I dined here with my husband on a gift card we received for our recent nuptials(yay!). That bit of info will be handy at the end ;) We both loved the food, atmosphere, and service, and would definitely recommend checking this place out if you love pasta and steaks(they have other things of course but this is the type of restaurant they are). Here is what we ordered: ANTIPASTA *Formaggi Misti — Your standard meat plate — was a lot of meats for just two people but all were good. The ‘pickles’ are actually pickled vegetables. *Arctic Char Crudo — This was pretty good but not amazing in my book. They did let us know they were out of the roe before they brought it out which we were fine with, but that may have added something more to the dish. PASTA *Tonnarelli — This was DELICIOUS. It might be easy to overlook among the other pasta options, as it’s a very simple dish, but I recommend trying this if you want a traditional pasta with a cheese and butter flavor. *Tagliatelle Nero — I personally was not a fan of this, BUT it had a very unique flavor that might appeal to some. The pasta is a squid ink pasta, so if that’s something that sounds good to you then I would try this. TERRA E MARE(land and sea) *Shell Steak — This steak was amazing! Juicy, cooked perfect, great flavor. With the other dishes ordered this was easily shared across two people(8 oz.). CONTORNI(sides) *Baby Carrots — These complimented the steak very nicely and had some type of sweet glaze that gave them a slightly sweet taste — yum! DOLCI *Chocolate Carmelia Truffle Torte — This was ok, but not great. I would recommend trying a different dessert, or maybe one of their dessert wines or coffees. At the end of the meal, for some reason our gift card balance rang up $ 0(when we were told there was $ 250 on it). They didn’t even consider not taking the card, and took a long time trying to figure out what happened. They even gave us champagne while we waited for them to sort it out. They ended up contacting us the next day to explain the issue, and are mailing us a card with the remaining balance. Overall it showed how great their customer service is, and the value they place on that.

I never write reviews but this time I had to. Last night was my wife’s 40th birthday, I decided to take her to KR Steakbar. We’ve wanted to go there since moving to Atlanta. But our son’s autism does not allow us to go out often. On our arrival we were astounded by the beauty of the restaurant. But then we were seated at a booth in the bar area. As a bartender, being served by a distracted bartender was not what I wanted for our special night. He was aloof and distracted, even though there were only 4 people at the bar. He seemed a little bothered by our arrival. We got some champagne, then our wine list was removed as if we wouldn’t drink anymore. We ordered the Chef’s choice and pork belly. He said, that’s a lot of food. I found that to be very condescending, as if I’ve never had a tasting before. My wife asked what white wine would pair best with the tasting. His Disbelief and lack of wine knowledge was visible on his face. He brought wine that did not go well. The food was o.k. nothing to write home about. My son’s spaghetti was dry, he didn’t eat it. Overall I was beyond disappointed, for a $ 200 meal I expected more. Needless to say, we won’t be back.

Just had a DELICIOUS meal at KR Steakbar! It is only a 5 minute drive from where I live, so my boyfriend and I have been talking about trying it out for months and finally got around to it. And thank goodness we did, because it is a new go-to! The chef here is doing everything right. We started with the burrata and octopus appetizer and I think I’ll be craving that burrata for at least the next week. The steak they have is from somewhere in Chicago(I think?) and our server told us it’s some of the best quality in the country, which tasted pretty accurate to me. Add a glass(or two) of the montepulciano and you can’t go wrong! Our server Nick was super knowledgable and professional, adding to our amazing experience. I highly recommend KR for a lovely dining experience.

Just amazing. My wife and I shared the meatball appetizer(made from filet mignon!), fresh made pasta with clams, and as fine a steak as I have ever had. Flawless service. Go there. You will not be disappointed.

We had a pre-planned meal and asked for the upgrade for the steak. Every course was out of this world. The chicken was a huge surprise and absolutely tasty. We’ve been there twice and we will be back.

Great dinner as always last night. Mask for Nick at the bar. Their cocktails are well balanced and very tasty. The food is great and the atomosphere are very appealing. There is also a cool Speakeasy in the back on the weekends.

Lovely Restaurant Week dinner, with wonderful service. Here’s what I had… all good and delicious: Capaccio-Parmigiano, Micro Greens, Black Pepper Fettuccini-Short Rib, Arugula, Pecorino Tiramisu-Espresso Mascarpone & Cocoa Wear your best and strut down the catwalk… the sidewalk that leads to the front entrance is lined with windows, and is excellent for people watching. I found myself checking out people’s shoes, dresses, etc.

Randomly located in a residential area of Buckhead, I parked on the street across from the restaurant because there was ample parking and daintily walked over in my heels. The night was mild and humidity bearable, so my girlfriends and I opted to sit outside on their beautiful patio shaded by tall magnolias and hanging lanterns. Unfortunately, after sitting outside for about 10 minutes, we realized that we in fact hate the outdoors because of bugs, bugs, bugs. So we asked our poor server if we could move inside, and he and the hosts were very gracious at accommodating our request. Once settled in, the rest of dinner was absolutely lovely. The bone marrow, if you don’t mind that sort of gelatinous meat thing, was rich and flavorful, the octopus had a bit more char than I would have liked, but it was all still very tasty. While their steak and grouper were very good, I’m a bit embarrassed to admit that my favorite dishes of the night were the garganelli spinach pasta and their Brussels sprouts side. The Brussels sprouts were grilled and tossed with jalapenos and lemon chunks. So creative! So good. The pasta was cooked al dente and had a rich(but not too rich) creamy cheese sauce. My only complaint was, why wasn’t this dish bigger? In general, the portion sizes were on the smaller side, which I suppose you should expect at restaurants like KR. But still, I was born in America and am used to my spoiled super size ways! Service was great as to be expected from a KR restaurant. I will say it took 3 hours to complete our meal for 4 but we were not complaining. Leisurely drinking wine and surrounded by good company and food makes one thankful to not worry about time. And our server, Joshua, was so sweet. It was my girlfriend’s birthday and he brought out not one complimentary dessert but two! One was a key lime pie and the other a salty caramel hazelnut sort of sweet. And even though we were stuffed on food and wine, we still managed to scarf down both desserts. Thanks for a great meal, KR!

Table of 15, had a whole room in the back for ourselves. Service was great. Our waiter was amazing and took care of us very well. Food was very fancy. I ordered a half dozen of oysters and a half chicken. They were good! Vibe was good, bring money though, but it’s worth it.

Came here as part of the Atlanta Restaurant Week. We originally planned on going with the 3-course menu as part of the promo. However, after seeing the regular dinner menu and talking with the waitress(who was fantastic, super friendly, and very knowledgeable of the menu), we were convinced to go with the Chef’s Picks. I suggest you do the same. Chef’s Picks is $ 65/guest. It’s a pretty good deal considering how much all the apps and entrees are separately. If you go this route, you get to sample a variety of foods from the restaurant. It’s pretty pricey no doubt, but the way I see it is that we won’t be coming here that often so might as well get the most out of this visit and enjoy the best it has to offer. Chef’s Picks = 3 apps(about a $ 30 value), two entrees(about a $ 40 – 70 value and we were told it would possibly be one steak and one seafood) w/2 sides(about a $ 12 – 14 value) and two desserts. Everything tasted amazing. for $ 10(not per person), you can get the spinalis cut of the beef. ITWASDELICIOUSAND I COMMANDYOUTOGETIT! If you appreciate good steak, DOIT! It’s has the juicy flavor of a ribeye but the tenderness of a filet. You won’t regret but be sure you get there at a decent hour because they have a limited supply. Note the Chef picks out everything(hence Chef’s Picks ha!). Long story short, everything tasted amazing including foods I don’t generally eat, such as scallops and brussel sprouts. The steak was cooked to perfection. Perfectly pink with no blood but still juicy. The brussel sprouts and mushrooms we got were delicious and prepared in a way I’ve never tasted. This place is a game changer. You will get full off the Chef’s Picks, which is another plus in addition to the variety of offerings because if you were to pick individual plates, your credit score would plummet. This is a great place for a date too! A lot of seating but it does get packed. Very modern yet rustic design along with that mood lighting nonsense. You know, so you can’t see what you’re eating. Maybe it’s so your taste buds are heightened? I took a few pictures but not a lot. Didn’t want to be seen as that guy… but oh well.

Loved it! High quality service and food like every one of Kevin Rathbun’s places. This one is in more of a residential area tucked out of the way. Our waiter was great! He knew the menu, joked enough to be fun without being overbearing, and kept the meal moving at just the right pace. We had burratta and bone marrow as appetizers, excellent. Then we moved on to the pappardelle and a steak. The cut was an off the menu spinalis. I had never heard of it but it’s the cap on the ribeye. Our waiter described it as tasty like a ribeye but tender like a filet. He was dead on and it was amazing. The pasta was perfect. Finished up with zeppole. Another winner. We will be back. You should too.

I frequently use KR as a place to entertain clients and guests when visiting out of town. I was HIGHLY disappointed in the unprofessional behavior delivered by the bartenders as we arrived 45 mins prior to closing time. To be treated as an inconvenience after asking for 1 cocktail at the bar was unacceptable. He walked away in mid-sentence throwing his hands in the air like a juvenile, roll his eyes, then proceeded to call the other bartender b/c he did know how to make a specific drink? I will never recommend KR again.

Love all of the Rathbus establishments. This one is new-ish so I hadn’t been to it. They have a wonderful back room through the kitchen and we had an event for work there. The back room has a bar area and a room. The staff here were amazing and attentive, the food was spot on(massive prix fix menu with 5 courses at least). They gave us a great selection of varies wines for all tastes. This place is great for your private party!

I’ve never written a Unilocal review, but my dinner at KR last night was one of those meals that makes you want to tell everyone about it. We had drinks at the bar, followed by a delicious three course meal. We started with the burrata, fried artichokes, and the tuna. I love burrata and this is definitely one of my favorites I’ve ever had. Next we had two pastas– the garganelli with a fresh pesto. So light and perfect for summer, I could have licked the plate. The other was the maltagliati with braised short rib. Short rib isn’t my favorite but the flavored were still great. We got a few different entrees, but the highlight had to be the hanger steak with acorn squash purée and carrots. Oh my gosh, it was perfection. The steak was perfectly cooked and the combination of acorn squash and carrots was delicious. Can’t say enough good things about this meal. Oh and our server Tiffany was great!

I’ve only visited KR for a private rehearsal dinner in the back room, but overall I enjoyed it. First off, if you’re planning a private group event, this is definitely a spot you want to check out. The back room is perfect for a party of up to about 50. Private bar. Private bathrooms. Plenty of space to hang out. Despite it being a private event, I thought the bartenders were pretty attentive and generous with the drinks. As for the food, I didn’t think it was the most amazing Italian I’ve ever had, but I would probably come back. Service was friendly and they paced the meal out really nicely as to not rush us out of the restaurant. I think we even went over on time a little bit, but they didn’t seem to mind.

I have never been so ecstatic to update a review — yippee! 2 years later, I’m happy to change my 2 star rating to a 5 star — heyooo! We decided to come for Buckhead Restaurant Week, as KR Steakbar was offering an awesome $ 25 menu. Several friends had patroned KR Steakbar and proclaimed it much improved, and I figured enough time has passed — may as well give it another shot. I made reservations online for a Wednesday night at 7:00pm. I noted it was my friend’s birthday and that we would love to sit outside, as I had heard the outdoor patio was lovely. I got a phone call reminder the day before and voila, they noted all the requests I had made. Great sign. We walked into the restaurant right on time. Our table wasn’t ready so we sat at the bar(which had seats this time!) and ordered a round of cocktails. I was a little nervous that we were going to have a similar experience as last time, but hooray! About 10 minutes later, our table was ready and we were seated outside along the fence under the trees. Perfect. It truly was a perfect spring day — not too hot, not humid, just right for sitting outside. Our waiter Mikale was fantastic. Such a gentleman, super pleasant — he’s everything that a great waiter should be. He immediately noticed that we had brought two wines with us(note: you can BYOB up to 2 bottles; $ 20 corkage for each bottle) and went to get decanters for us. A+ service! He brought them out, noticed some debris in both decanters, and went back to get two clean ones(plus a filter for our big cab sav). The cork broke on one of our bottles, but he was a star and successfully extracted the remaining half. And then Mikale made my heart sing: upon asking if they had morels, I was told not only did they have morels, I could have them however I wanted. HOWEVER I WANTED. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat??? This is truly my idea of heaven: perfect outdoor setting, great wine, jazz, amazing service, wonderful company, and all the morels I could ever want. Some fresh delicious bread and wonderful olive oil were brought out and we chomped on that while perusing the menu, as everything sounded great and the idea of adding morels to allllll the things really made it difficult to choose. To buy more time, we ordered the formaggi misti and some coppa, which went really well with our wine. I really enjoyed the cheeses, especially with the honey and marcona almonds. I could easily come here just for salumi and cheese with a wonderful glass of wine and to enjoy that outdoor patio. Based on Mikale’s recommendations, we decided to split an order on the tonarelli(add morels) and the maltigliata. Both pastas were on point, cooked perfectly al dente, and OMG the morels in that pepper sauce. Light, delicious, heavenly. I would highly recommend ordering both again. Hubby and I also decided to split the steak, quickly settling on the shell steak plus an order of the spinach. Although our steak was a little more done than requested, the coffee rub was really delicious. I immediately proclaimed that the seasoning tasted like what hubby makes at home. Delicious as can be. The spinach was out-of-this-world amazing. The chili oil really brought out the spinach and I loved the spicy taste against the coffee steak. And did I mention we added MORELSTOOURSTEAK? Because we did, and they were cooked in buttery deliciousness and made our meal. We ordered dessert, something I rarely do, and it was an easy pick for me: brulee lemon tart. This may be my new favorite dessert in the ATL. Its got all the wonderful qualities of a tart lemon bar(omg, that crust…) with the crunchy goodness of crème brulee. Very light, delicious, and splittable, as a few bites are very satisfying, especially when paired with a glass of prosecco. Our friends got a chocolate dish — it seemed like coffee ice cream with donuts — I have no idea what it was called, but also very very delicious. While having dessert, Kevin himself came and greeted our table and chatted with us for some time. I felt very welcomed by him in his restaurant. In two years, so much has changed at KR Steakbar. A perfect patio has been added, with bushes that shield the street/sidewalk from patrons, while large trees shade guests with super cool lighting that comes out at night(I thought they were bird feeders in the daylight, but nope — awesome lights!). The atonal music has blessedly been replaced with Sinatra and Ella, the busy menu has shifted to more pastas and steaks(I’m a font person, and I really like the design of this menu vs. the old), the staff are on their A game, and the food on point(and portions much bigger). Everything about KR Steakbar is what I love in a great restaurant and I am happy to say that I LOVE it. And for this, I will definitely be back.

KR Steakbar was a wonderful place to go to celebrate a special occasion. Though I loathe going to Buckhead, this isn’t *really* Buckhead, as it’s actually tucked away in a more residential section of Peachtree Hills. Valet is free, but not really needed, as there’s not much else happening in this little shopping strip(at least on a weeknight). However, once you enter the restaurant, you forget you’re in a residential area, because the interior is super swanky, romantic, and modern/trendy. Though this might be Buckhead, you can definitely see Kevin Rathbun’s Inman Park roots come through. You’ll want to dress to impress for sure. This would be a great date spot, a fact that many people at the bar seemed to be embracing. We started with the artichokes with dill and pangrattato($ 10) and the much raved over grilled octopus with potato, charred onion, and orange segments($ 11), and because we had a friend working the bar, were gifted an order of the arancini(normally $ 6). The artichokes and octopus were out of this world. Both were marinated first, before being finished in the deep fryer or the wood-fired grill respectively, and were packed with flavor in a thoughtful and exciting way. I would say that one appetizer is barely enough for two people, so you may want one per person and then share. For entrees, my date gave me a major case of order envy. That’s not to say that my scallops were bad(they were amazing), but his 8oz shell steak, rubbed with espresso and horseradish and wood-fire grilled, was possibly the best steak I’ve ever tasted. Though he ordered it medium and I’m more of a medium rare girl, I think their medium was more on the rare side, so it worked out in my favor. This was a beautiful piece of meat. Our sides were the potatoes with rosemary and garlic($ 6), which were super crispy with just a hint of spices, and brussels sprouts with preserved lemon and calabrese($ 7). I love brussels sprouts by any preparation, and these were some of my favorite(but not quite displacing Local Three which has the best brussels in the city). My date doesn’t drink, so we stuck with sparkling water, which was kept refilled with fresh glasses through the evening. We concluded a wonderful meal with a shared chocolate budino($ 6), which was a rich but fluffy chocolate mousse topped with candied orange peel and roasted hazelnut. One of my favorite things about Kevin Rathbun’s restaurants is the attention he puts on dessert, and this was no exception. While it didn’t quite knock Rathbun’s out of the spot of my favorite of this restaurant group, KR Steakbar came pretty close. I’m glad to have a good reason to come back to Buckhead!

Honestly, if you aren’t giving this place a 5 star, you must be kind of stupid. Straight up. I live next door, and have been dying inside driving by the patio waiting for the time I would have a group of people to go with. Saturday night, my dreams came true. A group of 4 of us braved the windy weather, and made it to this newest edition of Kevin Rathburn’s restaurants. We ordered the Chef’s selection. It was $ 55/per person, not including drinks. The entire table had to order it, and it was a sharing experience. Let me tell you, we arrived at 8:30, and were completely stuffed when we left at 11:30. We had a togo box! There were 4 of us! Starting out, the place is completely cool. Subway tile, urban finishes. You could be in a warehouse, or you could be at your boss’s house… I don’t know. It is definitely impressive. We had an end booth, and it was by a drafty door. Those silly people that thought it wasn’t really 32 degrees outside! It only happened once, and they know no space heater was going to work. Some people are just time-wasters. There were 4 – 5 courses, and each had multiple plates brought out. Out of probably trying 15 things, I liked everything except the meatballs. I don’t like meatballs, maybe I am crazy. You tell me. Meat and Cheese plate, jalapeño Pasta for days, alfredo pasta, Brussels sprouts, scallops, and STEAK was TODIEFOR! My Brazilian friend said it was one of the best steaks he has ever had. We cleaned our palette with sorbet before entrees. If you didn’t know, this place is fancy. We had 2 bottles of red wine… and at $ 100 a head including tip, I am ready to go there again. Really, like tonight after I am done writing this review. My only complaint is 2 desserts to share. Pudding should be at least 4x. I can still taste that pudding! Not fair! Everyone should have their own pudding. Longest review ever. Best place in Atlanta in my book right now.

this place is awesome!!! We’ve heard such good things from friends so we were super excited to try it out ourselves. If we could give it more than 5 stars, we would! We ordered THEBEST bottle of cab: Siva Sonoma. Highly recommend! It was crisp and cool, definitely a mood setter. The complimentary bread was amazing. I want to say it was somehow infused with olive oil and sea salt. So delicious! Our table decided to go the«chef’s selection». I highly recommend this! It’s all of the chefs favorite and most popular dishes, for a great price of $ 55 per person! We had a 6 course meal with the deal. Chef brought out a delicious selection of meats, 3 appetizers: risotto fried marinara balls, braised pork belly, and the INFAMOUS meatballs! Ya’ll, I’m not kidding. These meatballs are amazing. Must try! Chef continued with two selections of handmade pasta dishes, then a nice offering of lemon sorbet to cleanse the pallet. A nice touch! We were SO full at this point but the food was so good we couldn’t stop! Next came the entrees: shell steak, fried egg pork, fingerling potatoes, brussel sprouts, and mushrooms. SOGOOD. like, food coma, y’all. Lastly, dessert. We got a pair of a lemon bar and DELICIOUS fried pumpkin fritters. those pumpkin fritters knock the pants off any pumpkin spice latte!!! Overall, our experience was beyond exceptional. Ed, our waiter(highly recommend) was delightful and made sure we had a great time. This must be on your list of places to eat in ATL! It won’t let you down, I promise!

Another great one of Rathbun’s restaurants! I was slightly hesitant to try out KR SteakBar due to the negative reviews. However, we had a wonderful dinner here over the weekend and cannot wait to return. With the name KR SteakBar, it kinda surprised me that it’s an Italian restaurant(before looking at the menu of course). Nonetheless, the food was amazing(all but one item). Service was top notch; our server’s so knowledgeable with both the food & wine menus. We decided not to get any steak here because we always go to Kevin Rathbun’s steak for that. ~ chef’s choice cured meat plate — generous portion; everything was very good especially the prosciutto ~ octopus — so tender & delicious ~ carpaccio — the meat was good but overall this didn’t have enough flavor for me… it was pretty bland ~ pappardelle in pork & beef ragu — apparently one of their most popular items; it was perfectly seasoned & had just the right amount of sauce; pasta made in house ~ olive oil cake w/whipped ricotta & strawberry sorbet — amazing! the cake’s so moist and everything just goes so well together ~ milk chocolate semi-freddo — so rich & delicious! I would’ve preferred dark chocolate but this wasn’t extremely sweet as I expected Valet or street parking. Gorgeous outside patio’s available but it was pretty chilly when we went so we sat inside. Open kitchen. Full bar is located kind of in the middle of the restaurant.
