Today I got a very good custom manual wheelchair from Mobility Designs. This represents the ending of a somewhat long story. Some months ago, on a whim, I found Mobility Designs from a Google search and decided that I wanted a Quickie-brand manual wheelchair for long-term use.(I have mild cerebral palsy, and so normally walk on crutches, but since becoming a teacher I’ve discovered that it’s easier to teach from a wheelchair.) Anyway, I clacked into Mobility Designs and informed the first person who paid attention that«I would like to purchase a Quickie wheelchair today.» Little did I know at that time that long-term wheelchairs are custom-made. Craig worked with me and my husband through the entire six-month-long process, going to bat against multiple insurance companies, doing extra testing to demonstrate the necessity of my chair, and finding the best chair for me. Craig and the staff at Mobility Designs were very patient, knowledgeable, and supportive of my endeavor to acquire a chair for little to no cost to me. There were many fittings and consultations, and today I finally received my chair at no cost to me, since I am double-insured. Craig took me through maintenance and assembly, and adjusted the back and the footrests to my preferences. While the insurance companies make filing a claim for such medical equipment a royal pain in the ass, Craig and Mobility Designs fight for their clients’ best interest every step of the way. Today I was even told to keep in touch regarding how I was doing down the road. If you are in the market for a wheelchair, I would highly recommend Mobility Designs. Peace, love, and happiness, Jodi
