My burger? To die for! Instead of a bun, I went for the sourdough bread for my spicy jalapenos burger. And boy, was it spicy. Just the way I like it. My sis had a burger with mushroom, and was looking as satisfied.

This place is awful. They gave us ordered food but refused to seat us. We came there in the middle of the day(two adults and a kid), sat in the bar(two chairs were present, I was walking around so that was not a problem at that moment) placed an order. After they brought food, I returned(was in the shop close to that place) and asked if we can move to one of the free tables(plenty of them were present). The answer was surprising: «No. You should sit where you placed the order.» For our situation that meant that I had to eat standing. Never saw such awful service and such absurd rules, never ever come to this place.

Although it’s in Phipps plaza the Streamliner vegetarian sandwich I got was sub-par at best. My whole wheat bun was cold. What’s so unfortunate is that I played up this place to my fiancé who had never been to Johnny rockets before. Johnny Rockets has been so good throughout my life, but the Sandy springs location I’ve always gone to is shut down. T He liked his Smokehouse burger and he got a apple pie Ala mode milkshake which tasted like vanilla pudding… he says he likes Steak and shake better. The service was really good, I wish I could say as much for the food.

Came here on a Monday evening and it wasn’t crowded at all. We just came for ice cream and I ordered the Oreo Milkshake. It was so good! The waitress gives you a nickel for the jukebox, which is fun. I’ve never experience that at another Johnny Rocket’s. I’m not sure if the Jukebox actually works I don’t think we ever heard our song, but it was still fun. With my milkshake they even have you the left overs that wouldn’t fit in the glass. Cute spot.

We ordered a kids burger, a kid hot dog and an adult burger(traditional I think it is called), milkshake and Coke, and fries. Food was ok, the waiter did a good job working the tables. The kids liked the food, we probably would come back again. Paid $ 33 including tip.

Sat down at the bar to get a milkshake at 5:50. A waiter came by and told me they were closed. I checked Unilocal for the hours and the place closes at 6:30. I guess someone needs to inform the wait staff… and the owner.

To this day, nothing quite hits the spot like Johnny Rockets. This location at Phipps mall isn’t ideal, but they’ve managed to capture the iconic JR feel tucked amongst the high end shops, movie theater, and Legoland. I will caution: Beware the crowds. There can be a serious wait, especially on the weekends and at peak hours. Practice queuing and wait for the stools at the counter if need be. I’ve seen several conflicts when someone strolls up and grabs a seat out of turn. On to the food. Obviously, the Johnny Rockets burgers and shakes are the cornerstone of their retro menu. The premium shakes are worth the upcharge. I’m stuck right now because I keep going back to the M&M’s shake. I can’t get enough of it! But there are plenty of great options. The cookies and cream, the butterfinger, etc. all merit a try. When it comes to the burgers, the Route 66 is a solid choice — a little more complex than the usual burger ingredients, but not quite a gourmet item. The Rocket single or double is very good. The sauce has a creamy base that enhances the onion flavor, but adds a dairy nuance that changes the whole burger. Of course, the original is great. You should get exactly what you’re hoping for. Outside of burgers, I’ve always loved the tuna salad sandwich at JR. They just have a great — albeit simple — tuna salad recipe and then put a hearty helping of it on some underrated wheat bread with a little lettuce and mayo. If you want to go lighter, this is a great route. Don’t be deterred from tuna salad at a restaurant. It’s foolish to avoid it, unless you don’t like tuna that is. I’ve tried the Philly cheese steak. It’s also pretty good; it may not be authentic, but it’s rich and hits on the same notes as the genuine article. The fries aren’t bad. They’re a little generic, but with a little help, they can be really good too. For example, get the cheese fries, but ask for shredded cheese instead of the liquid stuff — way better experience. The staff are generally good, but occasionally you get a dingbat server. When we get our usual server, he’s great, but one time we had a waitress who was clueless. She sat us at one table; then insisted we move. She took forever to bring our milkshakes and they were totally melted. It was a terrible experience, but it was the exception. If you like cheap and unhealthy and pretending like its still the Cold War, Johnny Rockets is a blast. The food is tasty like comfort food. We definitely qualify as regulars even if I’ve been remiss in my check-ins.

We were next door at Legoland Discovery, and were disappointed by the lack of options. So we came here to have lunch. The food, shakes, & service were all great!

Wish I could rate the food but after seeing good paying customers wait to be acknowledged for a few minutes to finally get the opportunity to ask if they were still open, they said no. It’s a mall. It was 8:50ish so I asked what time they close and was told 8:30 after much fumbling around– oh let’s see. It’s Tuesday? Yeah– malls are typically very fond of businesses that aren’t open during mall hours. Do they think we r stupid or don’t have Internet access? Grrrr.

We stopped in to have milkshakes after we went to lego land. I’m sure the kids like it okay but the shakes were really not great at all. Took a long time too. I will go somewhere else for shakes.

Ordered some hot dogs at the cashier and sat down at the bar. Soon afterwards I was asked by the waitress if I had ordered to go and that if I had I would have to leave. I sat there confused for some time not knowing if she was serious, but she came around again and said that if I had ordered to go I couldn’t use their seats… If a restaurant is going to have such a stupid policy and isn’t willing to accommodate a paying client, at least mentiom this while I’m paying. I was never asked if my order was to go or not. Needless to say, will never be eating at this place again.

I always judge a burger place by its fries, and let me tell you, Johnny Rockets disappoints… BIGTIME. First, the fries were served a good five minutes before the burgers. What burger place serves the fries at a different time than the burgers? Second, the fries were unseasoned and were your standard grocery-store bought variety. Then, the burgers finally came out. They were certainly good, but nothing special and certainly not worth the price.

This place is terrible! I went here in the middle of the day on a Friday when there was absolutely no one there. I placed a to-go order for a burger and fries. I sat down at the bar to wait for my food. After about 5 – 10 minutes a worker pops up in from of me and says«can you move? These seats are for dine in customers only. You can sit over there.» I look at her stunned and just say«what»? She repeats«please move.» I look at her and ask to speak to the manager. I told the manager how she spoke to me and asked him why I was being asked to move when there was absolutely no one eating there. He said, «we dont allow to-go orders to sit there.» No apology for his staff or the lack of customer service. NONOTHING! I asked for my money back and promptly left. I will NEVER eat there again and I would encourage you not to either.

I LOVE a good old fashioned burger & fry meal, and Johnny Rocket’s definitely delivered! I ordered The Route 66, which is a mushroom and Swiss, double patty burger with mayo & sautéed onions. The onions had that subtle sweetness that you can only get from a caramelized onion, the mushrooms were soft, but not soggy & the cheese was oooey gooey. I couldn’t decide between fries & onion rings, so I went with both. Yes, they have an option for both, it’s called, you guessed it: half and half! The onion rings were not bad, but I love their fries, they’re crispy on the outside, starchy in the middle, and most importantly, they were served PIPING hot! My daughter & I split a butterfingers shake for dessert & while it wasn’t anything special, it was a great ending to a GREAT meal.

It had been yeeeeeeears since I had been to a Johnny Rockets. It was really nice to step around the corner from AMC at Phipps to see this old reliable diner with a row of bar seats just off of the entrance. Since we were waiting for a movie to start, we decided to grab a quick bite to eat before heading in to the theatre. We took the two closest seats to the theatre and the friendly lady came up and greeted us. I love that their staff still wears the old paper hats and still makes the setting feel like an old soda shop. Kind of a «let’s go to the hop» sorta deal. The small jukeboxes on top of the counter are really cool, too. They even give you a nickel so you can play a song! The whole soda jerk setup is nice and really makes it fun to eat. The food isn’t the most amazing stuff on the planet, but it is reliable. Think of what you’d get at Steak N’ Shake and then you’re more than halfway there. It’s all of the oldies but goldies — burgers, patty melts, fries, shakes, club sandwiches, chili, etc. I ordered the chicken club sandwich and it was like biting into the many others I’ve had in my life. Nice and easy. We also ordered some fries and onion rings for our meal. It was so fun when our server brought these out, grabbed a small plate, and made a smily face out of ketchup for us. It was so cute. I remember loving this as a kid! We didn’t end up getting any milkshakes or anything, but I do remember them being amazing. Next time! Still a fan of Johnny Rockets, but it isn’t the type of thing I’m hoping to experience often. It’s a nice treat for sure.

With the 50’s theme and a jukebox that sits on the counter, each song that costs .05…its a cute concept. The menu consists of burgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, and milkshake. We order the bacon cheese fries, the houston for me, and the route for the mister. I’m not sure what type of cheese was on the fries, it looked like they melted shredded cheese but then it tasted like the nacho cheese. It was okay. My burger was okay, I couldn’t quite taste their«spicy sauce,» then again I ordered extra jalapenos. It is a quick meal/snack to get before entering the movie theatre. I rather eat here than pay for the overprice food in the movies.

I wasn’t expecting much for a chain, but was pleasantly surprised. The burger was tasty and the fries were crispy with both being generous in portion. The waitress was friendly and helpful. They’ve done their best with the tiny space, and we managed to get seating for our party of five. If you’re in Phipps at lunchtime, this is a satisfying option and one I’d revisit.

This is one of the better locations, no doubt because it’s in Phipps Plaza and the well-to-do won’t tolerate anything less… It’s a food court type of situation with this JR. The food is really good, just how I remember it when I first had it years ago.

There used to be a number of Johnny Rockets in Atlanta(Cobb Galleria, near Cumberland, off West Paces Ferry Road) and this one in Phipps(which was closed for a while during the Legoland construction.) Thankfully this one has stayed open. I have known a few of the people from the West Paces Ferry location, who moved over here. I am glad that JR kept them, because this is one of the friendliest restaurants around at any price point. Whether it is the silly little dance they do sometimes or just how they give you a nickel for the juke box. The real reason to come here of course is for the burgers. They use Tilamook cheese, which is perfect. I usually get the turkey burger patty, which you can put in any of the places where the burgers normally come as beef. That opens up a lot of the menu if you’re trying to pretend you’re healthy. They fries are good(and they always draw a smile with the ketchup in your dish), but the best thing is that you can add cherry or vanilla to any of the sodas. That gives this play a homey yesteryear kind of appeal.

A quick and easy meal before or after a flick is a cinch when you swing by Johnny Rockets at Phipps Plaza. Right next door to the theatre and with a decent amount of seating(both tables and counter), they do a pretty good job of getting you in and out. Usually, I would opt for a burger, but wanting something a little bit lighter, I thought I would get the chicken club sandwich. I didn’t realize it included 3 slices of bread. It was still delicious, but on the second half of the sandwich, I removed the chicken and third slice of bread and had a great BLT. I also chose the sweet potato fries instead of traditional fries or onion rings. Interestingly, they weren’t salty, nor did they seem to have any kind of seasoning on them. Plain, but yummy. My one splurge was a true, honest to goodness, Vanilla Coke. This isn’t from the can, this is a fountain Coke with Vanilla syrup added by the soda jerks. YUM. And I rarely drink sodas at all. It was worth every sip(and frankly, every single burp later on). We were done eating and paid in plenty of time to make it to our fancy and comfy reserved seats to catch the sneak previews. Job well done, JR!
