2.5 Stars. I am a fan of the Buckhead Life Group, but I strongly believe this to be their worst restaurant for dinner. While Nava is a «place to be seen,» I do not think the quality of the dishes is up to par with Chops, AFM, or Kyma. The problem lies with the fact that their prices are at the same point as the aforemetioned joints. My recommendation: hit Noche up instead if you’re in the mood for something similar. The bill will be half the price and the quality is the same.

Had dinner and drinks last night and it was a fun time! Let’s start with the drinks… I LOVED the Prickly Pear Margarita. It was so good. Would definitely recommend the drink if you like a fresh and fruity drink. For dinner, my friend and I ordered a variety of tacos and I just felt okay about them. I really enjoyed the taco with the BBQ brisket but the rest of the tacos were a little disappointing and since the restaurant is in Buckhead, the tacos were also a little pricey as well. Overall, Nava has a nice ambiance and would definitely return for a happy hour, just not the best place to stay for dinner. P. S. A huge shoutout goes to our waitress! She was such a nice server and really made sure that we had a pleasant experience. Kudos to great service at the restaurant!

Twas a beautiful sunny day in May and perfect for margaritas on a patio. Laura W. suggested we hit up Nava for happy hour as their Prickly Pear Margaritas are one of her favorites. Also, let me preface this review by saying Nava was my mother’s favorite restaurant back in the early 2000s. I remember her and my dad leaving the suburbs of West Cob on a Saturday night to drive into Buckhead for a date night at Nava. I thought my parents were so posh. When I first got to Atlanta after graduating from college we would come to Nava all the time to mix ‘n mingle. Nava used to be the place to see and be seen. Jennifer Aniston has even dined here. But this particular afternoon, there was no valet in sight so I went on through the«self-parking» lane and thought I was being clever to go ahead and park my own car plus save a buck or two. I walked over to Nava and no one was waiting at the hostess stand when I arrived at 5:30. It’s like nobody cared to greet the happy hour crowd. The food was way over priced. $ 5 for a taco, $ 5 for a side of grits, $ 2.75 for chips and salsa. Nava does offer a happy hour menu with select appetizers and drinks for $ 5. We both opted for the Prickly Pear Margaritas, Chicken Tostadas and Cheese Fritters. the $ 5 Prickly Pear Margarita was watered down, and(y’all I kid you not) $ 5 gets you only three chips topped with chicken and an avocado salsa; or a mere pair of glorified cheese fritters swimming in a sweet chili oil. A buck just doesn’t go a long way at Nava. Next to us at the bar was a woman who at first upon arrival was complaining about too much Botox in her face, then by the time she left was crying because… well, who knows why, I was just ready to get out of Nava! So we’re paying our bill and Laura W. lays down her valet parking ticket to be stamped, then I put down my self-parking pass and the bartender looks me straight in the face without a look of remorse to flatly state«We can’t validate that.» Of course! You’re Nava! Why would you want to validate a measly self parking ticket? That’s so bogus… more lame than charging $ 5 for two goat-cheese hush puppies. At this point in my life, I’d rather go to Tin Lizzy’s, Buckhead Saloon or Tacos & Tequilas. Those places just offer a better happy hour in Buckhead. Why bother with Nava anymore. One star for location, one star for patio… nothing else matters at Nava.

Yesterday was a perfect Monday. I got gorgeous flowers delivered to the office(so fun! yeah, I don’t mind attention…), leased an apt with a really sweet bonus on top of my regular commission(didn’t even know about that part, what a nice surprise!) and had dinner with my favorite guy. He suggested Nava and as it was a beautiful, slightly cool night, I was totally up for dining al fresco. Nava gets to keep four stars from me for their awesome outdoor patio and the lobster taco. That thing is just delicious. The other items we had weren’t quite as good, between two and three stars for sure. The pulled pork quesadilla was just ok — good flavor to the meat but topped with julienned green peppers among other garnishes and I absolutely LOATHE green peppers(three stars because I recognize that I’m particular about what for some would be a no-biggie factor, and because he liked them a smidge better than I did). The tuna tartar was meh — nice enough flavor(definitely a kick with the spicy chipotle sauce) and a good presentation on red corn tortilla chips, but the texture was way too mushy — I prefer my tartar a little«dicier,» if that makes sense(so, two stars). Brian, the bartender, was a nice guy who struggled a little to handle the outside and inside bars(short-staffed situation last night). We were happy chatting and enjoying the lovely night, so no biggie, but definitely not the most attentive service. All in all, I have a soft spot for Nava due to years of having birthday dinners and special occasion dates, as well as lunches and dinners at the bar with friends and boyfriends. .. and if you want a nice patio during this fabulous time of year, it should definitely be at the top of your list! Make sure to get the lobster taco.

I find the prices here to be pretty steep, but I just love this spot for a nice lunch or drinks with the girls. The patio is beautiful! Definitely a see-and-be-seen bar inside. Lunch on their patio… maybe with a margarita… is the way to go! (Valet parking is validated. Don’t forget!)

As a mom of a rambunctious toddler, having a nice dinner out is a very rare occasion. It was my birthday so my husband and me decided to get a babysitter and have a dinner that didn’t involve food-throwing, temper tantrums and eventually taking our food to-go. My husband called the restaurant during the week to make the reservation. I could hear his conversation since he was on speakerphone. «I’d like to make a reservation for 8,» he said. The hostess freaked out a bit and said, «For 8 people??? We only have an 8:30pm tonight for that time.» My husband answered, «No, no, no. For 8pm and for 2 people. We’d like this reservation for Saturday.» The hostess said no problem. We were set. We were going to Nava, and I was very excited. I was going to put on a dress, and actually wear some make up, and bring a purse instead of a diaper bag. This was big time! The excitement didn’t last long when we got to the restaurant on Saturday. It was very crowded as it was Buckhead Restaurant Week. The hostess told us that all their tables were filled, but that we’d be seated within 10 minutes at the most. No problem. It was then that a guy who I’m guessing was an assistant manager of some sorts walked up. He looked at the computer screen with all the reservations and then looked at us. He said, «You know you all have an 8:30 reservation, right?» Wait, what? He continued, «It’s going to be at least 10 minutes.» My husband is the mellow one of the two of us. I looked at him to see if he’d react or say something. Obviously, Nava made a mistake and did not put us in for the correct reservation time. My husband told me that we should try to have a nice evening and not worry about it. It was only going to be 10 minutes, after all. A bunch of people walked in after us. They were all seated before us. I grew more and more angry with each passing minute. I envisioned our babysitter thinking«cha-ching!» when we walked in the door to our house much later than she anticipated. Thirty minutes goes by. A couple walks in who were obviously regulars. They knew this assistant manager guy. «So sorry we’re late,» the woman said to him. The guy says to them, «No problem. We’ve had your table waiting for whenever you arrived.» That was it. I lost my cool. I was like a pull-string doll. I kept yapping at the guy. I didn’t let him get a word in. In hindsight, I obviously could’ve handled the situation better… but Nava could’ve as well. «We’re paying for a babysitter and we have to keep waiting,» I remember saying. The guy pretended to be sympathetic, but I could tell he was not. He didn’t like me and I didn’t like him. He may have genuinely felt bad, and it may have just been his personality in that he came off as a condescending donkey. Not Nava’s fault and there’s nothing he can do about it short of a lobotomy. But his personality only fueled my anger more. He said, «Well, you did have an 8:30 reservation.» My husband explained the story to him once again as to how the mix up may have happened. «So, essentially, Nava’s mistake becomes our problem,» I said. The guy said, «We have to seat all the people who had 8pm reservations.» I retorted, «So did we!» I stormed back over to my seat in the waiting area. I started looking on Open Table on my phone to see if there were any other restaurants open. Nope. Buckhead Restaurant Week was in full effect. Finally, the guy brought us to our table. He kinda threw the menus down, muttered an «enjoy» and then walked away. Friendly fella. Nava did bring us a bunch of free appetizers to make up for the mistake which is why I didn’t ding them as much as I could have in the number of stars I gave them. The food was good. My husband and I did the Buckhead Restaurant Week menu. I ordered the scallops which were cooked well. My husband ordered the steak. A little bit too salty, but overall good. Waiter gaffes were not uncommon that night. I’m guessing it’s because they were completely slammed due to the event. The table next to us complained because their entrees arrived before their salad. The table on the other side of us complained that their orders were not correct. The table behind us complained about the slow service. The food was good. Would I go back? Probably not.

First of all, I am a fan of the southwest, specifically places I have spent a great deal of time in: Taos and Santa Fe, and I appreciate that the interior is done in rough hewn post and beam, Vegas and latillas, with many nichos spread around. The art, décor and lighting are excellent… Parking is a little hidden, as you have to enter from a side street of Peachtree, take a right and find e valet. Once I figured that out, the rest was easy. I booked the table last minute using Open Table, which was smart since it was a Friday night. There was a lot on the menu to try. And we sampled a bunch of stuff. They gave us a complimentary jalapeño corn bread, which was okay. We tried the 3 salsas with chips, both of us favoring the avocado-tomatillo-lime juice salsa. We shared the Hawaiian Ahi Tuna Ceviche, which was a crazy and delicious mix up of watermelon, lime, chiles, shallots, coconut and lime sea foam… I didn’t like e plantain chip, so I ate the ceviche straight up. We realized we were already going to have too much food, so we shared 3 tacos: the smoked chicken taco which was very mild, the alligator taco which was good(beware the sneaky intensely hot killer crema underneath… And the beef brisket which was delicious. We didn’t come close to finishing it all, but it all was great.

first piece of advice(which the server told us upon entrance) «you didn’t park in the deck did you? Its like $ 20 to leave so make sure you use our valet» It was Sunday and rainy so we found easy street parking, but I’ll be sure to use valet in the future instead of going for the deck. Had the fritters to start — they were delicious. It comes with three but the flavor is so rich that three is easily enough to split between two people. I just had the spinach salad(Which was yummy) but just your standard apple/blue cheese/nut kind of thing. They were super decked out for Christmas, but the atmosphere is typically like a more upscale southwestern vibe. Think cacti everywhere and very«adobe» interior. I would recommend Nava for drinks and apps in the summer or on a nice fall day on their great patio. They have pretty good margaritas(I like the pear) and I think its a pretty sweet spot to relax and losen up after a long day at work.

Yay! I finally tried Nava! The glorious patio has taunted me for ages while going past it on Peachtree all these years. I was a bit saddened that the night I got to go it was a bit chilly out and they didn’t have heaters out there, so we had to sit inside. But no matter! The interior is well done and given the lovely weather that evening they had the huge doors open letting the crisp fall air breeze in. The service was spot on, and the food was fantasssssssstic! I had some amazing pecan crusted salmon concoction(apparently it’s the chef’s signature dish or something) that I just cant even put into words. My plate was empty in what felt like minutes. Each bite was heavenly and addictive. I’d love to try other things on the menu but I don’t know if I could bring myself to order anything else ever again… So I’ll need to bring friends next time. And there will be a next time.

I have this mutant superpower. No, it’s not as sexy as mindreading or magnetic power. I don’t have razor sharp claws nor do I have superhuman healing abilities, but, let me tell you – I’m the best at what I do and what I do is… um, pick out the best dish on a restaurant menu. At least I USED to be able to. Lately, my powers have been failing me. I used to be king of the table, lording my wise and unique dinner choices over my companions while they picked over their plates with increasing ennui. «No! You can NOT have another bite of my dinner! Keep your fork to yourself! I WILL cut you.» Alas, my powers have waned. I’ve been making bad, terrible entrée choices. Nothing reminded me of this more than my dinner at Nava. I got the two taco combo – beef and fish tacos, a starter of some tuna poke thing and a side of mac and cheese. It was… ho hum. Hell, I’ve had far superior tacos at El Taco Veloz for literally a fifth the price. The tortillas, whether they make them fresh or not, tasted store-bought. I did like the mac and cheese since they whored it out with generous bits of bacon. And that tuna poke contraption? It was fine, but nothing I’d rush back for. My wife, on the other hand, thorough enjoyed her fish. I can’t remember the kind of fish, but it was well seasoned and tasty. OK, the one solitary bite of it she let me have. Dammit. Anyway, outside of the food, the service was kind of befuddled. I don’t know if our waitron had too many tables or was just bad at multi-tasking, but he let us drop more than a few times. One of the suit-wearing managers had to step in and take our check when our bill sat in purgatory far too long. So Nava, was my meal average or was my choice questionable? I don’t know. If I had to go strictly on what *I* ate(and the service), I’d give no higher than 2 stars. But since my wife actually liked her meal(and thanks for the gluten-free menu), I’ll bump it up a notch. But I ain’t rushing back.

I went to Nava in the 90’s and it was much more impressive. My husband had never been even though we have lived in Midtown for over 6 years so we headed there for dinner. They serve bread and corn muffins. The corn muffins were a bit on the dry side. I was leaning toward the Taco’s but our waiter encouraged us to go with other dishes so we did. Pretty much a mistake on our parts. I had the chicken which is served airplane style(with the wing still on it) and it also has the skin on it which is such a waste since it has a reasonably tasty crust made of tortillas. My husband had the scallops which are served with tomato grits. Unfortunately we weren’t impressed with either dish. The portions were small and the pricing was 18.95 for the chicken and 23.95 for the scallops. While there was some spice to our dish, the food was bland. Overall I’ve always been pleased with the Buckhead Life Restaurants and in the past I enjoyed Nava. Be sure to read the other reviews prior to heading to Nava to get the best recommendations on what to order. The taco dinner seems to be an especially good deal at 22.50 with an appetizer, two tacos and a side or just go with a variety of tacos at 4.95 each. If you do decide to self park, it’s a bit pricey and the restaurant won’t validate your parking. I really don’t like valet parking so that was a bit of a turn off for me.

Perfect marg was a letdown tonight(not very strong and I know they use fresh juice but it tasted like a mix) but the special blood orange jalapeño margarita was outrageously delicious and really paired well with food. The salad with arugula, goat cheese and a garlic, fresh herb dressing was fantastic, but the heirloom tomatoes had no business being included. I am a firm believer that if tomatoes are not at the height of flavor and texture, that they should not be on my plate. I appreciate that they were from a local farm, but I have a dozen heirloom tomato plants growing, and all the tomatoes are green. It’s too early, greenhouse or not. Pork two ways featured one of the best tamales I’ve ever tasted. Delicately steamed masa with fresh corn, tender seasoned pork, absolute heaven. It was topped with pork tenderloin and a sweet mango sauce. Wish they would serve this as an app, as I don’t love large, meat-heavy $ 20 dinners. Empenadas were light and served with a sauce so addictive that had me smearing corn bread through it. Not a fan of the tacos. Heavy on cheese and lettuce. Cheers~

A lot of Unilocalers have dined here and other Buckhead Life restaurants thanks to those«Dine Around» cards. Same story for me and that’s what led me to Nava, an upscale-ish Southwestern-themed restaurant located on Peachtree just south of the West/East Paces Ferry intersection. Off the bat, the restaurant definitely made me feel like I was out west in Arizona or New Mexico. The interior décor of the Nava has a lot of Native American influences(e.g. the patterns on their chairs, cushions, and pillows) and parts of the multi-leveled dining room have walls that resemble those of old adobe houses. Very cool. Nava’s menu features a few different types of salsa, a variety of tacos, appetizers including tortilla soup and pulled pork quesadillas, and many seafood entrees. We tried the«Trio Salsa Tasting,» which is all three of their house-made salsas for $ 5. The salsas included chipotle-tomatillo with cilantro, mango-habanero, and avocado-tomatillo with lime juice. I enjoyed the chipotle salsa the best, probably because of their generous use of cilantro. We skipped trying the tacos and instead ordered a couple mains: the Peruvian chile-seared lamb loin with asparagus, Yukon potatoes, Cipollini onion, grapes, and tamarind-lime caramel and the skirt steak«mojo» Argentinean chimichurri with cilantro-garlic fries. The dishes were strong in presentation, but weak in flavor. The lamb marinade had a unique flavor, but I’m not sure if I liked it. I did enjoy the Cipollini onions, though. The steak flavoring was good, but the meat was tough. I guess that’s to be expected from skirt, but it was exceptionally tough I thought. The fries were run-of-the-mill. Overall, the restaurant and food presentation were good, but the food was not very memorable. Service was excellent. Nava also has an outdoor patio with a fountain, but nobody was sitting outside because it was too cold out. Valet is $ 2 plus tip. #Yelp365 — 51⁄365

Nava is a really beautiful and the ambiance is spot on. The service is what you would expect from the Buckhead Life Group. The staff was courteous, professional, and on top of their game. My Texas marguerita was just okay. It was a little on the sweet side and lacking in tequila. The food is pricey and underwhelming. The menu was also very odd and disconnected. Kudos for the blue corn bread sticks. However, I would expect something a little extra at a place like Nava such as an exciting salsa or shushy guacamole to impress diners upfront. Or, at least they should warm the cold and hard white rolls in the bread basket so that they are edible. Don’t expect creative Southwestern or Mexican style of cooking. I understand that this is a fusion place, but the menu items were a tad disconnected. The pathetic tortilla soup was lacking in chicken but full of stringy cheese globules. The tacos were okay, but very Georgia versus New Mexico. BBQ brisquit, shrimp and grits taco, alligator… c’mon. Fish with yukon potatoes and veggies for many entrée options… yawn! If you are a White Male Protestant«Old Atlanta» type from the Buckhead set that cringes at the thought of spice and wishes for the creature comforts of American food with just enough spice to make you feel a little adventurous, then Nava might be for you.

We went here on Friday night with a $ 25 Dining Card in hand. It was too cold to sit on the patio(bummer), so we sat in the bar area and each had a prickly pear margarita. I love Nava’s prickly pear margaritas– they’re definitely on the sweet side so I usually just have one and then switch to something else. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share– the Trio Salsa Tasting(chipotle-tomatillo, mango-habanero, avocado-tomatillo), Sonoma Jack Cheese Fritters, and Pulled Pork Quesadillas. The Trio Salsa Tasting was just okay– nothing to write home about. The Sonoma Goat Cheese Fritters, on the other hand, were delicious. They must be a house specialty because they’re always on the menu. They’re fried goat cheese balls in this perfect red chile jelly sauce– the sauce really makes the dish. The pulled pork quesadillas were pretty lackluster– there wasn’t much meat or flavor to the dish, at all. I enjoy the drinks, patio and Southwestern-feel(I always feel like I’m in Arizona when I’m at Nava…) here, but other than that, Nava is just mediocre. It surprises me that it’s always so busy, because I find the food to be overpriced(most entrees are $ 20+) and the scene is on the dull side. However, I will be back once the nice weather returns and I can enjoy the patio!

The southwest caesar salad is great. The polenta croutons are an interesting touch, and the dressing tastes very good. I had the filet two ways. It was two small filet medallions with two different sauces. A chipotle infused demi and a garlic chile corn jus. Both sauces were very good. The meat was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The polenta fries were a different touch. The portions are modest so I recomend ordering a few small appetizers for the table. We tried the queso fundido. It had an excellent taste to it and they had several options for additional ingredients. My one problem was that chorizo was not one of those options. The décor is good. There is a solid wine selection.

Having heard great things about this place(albeit over 7 years ago before I came to Atlanta), I was glad to finally try out this joint with some good friends. Here’s what we had: Filet Mignon«Trio» Fire Roasted ‘Ranchero’ Sauce, New Mexican Chile Potatoes– This was my entrée. No frills, just 3 perfectly grilled(medium rare) mini-filets accompanied by a large helping of mashed potatoes– with a orange-reddish kick of spice. The potatoes looked like yam before I tasted it. But after that first bite, I was hooked.(4.5) Red Chile Seared Scallops Smoked Tomato Grits, Saffron«Tostada», Salsa Fresca– My wife ordered this entrée, and I got a bite– I really liked the smoked tomato grits. The crunchiness of the tostada provided a good texture contrast.(4) Prestige Farms Chicken Nava Mac & Cheese, Apple Wood Smoked Bacon, Red Chile«Pipian” — We like to share our food, so we managed to have everyone try a bit of everyone else’s dish. This chicken was good, but wasn’t anything memorable per se.(3.25) Sautéed Peruvian Sea Bass Sweet Potato-Corn Hash, Poblano Cream– This sea bass was cooked just right so that the natural oils and the flesh of the fish came through. Really good.(4) Skirt Steak«Mojo» Salsa Verde«Chimichurri,» Cilantro-Garlic«Frites” — The skirt steak was a bit undercooked for my preferences, and the fleshy flavor was not so great for my taste buds. Just ok.(3) Salsa Tasting ‘Trio’: 1)Chipotle-Tomatillo, Cilantro 2)Roasted Tomato, Jalapeño 3)Avocado-Tomatillo, Lime Juice Out of these three, I think the Roasted Tomato was the best, but it wasn’t anything special.(3) Service was prompt, professional, and attentive when needed. If they keep up the quality of their food, this place should be in business for a long time.

I was a little unsure about Nava since I always heard it was just okay. I was pleasantly surprised with the service, food, and atmosphere. After we gave our name to the hostess, my friend was addressed by her name the whole evening by the hostess, waiter, and manager. It was a nice touch. We sat outside since the weather was nice for a summer evening. Even though we were alongside P’tree Rd. there wasn’t any traffic noise. FOOD: We started with the complimentary bread, which was a little hard and too crusty. For dinner, I had the Seared Scallops with smoked tomato grits on top of a saffron tostada. It was delicious! The scallops were seared nicely and the grits were smoky and plentiful. The tostada gave it a surprise crunch since it was totally covered by the grits. For dessert, we ordered the peanut butter mousse bar, which was a good portion to share, but can also be enough for one. The peanut butter mousse on top of a chocolate crisp wafer with a scoop of ice cream. It was sweet and not too heavy… it was a perfect end to the meal. Overall, since this was a great experience I would definitely come back!

I remember going to Nava several times back in the mid-90s when it was like the hot new restaurant in Atlanta, then after a long hiatus went again a few yrs ago and thought the food was just ok, overpriced, and the portions were really small. Fast forward and tonight our entire dining experience was superb, esp. the service. We got 5 star service from the hostesses, the manager, the owner, and esp. huge props to Marc our server — very nice guy, enthusiastic about the food, and best part, he was genuine too. It helped too that we were using the«Summer Dine Around» $ 30 gift card :) Ambience was awesome, too — couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather for patio dining. Honestly with just the reflection pool separating us from P’tree Road, it was hard to believe we were next to a very busy street. They’ve also got an outdoor bar with seating on all three sides — I really felt like I was at some beach restaurant. Food was great, too. Our server said the Seabass was his favorite but I went with the Plantain Crusted Grouper with sweet corn succotash, fava beans, and mole amarillo. My fish was very hearty tasting and while it looked small at first impression, it was actually very filling. The fish alone might have tasted plain but taking each bite with the succotash and dipped in the mole amarillo sauce helped solve that. Tried a few bites of my friend’s Red Chili Seared Scallops with smoked tomato grits — I really liked her dish, too. Both scallops & grits were delicious. For dessert, our server recommended the Chocolate Mud Pie but we got the Peanut Butter Mousse Bar which was his 2nd favorite. It’d been a while since I had anything peanut butter since the salmonella scare so the Mousse Bar sounded more intriguing. Nava gets high scores for presentation for all their dishes but esp. this dessert — check out the photo. The peanut butter mousse is sitting on a chocolate ganache wafer and together with the roasted banana ice cream — tasted smooth & heavenly. The dessert also came with a few banana slices in a cajeta caramel sauce. Again if you can get all those items in your mouth at once, the taste is even better. Nava is definitely worth a return visit. By the way, parking is complimentary valet — just remember to get your ticket stamped by the hostess.

My ladyfriend and I went here last night for my birthday(Thanks for remembering buy the way) and it was great from beginning to end. Upon arrival the host greeted us and kindly wished me a happy birthday. We had a great table inside and could have chosen their cute outside area but it was just a tad too humid. The waiter referred to my date as Ms. Last Name which I thought was really classy, and asked my last name and called us by them the rest of the night. I’ve never seen another restaurant do that so I was hugely impressed. Their margaritas really did rock my face off. I had the passion fruit and my date had the prickly pear and both were just the right amount of alcohol to their respective juices. I liked mine better because it was just a little more boozy. If you go there you MUST get a margarita. The jack cheese fritters I thought were just alright but my dining companion really loved them. The sauce was like a sweet mango glaze and really made the dish. I had some illegally caught peruvian sea bass that was one of the best fish dishes I’ve ever had. The fish was perfectly cooked to accentuate the buttery nature of this great fish. It had some sweet potato mash with it. My ladyfriend had the shortribs that were also amazing. Really soft meat with a fantastic flavor. They came with mashed sweet potatoes. You can’t lose with sweet potatoes. I’d say this place is more of special occasion venue as the check was probably north of $ 100. I’d highly recommend going with someone who will pay! ;)
