Holiday Inn Express & Suites Atlanta Buckhead

This property does dumpster collection 4 – 5 times a week VERY early in the morning. Sometimes, it’s as early as 3:30AM. But it’s mostly between 5−6AM. Each time, they have to shake out the dumpster, which causes a very loud crashing noise. I get awakened each time they do this. It’s against the law to do dumpster trash collection before 7AM on weekdays and 9AM on weekends in Atlanta.
I live next door to this property and, although I’ve talked to them online several times and visited the hotel to complain, they still do nothing to mitigate the problem, even though they always say they will.
If you care about a good night’s sleep, this is NOT the hotel to stay at, which is too bad, because it’s in a great location.

Back in town for another conference. Once again, our corporate office made my travel arrangements. Arrived Sunday and wanted to see if things had improved since my original review. I took 3 small pieces of notebook paper and placed them on the floor, in separate, but very obvious locations. It is now Wednesday and those same 3 pieces of paper have not moved!
I have now written an email to the corporate office. I come back in November and hope to not play this game again. Walking around with my shoes on!

The hotel is nicer looking than any of the others we’ve stayed at this trip. The staff was friendly, the room is pretty nice. I really liked the shower (no tub, door instead of curtain). Breakfast in the morning was good, different from other holiday inn express locations though. The egg omelette thing was weird. Other locations it’s just egg and cheese, this one had some weird gelatinous substance and it was pretty gross. Only grown up cereals too like corn flakes and raisin bran. Last HIE we stayed in had fruity pebbles and stuff. Probably irrelevant.
Bed is comfy, bathroom was nice, some of the tv channels are fuzzy.
Only downside we’ve experienced were the people that checked in our first night in the room next to us repeatedly slammed their room door. And when we went out today and came back our keys didn’t work. To the 6^th floor and back 3 times before they fixed them.
Overall I’d stay here again if I was ever in the area.

This place used to be a Countrywood Suites and it is nowhere near the level of Holiday Inn Expresses you may have encountered in the past. I will say the staff is friendly but there needs to be a great deal of work to this hotel for the price they are charging.
I will start with the good. The fitness center had quality equipment in that the treadmill, elliptical, and bike were Life Fitness equipment. In the fitness center you will find the laundry area which is free for guest. The breakfast served in the morning was sufficient and nothing more spectacular than what you get at any other hotel for breakfast.
Now to the bad. I am judging this off of other Holiday Inn Expresses I have stayed in and this is one of the worst as far as the room. I hope that there is a plan to remodel. The room I stayed in was just thrown together. The socket was missing a fsceplate, the window was cracked, and there were stains on the rug. I expected much more from Holiday Inn and after this room I can confidently say I will not return to this hotel and will not recommend this hotel to anyone.
