Today you can find me tucked away in a conference room amongst a handful of like minded writers. About 20 minutes early, I waltz into the building, not knowing which way to go, but excited. See, today Mrs. Leslie E. Royal was speaking about getting published, so I just HAD to be there. Like any other eager, hungry writer, I ceased the opportunity to listen and learn whatever it was that she wanted to teach. The library has seen better days, but it’s doors haven’t closed yet! This branch is merging with 2 other branches and will be moving, so the building has an eerie tone of emptiness. I believe that the friendly +people I met today balanced out that eerie feeling. Just as friendly as he could be, the security guard helped me get to my destination once I was inside. On my way to room 205, I glaced at timeless black and white pictures of afros and more youthful times of the library. Mrs. Joia Ellis-Dinkins softly greets me and introduces me to the speaker once I make it to the room. Beyond elated, I begin my «sponge» process and start taking it all in! This library houses a multitude of books and has these sorts of events often. Stop by before they close:)
