I absolutely loved participating in Unilocal’s «In It to Thin It»(IITTI) weight-loss competition this year( ). Since I couldn’t fit everything I wanted to say in my review for the competition, here’s a little more on that experience: Personally, I gave up red meat and alcohol for the seven weeks of IITTI, and I actually exercised at least three times a week. Of course, all of the free group fitness activities helped with the exercising. I much prefer group fitness classes over working out solo in the gym. Ultimately, I lost 9.63% of my starting weight. Although I didn’t win(congrats to winner Asma A. for losing 13.79% of her weight and winning $ 150, the sum of everyone’s buy-in), I did place 4th and was proud of my accomplishment.(See the final results here: ) ~Field Day @ Murphey Candler Park — 02.24.13~ Per the IITTI event site, «For the team who wins Field Day(overall team weight loss will play in to the Field Day points tallies — kind of like the House Cup at Hogwarts), either Kathleen M. or Heidi P. will plan a most fantastic event to celebrate the winners!» Since the field day activities, such as the three-legged race and hoola hoop contest, were kind of sporadic, I wasn’t sure if our overall team weight loss really played into the Field Day points. The winners of the three-legged race(Yolanda M. and Emily H.) won Shake Weights and Emily H. also won an Abmat for winning the hoola hood contest! Ultimately, Team OTP won the IITTI competition overall, so they will have a celebration. Not sure where or when that will be, but congrats to them… and =(for me. The healthy potluck was great. I especially enjoyed Lindy F.‘s amazing curried chicken salad sandwiches and cucumber sandwiches. They were AMAZING! Overall, IITTI Field Day 2013 gets 4 stars for being a fun excuse to have a healthy potluck and hang out with fellow Unilocalers. It was particularly warm and sunny that day, which was surprising for February. Since I burn easily, I was thankful for our little Unilocal tent, which I spent most of my time under. =) Thanks so much to our wonderful CMs, Kathleen M.(ITP) and Heidi P.(OTP) for all of their hard work organizing IITTI2013! I had a great time, met many awesome Unilocalers, and hope that I can participate again next year. =) [Review 012 of 100]

What a gorgeous day! Who doesn’t love being transported to their childhood on occasion? I’m not sure if that was part of the intention of the field day, but the hoola hoops, three legged race, tug-of-war, Frisbees, and 80s music all brought me back in time. It was especially great because I could compete in all of the field day activities I used to be horrible at as a child, and see how much growing another foot and a half can really help in a three-legged race!(an awesome partner also helps). I also loved all of the healthy dishes everyone brought for the pot luck lunch. See? We can still party and be healthy at the same time. The CM’s really did a fantastic job, and it was a great way to end In It To Thin It! I really hope they do it again next year!

The ladies of Unilocal strike again. I’m not sure how they make organizing a Unilocal event look so easy, but this was fun in the sun with a healthy kick! Food, drinks, fun activities and great camaraderie. There were contests including OTP vs. ITP tug of war(OTP wins, YAY), and the reading of the final results of the In It To Win It weight loss results for 2013. Even though I was not able to participate myself this year, I did all I could to lend morale support to both sides throughout the last 7 weeks and being able to participate in such a fun finale event with the participants made me excited for next year’s IITTI competition. Bring It On!
