We went to a birthday party here last night for 2 friends of ours. First, there was ONLY valet parking, they had cars blocking off the self parking lot. Valet was $ 20. Then to get in was $ 10. The only people in the place where my friends guest… which was ok with us. There wasn’t a dj and towards to end of the night the music stopped. My friends complained and they put on a cd with songs from the 80’s. Music you’d listen to while cleaning your house. Then at 1am they cut the lights on… even though site say’s 2:30am. Mind you some of their guest had just paid valet, door and bought a drink. The bouncer/security guard started yelling«time to go». My friends didn’t even get to cut the cake and people had to leave their drinks on the bar. This place will not last long due to GREED!!! Trust, I am not cheap but what right is right. Maybe this is why the club has changed names 3x’s in 2 years.

I have lived in Atlanta for 9 years and have never had an experience as awful as Ixtlan. Server could not tell us what types of wine or beer were available, nor did she know prices. Server spilled drink and broke glass on us, then tried to charge us for the drink she spilled. When I ordered water with my drink, she brought me a bottle of water and charged me $ 3 for it when I had just asked for a glass of water. Fod tasted like it had been purchased iin the frozen food section at Costco and heated up. Bartenders drinks were not drinkable. The next day I discovered our server charged me 3 times for my bill. When I tried to call to resolve this, I have been given the run around for 2 days and been hung up on by employees.

I just got back from a private party that was held at Ixtlan and I have nothing but amazing things to say about them! They had a buffet for us and the food was PHENOMENAL, I couldn’t get enough– there were blackened fish tacos with pico, sweet potato fries(a staple at restaurants now, which is OK by me!), gourmet wings(with a fantastic honey bbq sauce), calamari, and perfectly crunchy spring rolls with a sweet chili sauce. The food was served at 945p and it kept coming out until around 1115p, we did not go hungry. And, just when we thought that was all, out came the sweet potato cheesecake. I’d never had sweet potato cheesecake, but I plan on figuring out how to make it because YUM! The music was a good mix of current, recent past, and even a couple of throwbacks to the 80’s and early 90’s and though it was loud enough to enjoy, it wasn’t so loud that I couldn’t hear the person next to me– something I frequently get irritated with in bars. The atmosphere was also pretty great– the building is circular(it’s the old Pie Bar) and they’ve done a great job fitting the outside walls with cushy benches and placing large ottomans with trays that can be moved around to fit your needs. The only bad thing about the ottomans was the drunk people who plopped themselves down and spilled the trays over, but that’s obviously not Ixtlan’s fault! A patio completes the bar, and since it was cold outside they had a vegas-style tent with space heaters up so that smokers could go outside, and a pool table was available in the very back to those who needed a diversion. Chelsea was our contact there and she was fantastic– she touched base with everyone throughout the night, made sure things ran smoothly, and did her best to make sure we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Final word: TRYITOUT! Even if you’re not throwing a very affordable event there, the food is delish and the staff is really friendly and very hardworking!
