Decent place for a quick bite to eat. Laid back attentive service. I have friends that live on this side of town. The train passes by a lot so if you ever sit on the balcony you won’t hear yourself think for about 10 minutes, it’s not their fault though. Aside from that, decent pizza and salads if you’re in the Cumberland area. Solid 3.5 stars, rounded up since I’ve been a few times.

The best. Period. Dot. Now. Here is the back story. Like many movers, the first meal in a new appartment is a pizza. And while house hunting, pizza comes up a few times. While living in Smyrna, New York Pizza Exchange was not the first we called. But it was the last. And if we still lived in Smyrna, it would be the only pizza we would call out for. Sauce? Not bitter and not too sweet. Crust? Perfect. If you REALLY need the olives on only one side… they do it! I’m so sorry we bought a house out of there delivery area. I wonder now… while I’m typing… would they give me one of there delivery bags if I did my own take out?

I came here for the first time about a month ago with a friend as I love pizza. We went on a Friday afternoon/evening and were able to quickly sit down and place our orders. Our waitress was very good and kept us comfortable. The pizza was average like some others have stated. It’s not bad pizza at all, but it’s not the best that I’ve had. They have a lot of toppings to choose from which is awesome. If I’m in the area I would stop here, but I definitely wouldn’t drive across town for it.

I order pizza from NYPE probably once or twice per week and I am never disappointed. They are friendly, quick and have the BEST pizza in town. I’ve dined in their restaurant only once, there was a band– it was a really fun experience!

I’ve given this place 4 – 5 chances over the last few years. I’m always hopeful that it will be an awesome pizza spot/sports bar that can be my new regular football spot but I’m always disappointed. This most recent experience I sat down and was promptly met by my waitress. But then she disappeared around the corner and preceded to text for the next 20 minutes, never once looking up to check up on me. I offered to pay for my Coke, and left hungry, frustrated and disappointed. That was the last chance, never again.

The Mister was out of town on business for a night, and I didn’t feel like cooking… so, despite my phobia of places that claim to have NY-style pizza outside the tri-state area(this is one of the very few ways I’ll call out my «Jersey-ness»), I opted to give NY Pizza Exchange a shot. While they’re not on GrubHub/Seamless, their website does allow for online ordering… and I am a sucker for online ordering.(I know it’s silly, but I appreciate the chance to make specific requests or give good directions to where they’re delivering without having to repeat myself or be misunderstood.) I placed my order at 5:51pm, and the confirmation page said I should expect an average delivery time of about 30 minutes. As I usually do, I over-ordered(allowing for lunch the next day, you know!): 1 Monster(Sicilian) Slice of the PMS, Spicy Garlic Wings, and a Tiramisu. The order arrived promptly at 6:23pm. The driver was friendly, and the food was still hot. The thing that made me most hopeful about the meal ahead was the slice’s crust — the texture of the outside was crisp, and the body of the slice was appropriately chewy. It was doughy(as one might expect from Sicilian), but not overly so. The toppings were fresh and tasty, with fresh shrooms and flavorful(but not super greasy) sausage crumbles being the big winners. The wings were meaty, with crisp edges. I’d venture to say they would have been even more crisp had they been consumed on site(not sealed up to steam and soften on the way from the restaurant). The wings were accompanied by the requisite blue cheese and celery(both of which were happily wrapped separately from the hot items, in the bag with the tiramisu). The tiramisu was just okay — definitely seemed homemade, which is a good thing, but missing the requisite cocoa powder. Oh, and it was semi-frozen in the middle… that was a less-than pleasant surprise. All in all, not a horrible outing. Next time, when I’m feeling more adventurous, I’ll have to sample the traditional NY-style slice.

New York Pizza Exchange(«NYPE») is a pizza restaurant located in the heart of Vinings. The restaurant has a ton of TVs so it can serve as a sports bar too. The business has been around since 1983. The restaurant sits right up next to the railroad tracks so when trains roll by, you can really see, hear, and feel them. Unlike trains that pass through developments such as Atlantic Station, the trains that pass through downtown Vinings don’t slow down as much and actually pass through at a pretty high rate of speed. NYPE is a casual pizza joint. Table seating is available inside and outside. The enclosed patio tables have umbrellas. Inside, the plentiful TVs are mostly tuned to sports channels(the others are tuned to news). The furniture is showing some wear as several tables and chairs are annoyingly wobbly. Windows face the parking lot, Paces Ferry Rd, and the railroad tracks so you can see trains zoom past. NYPE sells New York style pizzas and Sicilian style pizzas. The NY pizzas are the«standard» triangular-sliced pizzas most of us are used to. The Sicilian pizzas are square-cut pizzas that are also a bit more deep dish. You can order both the NY and Sicilian pizzas by the slice. NY slices are approximately $ 2.50−5.60 each and Sicilian slices are approximately $ 3.80−6.80 each. You can also get whole pizzas: 14-inch and 18-inch NY pizzas and small and large Sicilian pizzas. Those can range anywhere from $ 15 to upwards of about $ 30 each. There are about 10 house specialty pizzas available. I was told by one of the staff the three most popular special pizzas are: * P.M.S. — stands for pepperoni, mushroom, and sausage * Can’t Beat The Meat — pepperoni, Canadian bacon, sausage, ground beef, bacon * The Canarsie Killer — pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, ham, Canadian bacon, mushrooms, green peppers, black olives, onions, tomatoes The Canarsie Killer is the most expensive of the specialty pizzas and understandably so with all of its ingredients. These pizzas are baked with mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce. Whether you order by the slice or buy whole pies, I believe all the pizzas are made from scratch. Not reheated. The slices are big. I think two slices of the NY pizza are enough to fill most people up. One slice of the NY pizza plus a side(e.g. salad) would make a nice meal too. If ordering Sicilian, one slice is enough for one person. If you like meat on your pizzas, then it’s hard to go wrong with any of above. The Can’t Beat The Meat is NYPE’s meat lover’s pizza and The Canarsie Killer is NYPE’s supreme pizza. Out of the three pizzas, I prefer the P.M.S. the best simply because it’s not loaded with as many ingredients. The topping portions are generous and the mozzarella nicely melts and integrates itself with all the ingredients. The Canarsie Killer is packed with so many toppings that they easily tumble off when trying to pick up a floppy slice. It’s easier(and less messy) to eat this particular pizza with a fork and knife. All of the meats on the Killer make it a savory, hearty, and filling pizza. In general, I’ve found the toppings to be sufficiently fresh and flavorful. The crust is A-OK. There’s a good amount of dough, minimal char, and it’s got an appetizing chew. Aside from pizza, NYPE also offers several different types of salads, Italian dishes like bruschetta, pastas(e.g. spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, baked ziti), strombolis, calzones, and Italian desserts like cannoli and tiramisu. They’ve also got an espresso machine. Service is fine, though it can take a while for pizzas to come out. NYPE delivers in the Vinings, Smyrna, and Cumberland area. Check their web site for a delivery map. Carry-out is available too. Overall, the pizza at NYPE isn’t outstanding, but it isn’t bad either. It’s average.

We came at a time that was the end of the lunch crowd in Vinings waited a half an hour for our order finally went in to ask and were told that they just forgot our order so I would never recommend this for somebody in a hurry all we ordered were salads and slices

I wanted New York style pizza and I was in Vinings so stopping at NY pizza exchange was a no-brainer. I planned to order carry-out and take the pizza home with me for later on that evening. When I walked into the restaurant, I was expecting to be overwhelmed by the yummy smell of pizza being made but, surprisingly, even though there were pizzas coming out of the oven regularly, I really didn’t smell much of anything. «Hmmm…a sign maybe?» The guy who took my order wasn’t rude just not very welcoming at all. The restaurant was very chill at the moment so he could’ve taken the time to talk to me, find out if I’d been in before, ask how my day was going… something. Instead, no smile, no offer to make suggestions for a first time guest, no conversation whatsoever really. Customer service is a really big deal to me and it greatly enhances my experience… it even makes the food taste better. «Hmm, another sign maybe?» I took a quick glimpse at the menu and decided to order a large, half-cheese(which the menu said was their specialty) and half PMS(Pepperoni, Mushroom, Sausage). I copped a seat and waited for about fifteen minutes before my pizza was boxed and ready. It looked amazing when I peaked into the box and finally, with the pizza in the car with me, I could actually smell it; it smelled great. By the time I got back home, I was hungry and super eager to taste the pie. Verdict? It was… pretty good… but it was nothing to write home about. The flavor was nice but it had a kind of an overly chewy texture. The cheese, which was supposed to be their specialty, was actually my least favorite. I’ve had much, much better. The PMS was good though. It had a nice flavor with a bit of a spicy kick. I’m usually not a fan of sausage but I loved the taste of their sausage. It was the crumbly, spicy kind that resembled ground beef, which for a non-sausage lover, just worked. So, in summary, it was an O.K. pizza experience but I probably won’t be back.

Ordered Take out. The chicken wings are awesome! They are baked & big. I ordered sauce on the side. The wings were great even without sauce. The pizza was good. We did half& half. The crust was perfect. The pizza was not greasy. Plenty left over for breakfast.

I love this pizza place! But I loathe there customer service, I always feel as if I am a bother when I call to place my order and go in to pick it up. Which makes me not want to patronize this business.

I always feel bad giving one star for something, but I can’t help this one. I went here once with my friends and it was great(around June of 2013). I went again with the same friends less than three months later, and boy was it a mistake. I’m not quite sure if management changed or what, but it was a complete 180. The food was horribly greasy, they were stingy with the toppings on my pizza, and stingy with the toppings in the calzone as well. Also, the second time I went, I was trying to make the best of the experience when I found a twig in my calzone– yes, a twig. Like from a bush. Yeah, never again. At least we made it into a joke. I won’t be back.

This is a cute spot in Vinings. I like how the train runs right next to it and gives it sort of an old timey feel. There is this band that plays there two Fridays or so out of the month…2 guys and they’re really great too and add to the atmosphere.

This place is so fun and laid back! The servers are great and upbeat. Great place to come with a group for a party or to watch the game. Very cool decorations on the walls and of course the pizza is so yummy!

On a whim I decided to come here on my lunch break last week and it was pleasantly surprised by a few things. First, I was pretty much alone in the restaurant when I arrived. Despite that, my food was extremely fresh and made to order. Caesar salads can go bad in a hurry. So can pizza by the slice. They do both well here! I appreciated the Home Depot employee discount, too.

I don’t have high expectations of pizza in Atlanta since I grew up on NY pizza. But I will say they get pretty close. When I fold up my slice and after a few bites, oil is dripping down my hand, that’s a win for me. I ordered a Hawaiian slice which was just okay. Not much Canadian bacon on it. I also ordered a regular cheese slice which did not have enough cheese and the dough was a little thin and tough. But the flavor was pretty good where I could accept the NY pizza title this spot has given itself. I would order extra cheese to give it that extra push towards great. We went during lunch time and were seated right away. Service was great for a mildly busy afternoon. Prices were good since my two slices came to 6 bucks. My co-worker had a calzone and said it was the best she has had. And it looked quite delicious. I would definitely recommend giving it a try.

We had a large half-chicken, half-sausage, all mushroom pizza. Crust was very good and not overdone at all. The chicken cubes were large and plentiful. The crumbled sausage was also plentiful. I’m not a sausage fan(due to the caraway seeds — hate ‘em) but my wife likes it and that was her side. I had the chicken and it was very good. Overall, there are many, much better pizza places in Atlanta but this one is pretty good.
