We’ve been here three times now and it’s awesome every time. Great Lebanese food and a great value – especially for lunch. Chicken, beef, and lamb – all very fresh. Great selection of sides. Garlic spread and tzatziki are out of this world. Definitely a place you have to be told about or be adventurous to try, but I promise you it’s worth it. It’s the kind of place you’d have to hunt for in a major metro. A lot of food for under $ 10 – best bang for your buck at lunch.

Off the chain! Fresh Greek salad loaded with cukes tomato onions olives fetta along with crispy lettuce and a wonderful dressing. One of the best in Atlanta. The sandwich stuffed with slow roasted chicken and house sauce rolled in traditional flat bread makes this place new on my list if favorites. A friend if mine insisted we go as he had been prior and wanted to return. Cool mix of people from young to older mixed cultures and all professions.

About Mediterranean Bakery & Sandwich(from their website): «The Mediterranean Bakery is an authentic Lebanese restaurant /store located in Atlanta, Georgia serving Middle Eastern cuisine — with a focus on a traditional Lebanese experience. We have wide range of menu items. Our store also carries products that can help you in preparing your own Mediterranean meals. We value our customers by offering a fast and friendly service. Hospitality is everything to us. Our special coffee is ready for your morning visits, or anytime you need a coffee break. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our location is easy to access and is incredibly convenient. The atmosphere is casual and family-friendly. Your experience at the Mediterranean Bakery will make you came back for more.» The bakery/store includes items such as: olives, pita bread, specialty imported products, desserts, tobacco, fresh bread, specialty imported products like hummus and baba ghanouj, pickles, spices, frozen items, seasonal vegetables, and more. I never did purchase anything from the store, so I cannot comment on this aspect. I used to work in this area, so I have visited multiple times with friends. I’ve kept simple alternating between beef or chicken shawarma sandwiches or plates. The food is decent, but have had better in Atlanta. The fries are plentiful. Food is cooked up quickly. Order at the counter and then wait at your table for your order to be ready. Not alot of seating, but I have never seen that present a problem. Pricing is reasonable and they have a rewards punch card. Parking is a breeze in this huge shopping center lot.

What a find! This place is fantastic. Really great quality food at an affordable price. They make THEBEST homemade hummus. The spinach pies and cheese pies are also delicious. Very authentic.

This place has made me an addict. Their garlic spread is to die for. Soooooo good. We buy it regularly to use in many different ways in the kitchen. It’s a great base for salad dressings, makes amazing garlic bread, dip for veggies and chips, or — lets be honest– eat it by the spoonful. Besides their addictive garlic spread, their tzatziki, hummus, and baba ghanouj are some of the best I’ve ever had. As many have said, the beef shawarma is delicious. I especially love their greek salad with the beef shawarma on top. The lamb halabi is also a wonderful meat option. This is one of those unassuming places that doesn’t look like much from the outside, but you’ll be super happy with yourself for stopping in and giving it a try. It is truly a hidden gem.

Great food, prices, clean place. I had a lot of sides including hummus, falafel, kibbi, and spinach pie. All were winners, and reasonable portions, except the kibbi. Clearly hand made, but very expensive compared to other menu items. Well worth a second visit. 4pc side order of falafel with bread and tahini was $ 2.40. Ask for the same ingredients as a sandwich, $ 6…

I am picky about my falafel sandwiches. I’ve tried many places in the Atlanta area over the years, and this is my absolute favorite. The tahini sauce has just the right amount of zing, the pita is nice and thin(not a fan of fluffy/spongy pita), and the veggies are crisp and flavorful. If you are looking for a romantic date night, this is not the place, but if you want to grab some lunch and/or imported groceries(including German chocolates and sweets! mmm) at a reasonable price, you can’t beat Mediterranean Bakery & Sandwich. Their hummus is yummy too.

Decent, consistent, and generally tasty. Hummus is good, but their bread tends to be tougher than I prefer. All dishes are worth a try, but I would start with beef shawarma.

This was a online find, the food was average, I would have liked more flavor on the kebab I had I kept using their sauce so I had a bit more flavor. The location was nice and had a little supermarket with items you cast necessary find around town. Service was good

Oh, Baba Ghanouj how I love thee. I ordered a beef shwarma sandwich and a side of baba ganouj. The baba ganouj is probably the best I’ve ever had. It’s smokey, rich, and tangy. You can taste that they have definitely taken the time to roast the eggplant properly. The beef shwarma was also very good. The meat was juicy, well seasoned and beefy. It was wrapped up in flatbread with lettuce, tomato, some pickles and a garlicky sauce. There were a few chewy pieces of meat. So, a couple times it was tough to bite through the sandwich. If I’d gotten the plate instead of a sandwich I might not have noticed. The service was fine. Basic counter service system; you order, you get a number, they call out the numbers when your order is ready. Not super friendly, but they were pretty efficient. Prices are ok. They seem a little high for the quantity of food you get. But the quality is there to justify it. I feel like the plate is probably a better deal than the sandwich. I have to agree with all of the other Unilocalers who called this place a «gem». I didn’t expect to find Lebanese food this good in the old shopping center with the Big Lots.

This is a neighborhood gem that has clearly become well known thanks to word of mouth. The shopping center — unremarkable. The location — subtle. But when you walk into this place, it is bustling with people, food, and good energy. It is a counter service style eatery inside a small Mediterranean grocery store. They have a decent sized menu for being a quick service place. All the food is clearly made to order(for example, the falafel fried to order, the shawarma sliced off the grill to order, etc) so it’s fresh and hot. They offer authentic middle eastern dishes, not the watered down Americanized versions. They have my favorite garlic«sauce» which is pure raw garlic whipped with olive oil to make a thick sauce. I got the chicken shawarma plate, so you get to pick two sides, and there were at least 10 sides to choose from, and they give you a good amount of meat AND rice AND pickled vegetables. I got hummus and the Greek salad, and I loved them both. Overall, this is not a flashy restaurant, but it is authentic, good quality, tasty, and well-priced. I will be back again when I’m in Atlanta.

This place is definitely one of my favorite Mediterranean places in Atlanta! It’s kind of hidden in the area that I don’t usually go to find good eats, but this place is definitely worth the drive, plus it is very close to my campus so I come here during quick lunch break. Growing up in the Middle East, my main dish have always consisted of hummus, falafel, shawarma and pita breads, despite my Asian ethnicity. The authenticity of each ingredient in this restaurant is something that brings me back to my childhood. I also love the grocery store within the restaurant that has dozens of different kinds of candies and chocolates I ate growing up, plus many more snacks that you would’ve never seen unless you lived in the Middle East. During the first time visit I tried the falafel sandwich and I loved it. This place’s pita is a little thinner than other places’, which allows you to taste what’s inside the sandwich more. The price was reasonable and was prepared quickly. The second time i visited, I got the falafel plate, which comes with two sides. Falafel sandwich is enough to satisfy my hunger but I would recommend getting the plate for obvious reasons. The place is well kept and clean, and the staffs are very friendly. If you are ever in the Chamblee area, you must come try this place!

I am a regular here – and love this resto. It has changed ownership many times and most recently, I didn’t like that the chicken kabobs were just cooked and soaking in water. They just informed me they’ve changed their practice and if I am willing to wait, they will grill the kabobs on the spot. YEah! Otherwise great baba ghanoush, hummus.

I came once years ago but wasn’t a Unilocaler then. Today I was craving Mediterranean for lunch so I came around 12. It was already busy for lunch hour. I ordered lamb kabob plate for $ 10.99. When you order plate you can pick any two sides with it. I got Greek salad and baba ghanouj(baked eggplant). The food came in ten minutes. The lamb was juicy and cooked perfectly. Baba ghanouj was so delicious. It is eggplants, garlic, tatini(spelling?), and lemon juice. The salad, rice and nan bread were good as well. Use the nan bread to eat the baba ghanouj and lamb. It was a filling lunch. I left with a happy stomach! By the way the meat is halal. I verified with the cashier.

O.K. So once again I was looking for place A only to find out they don’t serve lunch. So this was next door and off we went. This place is very good. The entire place was extremely clean. You place your order at the register and they call your number. But rest assured, the wait won’t be long. Myself and two coworkers ate in for lunch and enjoyed a relaxing, tasty meal. The hummus was my favorite and I may be back just to purchase that. Better than the grocery store stuff. I’ll definitely be back.

It’s been a while since my initial post so I decided to both blog about this place with a longer Unilocal review AND provide some details. Mediterranean Bakery and Sandwich is a small Lebanese grocery store that can be found in the tired Embry Hills shopping center. If you’ve been around as long as me you’ll remember when there was a Kroger at this location — much of the architecture for the Kroger-as-anchor-store is still there and recognizable, only the main building is now a Big Lots. I’m a bit hesitant to review this place because I don’t want it to become so busy it’s impossible to visit. I’ve been piling on the praise of this small grocery store for many years — this whole shopping complex has an unusual number of very good ethnic restaurants and it all started with Mediterranean Bakery. Since I live about a mile from this place I’ve had plenty of opportunity to sample them all. This review is all about the lunch counter. Here you’ll find Lebanese style Mediterranean food like swarma, felafel and the like. You line up and order at the counter — they take credit cards — and you’re food is prepared like magic within a few minutes. There’s a limited number of tables inside but there’s also tables under the covered awning for overflow. My favorites on the menu: Chicken Shawarma — this is the real deal here folks. The pieces come on a bed of rice with a few Lebanese pickles(these can be a bit harsh but lately they’ve been supplying some that are more palatable to Americans). I like to get this as a platter with two sides — the baba ghanouj and the Greek salad. What makes the chicken shawarma special is the garlic spread — it’s simply delicious. Beef Shawarma — many of my friends like this better than the chicken — it’s really dripping-down-your-arm juicy as a wrap, but then again you don’t get the garlic spread… Shish Kabob –juicy bits of beef — what more can you ask for? Chicken Kabob — another favorite of most of my friends(sorry but I get stuck on the chicken shawarma) — Lamb Kabob — the lamb here is delicious as is to be expected. Felafel — very good felafels here with good flavor. I’ve found better but these always work for me and you can get a couple as one of your sides. Baba Ghanouj — delightfully smoky and smooth — perhaps the best version of eggplant I’ve ever experienced. The Hummos here is silky smooth and flavorful, the Fatoush and Greek salads fresh and the tabouli very freshly made — you can’t go wrong with any of these. In any case, give this place a try — you’ll be glad you did. (longer review available in my food blog)

I know that we’re taught in Kindergarten to share and to be kind to others. Well, sometimes sharing means not caring for yourself. Don’t tell my mom I said that. I was feeling under the weather and they say ‘be good to yourself first and then you can help others’. That’s why I headed out solo in search of something comforting and succulent. Once I met baba ghanoush, I knew I made the right decision. The grilled eggplant mixed with lemon juice, garlic and tahini was rich, creamy, and smoky. Scoop up the aubergine goodness with warm pita bread or crunchy vegetables. I pulled up to MB&S an hour before closing on a Saturday evening and had the place to myself. A nice guy behind the counter made it easy on me. No need to choose, he would prepare a mix of chicken and beef for the schwarma platter. Add tabbouleh on the side and two sauces including a slap ya vampire garlic spread. My takeout container was filled to capacity. Tender and flavorful beef over rice, next to fresh tomato slices and crisp sweet pickles. The chicken was moist but under seasoned, easily remedied by drizzling tahini sauce over top. The tabbouleh salad added a layer of flavor and contrast in temperature to the overall meal. I’m neutral to parsley, but in this dish, the herb is the star and shines when tossed with mint, onion, olive oil, and fresh lemon juice. Lovely Lebanese fare. Happy to find you, even if it took me 12 years.

This place is excellent. When I went, I was the only non-middle eastern person in there, and I took that as a really good sign. The interior is very casual — half is a mediterranean grocery store, complete with tahini, hookahs, dairy, and mediterranean candy and snacks. I had the lamajoun and chicken shawarma sandwich, both of which were really good and very pungent. Bring some gum for afterward!

CHICKENSHARWARMA is supposedly one of the more authentic Lebanese shawarma places here in ATL. I’m not a big fan of the shawarmas, it’s too filling for me, but my friend loves this sandwich. BEEFSHARWARMA This is much better and a lot juicier than the chicken in my opinion. The flavors are also much better because I like the gyro meats a lot. FALAFEL is very good. Although the interior of the falafel is not green, the taste is there, full of flavor and not dry. GROCERYSTORE I come here to get the white pita bread, manaeesh pita bread, and the Lebanese labne. They also carry the good arguileh/hookah tobacco along with the coconut coals so I get my stash here as well.

Shawarma beef sandwich It’s a legit shawarma sandwich. I ordered the beef and it came out toasted, juicy thanks to the tender meat and tahini sauce, and with a good amount of vegetables inside. Falafel sandwich It came toasted as well with a good of tahini sauce, and a proper amount of ingredients. I recommend you try both sandwiches.
