A full five stars for the absolutely perfect sugar cream pie alone. My only regret is that I did not buy both of them that had just come out of the oven when we arrived! The shop doesn’t take cards, and you should call ahead to check for hours since they apparently are closed for several weeks after Christmas.

Pies, pies, glorious pies!!! From sweet to savory, in a pan and even in a can, Lisa’s has the pie for you! Lisa’s has a wide selection of pies from your traditional apple, to the Indiana state pie, the glorious sugar cream, to a wide variety of cream pies. They also carry breakfast quiches and chicken pot pies you can take home and bake. Locally, they are known for their ‘pie in a jar’. It’s perfect for traveling or shipping some Hoosier Hospitality to loved ones out of state. Cash or check only. They have a small seating area inside if you just want to grab a quick slice and a cup of joe. Be sure to call ahead to double check hours. They close for a few weeks after the Christmas holiday too. Also be sure to order ahead around the holidays if you want to ensure you have a homemade pie to pawn off as your own to make Grandma Jo think you’re even more perfect than she already thinks you are!

A random pit stop here got family vacation off to a fantastic start. They don’t serve by the slice, but their smallest pie is plenty for 2 – 3 people to share. The décor is adorable, and the pie is delicious, especially the crust — all of those fair ribbons are on display for a reason! Plenty of flavors to choose from(we had the cherry), and they also sold cookies and bread.

So my spouse and I have passed Lisa’s Pie Shop countless times commuting in between Indianapolis and northern Indiana as this little shop is right of 31 north. My spouse kept hearing about the«pie in a jar» so a couple days ago we finally stopped in. The store front is small but they have a pretty good selection of fresh pies, frozen pies, and yes, «pies in a jar». We picked the peach pie in a jar and it was very good– a combination of peaches, pie filling and soft crust/dough in a jelly jar(they have both smaller and larger sizes). I’d recommend them if you need something to quick to take to a dinner with the fam or friends and you’re on 31 just north of Indy.

This is really a carry-out place, so I won’t say much about the décor other than it’s sparse. Your really come here for the pies(duh…look at the name of the place). Lisa has won numerous awards for our pies(they are on display) and with good reason. They are not only delicious, but they are very reasonably prices as well. A full-size pie is about $ 8 and she also says miniature versions(about two-thirds the size) for about $ 6. There are also some ready-to-bake frozen pies in the freezer if you want to deceive your friends with your newfound baking prowess. I will make it a point to stop by Lisa’s Pie Shop every time I’m returning from Kokomo. Note: This is a cash-only establishment so be prepared.

After passing Lisa’s Pie Shop on a trip up to Amish country and seeing it closed, we made a point to make a Saturday of it, and visit tiny Atlanta, IN in search of delicious pies. Its a neat little place, in a converted gas station. Lisa has a nice story on her web page as well. We pull up to the gravel lot and see her fresh garden growing right outside. Local tomatoes are for sale on the honor code on tables outside the shop, and a sign that says now serving lunch posted on the door. Inside is a small haven of fantastic looking pies and other assorted desserts, including the famed pie in a jar. We chose a cinnamon bun, and picked out a berrylicious pie with an iced lattice topping. For my parents, I took home a fantastic looking dutch applie pie. The berry pie was full of various fruits and lots of crusty flavors. I found I had accidentally eaten half the pie in less than 24 hours… by myself. It wasnt too sweet, and not too stuffed, and had just the right amount of gooey filling. I thoroughly enjoyed this pie. The dutch applie pie was packed with apples and whatever makes it dutch… and was quite flavorful. The topping might have had a bit too much brown sugar for my preference, but that wasnt a problem. Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and you have a real treat. Our cinnamon bun was nice and chewy, but again, I think it had too much icing on top for what was necessary. We did demolish this bun before we even left the parking lot, so I really cant complain. All in all, I enjoyed Lisa’s pies. Would I make the drive up every weekend for dessert? Probably not. Would I go regularly though and bring home a pie for the week? Absolutely! Try it out, you wont be disappointed. My wife just today said she wants to try the peanut butter pie, so it sounds like we’ll be heading up north again soon!

I’m not at all happy. I purchased a butterscotch pie last Wednesday-it may as well have been named a «meringue pie», because that’s basically all it was, with a minimal amount of filling. I also bought a small cherry pie-where was the FILLING? Judging by the appearance of the rounded top of the pie, you’d think it would be crammed full of cherries, like the store-bought Marie Callander’s pies-guess again. More than half of what was supposed to be in this pie was empty air! I was sooo disappointed-what a cheap way to shaft the customer & make a bigger profit! I will wait until Wilson’s is open for the season, and never again will I set foot into Lisa’s. Good smells & smiles may be very nice, but when its a cover for cheating the customer, well, that ISN’T so nice, is it? I sure didn’t get MY money’s worth on this purchase!

Great pies! Just had her dutch apple and loved every bite of it! Will probably try more when I get back to the farmer’s market to pick one up. Though I did think they were a bit pricey when I am a baker of pies on occasion, myself… but on this day as others I enjoyed the connivence of an already made delicious homemade pie!

The selection of pies is fantastic. I could tell by the heavenly sweet smell and the genuine smiles on the friendly staff that I was at the right place. I got a Hershey’s chocolate almond pie and a lemon meringue pie. Both pies were to die for — definitely fresh. I can’t wait to come back and try something else.
