I typically go to Highland Bakery a few times a month. It’s a great, fast option for brunch. The large menu ensures that everyone in your party will be able to find something they’ll enjoy. I typically alternate between the French toast and the Hill Grill sandwich. You can also customize your own breakfast sandwich from a good selection of breads and meats. Highland Bakery is also good for takeout when you’re in a hurry. They typically fill orders in 10min or less.

I went here for my birthday lunch with coworkers. I decided to go with an omelette as I was in the mood for a good breakfast. I wasn’t impressed. A coworker and I were talking later and she said the same thing. She got soup and a sandwich. I’ve heard their pastries are better.

Awful service, mediocre food, over priced. Also, their baked goods case is always empty. How are you a bakery?

Me again… this place is still super bad… We keep coming here because it’s in our building and somewhat unavoidable. My coworker and I called in separate lunch orders at 12:36 today. When were both told it would be 5 – 10 minutes. When we went down to pick up our orders, mine was ready but the other person’s «wasn’t in the system» according to the woman working the register. Instead of assuming something had gone wrong, she proceeded to waste the next 3+ minutes asking each employee at HB if s/he had put an order in for a «Rustic Italian Sandwich»…almost implying my coworker never put the order in? Each person she asked said«no» of course, even the one who definitely took the order. This is besides the point… in this situation, the correct response is to say, «Oh, I’m sorry, something must have gone wrong and it’s not in the system. What did you order? We’ll get it in for you ASAP!» and then turn to the kitchen(which is RIGHTTHERE) and say, «Guys, I need a rush on a Rustic Italian because the order got lost!» This didn’t happen. The order was finally put in the system and we waited. And waited… At some point, another employee came over and said to my coworker, «We’re out of mozzarella. Did you want a grilled cheese instead?» If you’re not familiar with the Rustic Italian(and why would you be), it is a breakfast-style sandwich with eggs, veggies and(typically) cheddar cheese(per the menu). Obviously, my coworker was confused… first, the sandwich comes with cheddar, so why does it matter that you’re out of mozzarella; and second, even if it came with mozzarella typically, that’s a huge jump from an egg & veggie based sandwich to a grilled cheese, aimright?! We cleared up the cheese situation and finally had the to-go lunch a full 30+ minutes after we called the orders in. No apology(which would have been enough if handled properly). No offer for a coupon or discount. Just mean mugs from the employee who was originally at the register. So we get back upstairs and my coworker realizes that the bottom half of her sandwich(which is supposed to come on rosemary focaccia) was made with raisin bread?! Raisin bread + eggs + veggies + cheddar — mozzarella = barf. 3 other random SN’s: 1. The kitchen staff don’t wear hats/hairnets. IDK if that’s a state regulation, but it’s been a requirement in every restaurant I’ve ever worked in. 2. One time I ordered a lemon square(pre GF days) and it was COVERED in a heap of flour(as opposed to powdered sugar) and tasted terrible… because ya know… raw flour is gross. 3. I wrote this review(even though it wasn’t my food) because my food was sitting there getting cold while we waited for my coworker’s. So I was as fired up as her.

Just when I thought this place was getting better, they took another turn for the worse. After calling in an order, they were unable to find it in their system when I went to pick it up. Instead of just apologizing and entering it, the cashier asked every server if they had taken the order and then stared at me when they told her«no». She finally entered it herself and I went to wait for my food. A few minutes later a server came over to tell me the were out of mozzarella and asked if i wanted to substitute a grilled cheese. I ordered the Rustic Italian(which is far from a grilled cheese) so I just asked her to substitute cheddar for the mozzarella which appeared to blow her mind. After waiting close to 30 minutes, I finally got my order. I went back to my office to eat and at the first bite, it was apparent that something was very wrong — they used cinnamon toast instead of rosemary focaccia. There are a lot of things that I can overlook and I totally understand that things happen, but there was never a single apology or attempt to compensate for all the extra time I had to wait for their mistake. Basic rule of food service — if the customer complains, the first words out of your mouth should be «i’m sorry.» On another note the coffee here has gotten much worse as well. It used to always taste kind of burnt, but has gone the complete opposite direction and now is watery.

I just love the original Highland Bakery off of Highland. As I live closer to Buckhead, I have been excited to have brunch at the Peachtree location. Today I ventured out specifically to come here. To my great disappointment, this location is not a full restaurant(no fryer on premises so now Fried Chicken Benedict). Their menu lacked some favorite items or even a cup of coffee in a coffee mug. This place is a café version of its parent. It probably serves the Buckhead weekday business community well for a quick stop, but it does not satisfy a weekend bruncher looking for his favorites. There is also only café style seating, most of it outside on the plaza. This place should be advertised as a Highland Bakery Café in its signage so that expectations can be set appropriately. I left and went to one of the full service restaurants at Lenox Square.

Loved the sweet potato pancakes and the ricotta pancakes. The peanut butter French toast was incredible. Did not like the salmon in my omelette. It was too salty

Went for lunch. The sandwich was great but the bakery goods were shockingly bad! No signs describing the items, obviously damaged goods and of the two items I tried; both were inedible. I’m am shocked it manages to maintain any customers.

It was an early morning at the office and I was starving by 10:30. I suggested Highland Bakery, as I hadn’t tried this location yet, and I love the Highland Bakery downtown. The Buckhead Highland Bakery is just a skip and a hop away from my office across the street. The men(and one woman) working the register and the kitchen were super friendly(especially to my beautiful coworkers). I ordered an omelette with a sweet potato biscuit. The omelette is a plain omelette, which was pretty cheap, but you can add on toppings with an extra cost. I added turkey sausage, mushrooms and seasonal veggies. The total ended up being $ 11.73, which deterred me from ordering a much needed coffee. However, the meal was so filling that I ate a little more than half, as it also came with seasoned potatoes. The omelette was only ok; the cost really turned me off. I can make my own omelettes for a fraction of the cost… The potatoes were beautifully seasoned(ketchup, who?) and the sweet potato biscuit was crumbly and fluffy at the same time. Overall a hearty meal, although the cost does leave a little to be desired. $ 11.73 for a to-go breakfast is a little out of my budget…

Amazing breakfast had an omelet with shrimp and peppers. My wife had the breakfast burritos with corn salsa and black beans. The service was amazing has atleast 3 different people check in on us. And they thanked us for coming in on our way out.

Amazing brunch. I chose to go to this location of Highland Bakery because it’s a lot closer to my apartment in Buckhead, and there was no wait for 2 people on a Saturday at 11(which is rare). It’s a tiny place, that also has outdoor seating. There’s a whole display of yummy looking bakery items. My friend and I split the peanut butter French toast, half order of the Sweet Potato pancake and the Highland Breakfast. Everything was absolutely delicious. The Peanut Butter French toast was«outta this world». Not something you have everyday, but boy was it delicious. Packed with flavor between the tasty syrup sauce, peanut butter and made with Challah bread(best bread for French toast). The serving was huge. Top 3 French toasts I’ve ever had, and I always get French toast at breakfast/brunch places. The Sweet Potato pancake was also very good. A nice crisp on the outside with a very good taste. The Highland Breakfast came with eggs, choice of meat and side. We got the bacon and potatoes. The potatoes were very good with a nice crisp. The flavor was good and seasoned well. The eggs even had a great flavor. The service was great. Took a little long to get our food, compared to how many people were at the restaurant, but no complaints because the food was delicious and the waiter was attentive. There’s few parking spaces but I was lucky and got one up front. Definitely recommend.

This place is good for on the move eating, but had brunch here with my boyfriend and it was not bad but not fantastic. The Server gave us a free cupcake and hot chocolate. Great customer service and clean establishment.

I’ve been to this place a few times on Sunday mornings and they’ve yet to disappoint. I’m glad a friend introduced us to this place, since the brunch wait in Atlanta is usually an hour or more. We’ve never waited more than 20 minutes to dine at this location! The staff has always been pleasant with no problems with any of the food. I’m glad they serve turkey sausage as a breakfast alternative and come with a big appetite if you order oatmeal for your meal. It’s humongous!

I’m ‘upgrading’ my review from 2.5 stars to 2.89(still not deserving of a 3). Last time I was here, staff and stoic manager were stiff, cold, and unpleasant. There’s a new manager now, who is quick, efficient, and doesn’t look like she’s gonna growl at you. Big improvement from last time– staff was nicer which made the place seem warmer. However, my biscuit was a little boring. Their famed sweet potato biscuit tasted like a stale donut with too much cinnamon, not anything like the goodness I had at the Va Highland location. The guy taking my order was careless so that I had to return for times — for water, jam, etc. Annoying. And slow– don’t expect a quick bite here. It was also lame that they closed early on President’s Day– a big shopping day.

Despite some of the negative reviews, I decided to come here for brunch today. Some points: 1) My husband & I sat for a good 10 mins before anyone came by our table. Once she did come over, she didn’t introduce herself, & failed to bring part of our order(French toast), until we reminded her of it. The rest of our experience was alright, nothing special but not completely bad either. 2) The food was a hit/miss situation. We were told that they didn’t have sweet tea, grits, potatoes, & Challah bread. We ordered a plain biscuit, the crab cakes Benedict, the rustic Italian with a side of turkey sausage & grilled chicken, & French toast. The biscuit, the Benedict & turkey sausage were hits. The rustic Italian was good but the bread at the bottom got so soaked by the juice & weight of the rest of the food, it was soggy and tasteless, & the chicken was not fresh. The French toast was made with regular wheat toast & I’ve had a lot better versions elsewhere, although the sweet cream & syrup were great! Decent place but I can see the reason behind all the other reviews. If I want to have the food again, I’ll definitely be going to one of the other locations.

I came in for a quick jolt of caffeine with their house coffee before finishing the walk down to Lenox Square. Their The rest of the menu looks really tasty as I watched some of the plates even be brought out. Might consider this place next time I am passing by.

After all these years of going to the one in VA Highlands I finally tried this location. I might be biased but I enjoy the other one better. I felt there was a little something missing on the food side. The service though was excellent as usual. I always have a great experience at Highland Bakery.

I’ve read good reviews about Highland Bakery and I wanted to try it out, so my family went to the location in Buckhead for breakfast this past Sunday. We came at about 8:45am to beat the morning rush. The food was average here, but the service was dreadful. First, I would not recommend this location if you are coming here with a big group. This location, housed in the Atlanta Financial Center, is more akin to a coffee shop and there’s not really any seating for guests wanting to dine in. They had to create a table for our party outside in the entrance area of the Financial Center. Second, their computers were down that day, which caused a lot of problems. After being sat down outside, we waited for about 10 minutes for someone to come take our drink orders. No one came, and I went back inside to inform the employee at the register that our group was ready to order. After that, we waited another 20 minutes. We were very annoyed when a couple next to us(the only other party seated outside) arrived 15 minutes after our group, ordered, and received their food before we even received our drinks. I completely understand that with the computers being down that there will be some confusion. However, it should not have arisen to the level of bad service that we received, especially with a dedicated server put in charge of our section of the restaurant. I haven’t given up on Highland Bakery yet. My sister tells me that the original location in Old Fourth Ward is worth going to. I will not, however, likely revisit the Buckhead location anytime soon.

Love, love, love this place! My first visit was at the Midtown location. I had the Cilantro Corn Pancakes and my husband had the Breakfast BLT. The corn pancakes were a delightful variation that were tasty and fluffy. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his BLT. Both were generous sized servings. Our recent visit was at the Buckhead location. My husband and I split the Rustic Italtian and the blueberry crumb cake. At the waitresses recommendation we had the crumb cake warmed… it was delicous… plump, sweet blueberries along with the just right amount of crumble to the crumb cake. Another generous portion for the Rustic Italian. The flavors combined were wonderful, something I probably wouldn’t venture at home doing. Will be back for sure!

Overall, really satisfying and great no-wait brunch on Easter Sunday. Walked here from the Westin(located same side of street. about 5 mins away) and learned this location has been open for about 3 years. I first noted the one around Inman Park off Highland when checking out Parish just down the block from it. Very wonderful portions of solid breakfast food… menu can be innovative. Liked tapping into MSG’s cilantro corn pancakes with black beans, salsa, and fresh garnish. Cappuccino was made with tight foam… really good, strong cuppa. Sad thing about this bakery is that it’s eclipsed by a much savvier real estate and high visibility corner across the street, where Maggiano’s is. Hard to see this off Peachtree unless one is looking for it. Glad we saw it! PS There is atrium seating ‘outdoor indoor’ inside of a large business building. Nothing but street parking. Glad we walked!
