We’ve been going here for a few years now, but today I had to write a review because my daughter’s hair is just gorgeous today. The style was even better than the pictures, the braids are perfectly symmetric and the twists are the medium/small that show her length. As usual, my daughter’s hair is shiny, healthy and strong. Here are some key things I do to make sure everything goes smoothly — 1. I lightly comb out and condition my daughter’s her before she goes to the shop. That way I get control over the conditioner, she gets extra time with the treatment in her hair and the salon comb out is much easier. 2. I do drop off. I used to wait for her, but that makes for a long day. Now I drop her off and run my errands. While she is there — she has her device or she is watching movies or taking with the other girls. When she is done — so is the grocery shopping… good stuff. 3. Be specific about the style you want — if you want a specific style. I’m good for showing a picture and/specifying exactly how big/small I want to braids or twist. I have yet to have something less than I ideal when I was specific.

The salon is decent. The receptionist was professional. My daughter’s stylist was professional and patient and knowledgeable. The price was $ 45 for a wash with two strand twists. My daughter’s hair looked OK. The twists were rather large, and looked as if I’d done them at home. I may come back to see if I get a better result from getting her hair braided. I think its worth trying if you are looking for a salon but because of the end result, I can’t in good conscience give this place more than 3 stars. Its close to 285 so that’s a plus. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy though. I would not want to be in this neighborhood after dark. The salon is stand alone so if you go and just travel from salon to your location you’ll be ok however I stopped in a plaza on the way home and some of the characters in the store and in the plaza were kind of scary looking.

If you’ve got plenty of time(as in 3+ hrs) to wait around for a simple press and curl & trim on less than shoulder-length hair, this is the place for you.

My 2-yr old son needed a haircut like nobody’s business. This would have been his third. The first was at a regular barbershop. It was traumatic for both of us — but they were exceedingly patient and got the job done. Second one was at a different barbershop, and while my son was still not happy, the barber was awesome and did a great job. Fast forward about 5 months, and his hair had gone from cute textured fro to borderline homeless-looking. Welp! I had been researching shops for and figured I’d try one of the salons/barbershops for kids. There were several closer to me, but the reviews from black parents were either nonexistent or negative. I was super excited when I saw curls to cuts! I called and got a same day appointment with no problem, and the receptionist was REALLY nice. I make the 30 minute drive and arrive a little late, though the barber was still finishing up a previous cut. I waited a little while, and since my son was getting squirmy, I decide to wander into the shop so that he could watch other kids getting their hair cut/done, with hopes that it would help calm him down when it was his turn. When I called initially, I’d asked if they had movies playing for kids, toys, etc.,(which is offered at the kids salons over here) and they’d said they had a firetruck chair for little boys to keep them distracted during the cut. I acknowledged the chair but asked about additional distractions, and was again told about this truck. Given the excitement and assurance in the receptionist’s voice, I figured it must be THEMOST dynamic device ever, for it to be able to so fully capture a child’s attention. Chile, the chair was about rickety as hell, with a barely functional bell, a barely secured steering well, and some other thing that only seemed great at making loud noises. It was also super dusty. My heart sank. The barber finishes up her client, who looked about 15, and then proceeds to sweep up the station. My son is already in the chair waiting. I get antsy, because as any parent knows, you have a small window of opportunity at best before all hell breaks loose. Let’s be real. Toddlers aren’t exactly known for their patience! Eventually, the receptionist volunteers to clean the station so that the barber can get started on my son. She ties something around his neck to keep hair off of him, and he immediately starts tugging at it. She then puts a duck cape on him. He loves ducks so I’m trying to distract him with the ducks, as he’s already getting agitated. From there, she leans down, distracts him from the video I’ve given him to watch on my phone to keep him distracted, and tries to talk to him. At this point, this is my face, I’m bracing for disaster. She succeeds at capturing his attention, and he’s totally annoyed that this stranger has insisted on distracting him from his video. It’s at this point, when she’s annoyed him and directed his attention to her, that she starts prepping for the cut. My blood pressure is sky high, and my nerves are already shot. By now, my son is agitated, trying to rip the cape off, and its clear she’s not really used to reading the cues of kids. She then suggests we comb his hair out, as the clippers will pull the hair if it’s not combed out. Previously, barbers had been able to cut it without it being combed out. He has beautiful hair, but it’s very coily, so even if you comb it, it immediately coils back up. We try cutting it, she seems skittish because he’s fighting. She stops, we try combing a section, he’s still fighting, she stops. At this point, I’m feeling frustrated because it’s clear she’s not used to working with kids who don’t like haircuts, and doesn’t really have any suggestions. But don’t many young boys not like haircuts and fight it? She doesn’t seem confident at all, so I lose faith and am like, you know what, we’ll try again another time. The words were barely out of my mouth before she was like, Ok! Sorry! I couldn’t believe that the regular barbers I’d gone to previously, were able to manage my son better than this stylist at a salon intended for kids! Sure, he can be quite the handful, particularly when upset, but I’d never left without a haircut. This was the first time that the stylist didn’t work with us to try to find a solution. I left REALLY disappointed and would absolutely not recommend this shop for your son’s haircut unless your son is older, use to getting his hair cut, or just one of these super calm toddlers not phased by much.

Reasonable prices and the ladies style the hair really well. Parking lot is very crowded and hard to get out of. I also did not like the fact that I was basically harassed repeatedly to give my daughter’s hair a trim when I said I didn’t want cutting and another time I saw a hairdresser screaming at a crying girl to sit down. She yelled at her a couple times. I stopped going after that.

I took my daughter here two weeks ago, and her hair still looks brand new. Miesha did her hair and she made my baby feel like a princess. My daughters hair is really short and thick, and usually people add weave in it to give it some length but not Miesha. She was able to braid my daughter’s hair and put beads on the ends. I left my daughter there so I could handle some things and when I return my daughter was ready. Miesha spoke with me and told me how to keep my daughter’s hair healthy. The set up is really kid friendly as well. I am so happy that there is a place to take kids so that they too can feel special and beautiful. I will be taking my daughter back to Curls to Cuts.

I visited for the first time & I’ll just tell my experience. Walked in, was told to wait one moment by the receptionist(without eye contact) after waiting she asked what I wanted on my daughter. I let her know I would like to consult with the stylist on what she thought would be good due my daughter has major breakage.(I booked an online appt at 2:30, my child was in the chair at 4) The consultation was not really a consultation, the stylist wasn’t friendly, nor did she make me feel welcomed(as a 1st timer), She didn’t introduce herself nor greet me with a smile. I asked her what she thought my child should get due to the damage & she advised that she get the two strand twist, which I agreed. She didn’t discuss what steps we need to take to get her hair back growing, nor what products she would use. After she was done it was cute 9even though it made her hair look even shorter then it was) however it didn’t last 24 hours. By the time she woke up the next morning(with a scarf on all night) the style was done($ 45.00). The twist were coming apart & I had to wash it out because it was horrible! Just by looking at it, it looked like it was rushed. Some twist weren’t twisted all the way nor at the root, but she did put rods on the end, so the curls actually disguised the real twist. I guess it’s all in what stylist you get b/c clearly everyone elses hair was soooo cute with the press & curls & even twist by other stylist, but maybe I set my appt. with a stylist that really didn’t specialize in damaged short hair nor from my experience did she really care. So my advice to you is, if you’re thinking of going here, maybe call & speak with someone that can advise you on what stylist your daughter should go to if she doesn’t have long hair & has breakage. I won’t be going back, I’d rather take her to an adult salon that speializes in natural hair & let them care for her hair. I don’t feel cmfortable going back & trying another stylist.

A great salon for children. Clean and professional are the things I look for the most and this salon has it all.
