off, you have at least 3 – 4 styles of food to choose from. There is a make your own salad bar, a oriental bar, a hot grill and a sandwich station. The menu changes on the hot grill some, but they have some consistent items every day — i.e. burgers and wraps. The food is good and the best part is the pricing. You can get a hot plate for about $ 7 – 8 with a drink. Which is a deal considering what you get. So if you work in the Downtown area, you should check out the Bistro 191.
