I’ve seen the Dames Aflame countless times. This shouldn’t be a surprise when you consider«hot chicks» and«pasties» are the operative words here. I’ve seen them backing up Kingsized in many an Elvis show, I’ve seen them hula at Trader Vic’s. I’ve seen them in their own burlesque show back when it was at the Vortex and, most recently, I’ve seen them at Paris on Ponce for their Valentine’s Day show.(And, might I add, that a week after we get married, my wife wanted to spend our Valentine’s Day at a burlesque show? Best. Wife. Ever.) As with most properly done burlesque, their shows are the right amount of sass and sex. In fact, it never seems tawdry… unless you count Big Mike’s strongman shtick. And really, there isn’t enough mind bleach in the world for that one. For their Valentine’s show, interspersed between the dances were the comedic styling of Master Shake himself, Dana Snyder who sang and joked and only a couple of times sounded like Master Shake telling dirty jokes which made the jokes even better because everything sounds funnier when spoken by an anthropomorphic milkshake. The women whom I’ve seen Dames Aflame with are simultaneously in awe of their costumes(and subsequent costume changes) and a bit envious of the boobie action. As a man, I too am envious of their boobie action, but in an entirely different way. So in honor of this past Valentine’s(and all future performances too), I leave you with a small poem: Roses are red. Gerbera daisies are orange. Dames Aflame are great and, dammit! Who uses«orange» in a poem anyway? Asshole.

Did someone mentioned the Dames Aflames in our beloved Atlanta Unilocal talk? Yes, they did! Oh, the Dames Aflames… so, so, SOHOT! Here’s the straight girl confessing: I saw the Dames Alfames in a Whitespace Gallery event and I drooled during the whole show! Those girls surely know how to bring on SEXY! Take that and combine with little, humorous moments… as they say somewhere in their website, they are experts in putting together«the best fiesty blend of burlesque» in the«Showbiz that Sizzles». These talented dancers are fun, gorgeous and glamorous, and put on great performing numbers with terrific, cool music. Their costumes are beautiful and layer by layer, they become scarce while the tunes unfold. So… watch out if you’re not into looking at curvy, semi-nekkid, dancing showgirls’ bodies! Take a peek of their website. It’s a fun place to navigate and to read phrases like«tossed salad, if you will, of Atlanta’s fashionistas, artisti and intelligentsia…» You’ll be also surprised on how famous they are! They have performed in an important number of well-known venues and TV shows, as well as fantastic charity events. If you’re curious(or dying) to see them, they will be tomorrow on the Engine 33BBQ’s Fire Truck at the Inman Park Parade. Enjoy!(I mean it!)
