Cirque du Soleil’s Dralion was overall a fun show, but I was very, very confused by the theme. I also got in trouble for sneaking a photo of the show… they are quite strict with that! According to Wikipedia, Dralion combines elements of a Chinese circus with the Western circus–«dragon»(representing the East) and«lion»(representing the West). Not only was this utterly confusing to me, but I’m pretty sure I saw elements from African and Indian cultures as well. I mean, this was like some Chinese guys doing a lion dance and then I think I see an Indian lady jumping out dancing, and then some African king hovering above them on the high platform the whole time– my mind cannot comprehend this! In addition to being confused about the theme, I also disliked the clowns in this show. The clowns were really unfunny and I absolutely didn’t understand their act, which came on intermittently during breaks. They were taking stupid/mindless comedy to a whole«nother» level!

I love every show that I get to see. The performers were amazing as usual along with the costumes and the music. This story of the four elements showed power and grace with every routine. The traveling shows are not as grand as the shows with a home base but outstanding all the same. This show is a must see for those that have never seen a Cirque show and for those that travel to see them all. Yes, this is a great show for children. It will keep them gazing in amazing for the entirety.

Mind. blown. Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, I think I’ve found your missing X-Men. These people cannot be human. Throughout the duration of the show, they single handedly debunked everything I knew about gravity and physics. This is Cirque’s 12th touring production and top grossing touring show. The televised production won a Primetime Emmy Award in 2000. This show is cloaked in controversy because it is the first show not to be directed by Franco Dragone and because of the underlying«East meets West» theme = Dragon(East) + Lion(West) = Dralion. The costumes, the music, everything was absolutely amazing. I was not a huge fan of the clowns but they had their moments, and after all, they are there to give the performers a well-deserved rest between the acts. This was our first Cirque show and I got our tix through saving about 50% for 200-level seats! But I easily would have paid full price for something this amazing! I am already planning when I will get to see my next Cirque Show!
