This delightful little gem of a studio aims to bring many different types of arts and artists together in one place. I was fortunate enough to attend the See Through Souls event tonight, a benefit for the Women’s Resource Center to Stop Domestic Violence, and found it to be enchanting. Many artists were in attendance, and there were a long string of musical performances. When I first walked in I wondered how the acoustics would be since the space is loft-like and therefore has a lot of hard surfaces, but the sound was great. We caught the bands Walk From The Gallows, Los Buenos, What Happened to Your Fire Tiger, and Tag Team(my son Matt’s guitar teacher plays in this one) each of which were amazingly talented. Definitely recommend — check out their events page for upcoming performances and events.

Picaflor Studio is one of those spaces that’s a little hard to describe, as it encompasses so much. I attended a Halloween’s Eve party at this charming little loft but discovered on the website that Picaflor operates as a yoga and dance studio by day, transforming into an art gallery and music venue at night. The space strives to house all the wonderful artistic movements Atlanta has to offer under one roof. At the Halloween’s Eve event I hit up, I caught musical performances by both Wighat and Los Buenos. A musician accompanied me to the party, commenting on the high-quality sound and impressive stage set-up. Plus, Holly Lang of Pine Magazine was working the bar, where she mixed me a very strong Jack and Coke. I also must mention that«picaflor» is Spanish for«hummingbird.» Fantástico!
