Kevy Kakes Speciality Cupcakes

Let me start off by saying: I blame Keshia!
My co-​worker hit me up asking if I’d heard of this place. It’s new– only a few months old– and in the spot where the locksmith used to be. I had not heard of it, but co-​worker pointed me to a Groupon deal they were offering and asked me to at least drop by and grab a cupcake for her since its close to my house. After what I would have paid for just 2 cupcakes, I decided the Groupon was the better deal (6 for $ 8) and got that instead.
They looked really good! I was excited to take my half dozen cupcakes into work to share, in addition to supporting a local business and balling on a budget! I felt like nothing could stop me lol.
So tell me how you forget to put the sugar in the cupcake batter? These are the worst vanilla cupcakes I’ve ever suffered through. The goods are pretty to look at but that’s where it ends. Aside from the lack of sugar there is entirely too much baking powder in the mix, so the cupcakes had an aftertaste.
Knowing that the vanilla fiasco had to be a fluke, I tried the strawberry shortcake flavor. The icing was decent and they remembered the key ingredient for this batch, but again… too much baking powder. I don’t even want to try the red velvet ones. I’m just glad I got the Groupon instead of paying full price. I’m really upset, and I will definitely have to contact the owner because this has to be one giant mistake.
What’s more, I found out just how humiliating it is to bring horrible «goodies» when you’re trying to be nice. My coworkers probably think I secretly hate them now. Lesson learned: don’t bring anything I haven’t tried before.

I contacted who I presume to be the owner via their Facebook page. The conversation went as follows:
Me: Hello. I purchased some cupcakes today and was horribly disappointed in the vanilla ones. It tastes like the sugar was left out of the batter, and there was way too much baking soda or powder. How are we going to remedy this? Thank you.

Me: Yesterday afternoon
And that’s where it ended. No followup or anything. So, I had Groupon refund my money and they did so promptly.
