If you live or work in Midtown, check out Pop Up Chef on Thursdays at 10th and Peachtree. A recent week had the chef from Taqueria del Sol serving up delicious, filling burritos alongside chips and salsa for $ 7.(Chips: $ 1; Burritos: $ 6.) A great change of pace from a sit down meal and a way to encourage the burgeoning street food movement in Atlanta. Bön appetit!

I’ve eaten here a few times during Street Food Thursday at 10th& Peachtree. Every week a different chef is featured and they different lunch items and serve them to the crowd. Most times there’s one or two things to choose and they’re usually sandwiches. It feels kind of like a Top Chef competition. The chefs prepare something special for the day that’s not on their normal menu. One week Empire State South was set-up and I had one of the best fried pork sandwiches, ever. In hindsight I don’t think I’ve had such a thing since I was in high school, so that isn’t a very fair comparison. Today the chef from The Hungry Peach was there. I opted for the barbecue pork sandwich combo, which came with some sort of mini peach dessert and a big cup of lemon tea(or something like it) for only $ 7. They also had pimento cheese sandwiches served on toasted bread with lettuce and tomato. Either would be the perfect thing for a hot Atlanta afternoon.
