The clerks here have a novel way of annoying customers: they’ve glued a quarter firmly to the carpet. I’ve been accosted by scary dudes twice at Edgewood, most recently by a dude who spat in my face and shoved me so he’d have a chance to grab my wife’s purse from her wheelchair-buggy. This GameStop is just as much fun. I presume that they’ve glued the quarter down so they can laugh at poor people who could really use an extra 25 cents towards a bag of rice over at the Kroger across the street. This time I was having a crappy day and was delighted to spot a quarter. Finally, I thought to myself, SOMETHING is going right! I left quickly, before the little girls in the Nintendo DS corner heard me say what exactly those clerks have in common with Oedipus. But I’m done spending money at this store.

The best thing about this place is the cute guy with the beard that works there. Seriously.(Hi cute-beard-guy!) I have gotten a bunch of used games, and pretty cheap mostly. Other than that, they really rip you when trading stuff in, but then again, I didn’t want it anymore, so I guess it wasn’t a big deal. The prices on the new stuff does tend to be several dollars higher than you can purchase it for at the neighboring Best Buy or Target, so I would skip that stuff, and just use this place for the used selection.

As far as video game stores go, the selection here is pretty poor. Yes, they’ve got all the major titles and a big selection of used games and movies, but nothing that you wouldn’t find at any other EB Games, Gamestop, etc. The real thing that makes this place annoying to me is that it seems to attract too many of the local kids who are playing the demo units at the front of the store and milling around inside aimlessly while they wait for their turn to play again. You encounter that at any game shop these days, but these kids are constantly scamming and asking people in the store if they can have a couple of bucks to buy a used game. When the staff bothers to kick them out(rarely), they hang out around the corner from the entrance and do the same. I always get asked by some kid to take a game inside for him and sell it for him since the store won’t buy from him anymore. Too much of a pain in the ass and I only go here when I’m looking for something that’s sold out at the half dozen other places I looked first.

Who knew EB Games carried oodles of used DVDs for $ 5.99? This was my discovery a few weeks ago when I went into EB Games in the Edgewood Retail District. The customer service was excellent and there were heaps of new and used gaming accessories, Xbox, Nintendo, Play Station, Game Boy Advance, Sony PSP and other game system games. Based on the game system, new and used games range in price from less than $ 10 to upwards of $ 30. For parents reading this review, you’ll especially appreciate the sales guy. A minor attempted to buy a game with a Mature label and he was carded. As a result of his age, the sales guy did not sell him anything with a mature label. It’s always good to see people that care more about well being than the all mighty dollar! EB Games has several stores in the metro area. Even if you’re not into games, like me, they have an awesome used DVD section with a lot of the latest movies. For details go to .
