Buckhead Towing

They are the worst, they towed my truck because it was park illegally. That’s not the problem, the problem is when I went to get my truck from their impound I crunk my truck and my lights on the dash were on and wouldn’t turn off. I told Management the problem and filled out a grievance. Almost 2 months, 3 phone calls, and 1 more visit to their impound location, I receive a letter stating that they are denying my grievance. Not one time management called or even looked at my truck other than the management the day it was towed. I didn’t/haven’t any problems with my truck until this day in question. If you ever get towed by Buckhead towing check your vehicle out, top to bottom!!! They are a rip off !!! I will get my attorney involved to get my truck fixed!!! Sadd just Sad. And I wish I could put no stars.

Their policy is to lie. I was told that I would be charged $ 150 plus mileage plus impound fee when I called the dispatcher after my car was picked up from my accident. They said is was policy. So I asked to have them drop it off at my house. She said the car had already been impounded and the truck went to pick up another car. 15 minutes later, I was driving down I-​20 in a different car and found my wrecked car on the back of the same tow truck at a different accident. I talked to the driver and after being found red-​handed, I was charged just the $ 150 fee for towing.

Their scam is to pick up cars around town and say they were parked illegally. $ 150 later it’s your word against there’s.
To add to the scam, it’s called buckhead tow, but it’s no where near there. Hmmm.
CAUTION

Dealing with this company was like dealing with jail wardens. Through no fault of my own, I was a victim of someone who crashed into my car. I was taken to the hospital to be checked out and the police refused to allow me to use my own road service to tow it away to my mechanic, or to just leave it on this safe neighborhood street, until I can come back in a couple of hours. The police took my keys and while I’m transported by ambulance, they apparently searched my car without permission and ransacked through my belongings, as afterwards I found my car in disarray with ashtrays opened up, glove box unlocked, and other things strewn about the car. After discharge from the hospital I proceeded to retrieve my car. This towing company is located in a very out of the way and inconvenient location. There is no mass transit that conveniently locates near it, nor is it near any major highways. After calling ahead and inquiring as to what I would need to retrieve the car I arrived at the office after hours of trying to find it. With a very rude and smart alec smirk on her face, the young lady told me she would not make change for the towing payment. They also refused to even mail me change for the transaction. She suggested I walk through the neighborhood in this shady part of town to a convenience store, at night, and seek out change on my own. Fortunately for me I was able to get change from a waiting customer (victim). Apparently in addition to the hundred and twenty five dollar towing fee they get away with, they seem to think they can also extort any change from cash payments as well, as they do not tell people that exact change must be provided. Additionally they require multiple documents, as well as time spent filling out forms for their perusal. After being allowed to access my car I found labeling graffiti all over the windshield in some type of paint that they refused to remove and left me in the unsafe situation of driving at night while attempting to see through this obstruction on the glass. Whatever substance it is, I found it impossible to remove later on. Eventually I had to have it scraped off the window with a metal object. The attendant (warden) showing me to my car takes my receipt and tells me he will open the gate and for me to drive in that direction. After opening the gate he disappears for some 10 minutes or so without explanation, while I’m left to wonder what is going on with my receipt, or if he is coming back. This leaves me wondering if this is some ploy to further mistreat people who may forget and drive away without their receipt that might be used for future reimbursement, as it seemed so pointless and baffling. I also have no idea how they came up with the name Buckhead Towing Company, unless they are attempting to intentionally mislead people into what they are really about, as it is not located anywhere near that prestigious area of town, but is instead located south of downtown, almost to the airport, but in a much more out of the way place. This company seems to be nothing more than an indirect agent of Atlanta Police Department that mistreats you in a purposefully calculated and punitive manner even if you’re a guiltless victim of a car accident.

The only reason this company exists is because it has some sort of arrangement with the Atlanta police department. If anyone has a relationship with the APD, chances are they should be reported to the Better Business Bureau asap. They are rude, incompetent, and frankly, the office workers are just dumb. The company doesn’t have to do anything to maintain its business because it is spoon fed to them by the upstanding gentleman scholars in the APD. That means, for example, that when you need your car released to an insurance company, suddenly the fax machine doesn’t work. And no one has an email address. And the phone is off the hook. And you’re being charged exorbitant storage fees for two weeks while virtually wrestling with them to get your totaled car back. I’m never getting rear ended again.

I chose to use buckhead towing by calling them. They showed up and then told me they would not take an American Express. I did not have a Visa currently as my checkcard was stolen this week and I have not received a replacement. She told me, «I’m not going to argue with you. We don’t take American Express. Call your friends or family.» I informed her that I would not choose to use them in the future. It’s not like my car was towed for illegal parking. I chose to use them. I even offered to pay the extra merchant processing charges. Horrible service.

I had a fender-​bender accident one morning and the cop called this company to tow my car because they apparently have a contract with the city.
The girl/​lady who answered the phone when I called was extremely rude. They tried to trick me into using their car repair service and wanted to charge an additional $ 150 to tow my car to another place a few minutes down the road. I got another company to do it for $ 50.
Also, the car is in my parents name and they would not let me make any decisions about the car. When my dad talked to them, this same girl/​lady was rude to him as well.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

The summary: the experience with the dispatcher was a little rough around the edges, but they arrived when they said they would and were competent and courteous.
My car wouldn’t start today, and a friend mentioned Buckhead Towing.
I called them at 9:50am and told the dispatcher my current street address and the destination street address. She said she would call me back.
At 10:05am, she called back saying she couldn’t find the gas station I said I was at on a street I said I was near. It could have been my fault for mentioning too many things, but I was trying to provide all the information I could. We had a few more back-​and-​forths of not listening, but she told me that the truck was on its way and she just needed to calculate the fees for me.
Sure enough, the truck arrived about 5 minutes later. The driver was friendly enough (which is saying something, if you’ve ever dealt with tow truck drivers), and competent. Within minutes we were on our way.
I was pleased they accepted credit cards (via a phone call to the dispatcher). I don’t know if I am supposed to post rates here or not, but given the plight I was in, it was not highway robbery.
