Puddle of Pooch

I waited over a week to write this review. I did this so I would be more calm and to give Erica a chance to return my phone call that I was not pleased. She never did return my call.
First let me start with that Erica, the owner, is a very pleasant and charming woman.
This is my second time using Erica. The first time was several months ago on a busy Saturday. Jake is a wheaten terrier who is well behaved and 13 years old. I showed her pictures of how he was groomed before and she did excellent job even though he was somewhat matted.
This time I left Jake off midweek at 7:45 AM. They told me that they would call when he was done. At 2:00 PM she called and said that his legs were matted and she would have to cut them short. Over 2 hours later I still hadn’t heard back so I called her. She was surprised at the time and said she wasn’t finished but would be in ½ an hour. I asked if she was so busy and she mentioned that her assistant was off for the week.
I picked up Jake an hour later to find him totally shaved, legs, body, scalp and most of his face too. If you know wheaten terriers you know that they have a «goatee «and long hair on top. I was horrified especially since she did such a great job before when he was more matted. I then asked why she cut the top of his head (it wasn’t matted) and she said that she forgot. She then said it is only hair and it will grow back. I still cannot understand why she shaved his scalp and face if his legs were matted. He now looks like a small yellow lab mix. I can only assume that she was too rushed to even try to do a decent job and took the easy way out or she is incompetent and last time her assistant groomed Jake. I truly believe it is the former. Either way this is by far the worst haircut he has ever had in his 13 years. They say The difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut is two weeks. Well it’s been two weeks and he still looks horrible. It will take several months for his to grow enough to be re-​groomed so he resembles a terrier. Even then it will be very short. Everyone who knows Jake including the daycare and close friends comment that this is the worst haircut he has ever received.
She should be ashamed of her work.

I’ve been taking my dog here ever since I adopted her 8 years ago and it just dawned on me that I needed to review! Erica, her husband, and staff are amazing. My dog is a little scardy cat but they cater to her needs and I feel totally at ease when I need to board her. When I get her groomed, she always comes back looking great. I totally recommend Puddle of Pooch. They’re like my dog’s second family: o)

I’m going to be 100% honest here the surrounding area is a dump. I was scared pulling into the place and terrified of leaving my westie there for a simple bath for fear of him being abducted and sold or something. The person that checked me in didn’t even ask for my phone number or dogs name! And I swear I saw a crying puppy jumping against the glass as I walked in.
However, after I picked him up he was clean happy and looked great. The bath was $ 35+ tip which for Atlanta is a little overpriced IMHO.
Additionally, I met the owner whom was really sweet and had a very safe vibe. This made me feel a little better and redeemed her business for me to earn her 3 stars.

I would say that my experience here was amazing. I had to be into work early & they let me drop my little man off early (before they opened). Allowing me to do that made the whole experience even better. I am so busy & to see people that can accommodate that is just incredible. My baby’s groom was just PERFECT and I can say that I am a more difficult person to please when it comes to my fur baby. Puddle of Pooch did NOT let me down!!!(:

After reading all the reviews for the surrounding dog groomers in buckhead, I decided to go here! I was sooo pleasantly surprised! Very reasonable pricing and Erica took care of my puppy so well, as I was nervous for her first grooming experience! Highly recommend!

My dogs, Jake and Zeke, have been going to Erica since she opened her first location (11 years). Zeke acts crazy when we go to to vet but will let Erica do anything to him. They love going there and Erica. I highly recommend Puddle of Pooch!

We have been going to Puddle of Pooch for about 10 years, and they are great. The owner (Erika) lives attached to the facility, so she is always there. The service is very personal and she really, truly loves the dogs. She also does a great job at the grooming. I have a standard poodle and a Lhasa Apsa, and she does both beautifully. She also uses natural products. We love you Erika!

Best place in Atlanta. We have two dogs and this is their second time staying over night there. The owners are amazing. They make you feel so comfortable leaving your fur-​babies in their care. Since I’m out of the country I have family calling checking on them every few days. They couldn’t be any nicer and caring for my two dogs. They really treat your dogs like it’s their own and it doesn’t feel like the usual kennel you see elsewhere in Atlanta.

Doggy daycare. We have a hyper vizsla that goes there once a week to burn some energy. When he gets home he’s exhausted from playing all day. They always know exactly who I am picking up and give me a full run down of how my dog did that day. Couldn’t ask for any nicer of a place. Highly recommend.

Took my peekapoo in for a full groom. He was in desperate need of a haircut and cutting his nails. I told them to use their judgement and he came home looking like a cute well groomed pup with a march st. patty’s bandana. His fur was really soft and he was happy.
The location is really convenient for midtown residents and getting an appointment is easy. Their prices are reasonable as well. I was on the market for a new groomer and I highly recommend puddle of pooch.

Just picked up my nine month old Havanese; he got his first haircut today. Kelly did a great job! I was scared to follow through with the haircut because I had had awful experiences with other places and didn’t know if anyone understood the cut for the breed, BUT I was so happy when I saw Barkley. He looked great! We’ll always be going back to Puddle of Pooch!

Erika is the best! I used to take my beagles all the way out to Conyers for boarding because I couldn’t find anything affordable in Atlanta. Luckily, I found Puddle of Pooch! You can tell that Erika really loves dogs, and she always remembers my «babies» even when they haven’t stayed there in a long time. The location is right off the highway and super convenient. I have shopped around, and her prices cannot be beat for cage-​free daycare and boarding. Most importantly, though, I really do feel like my dogs are treated well when they stay here, so I don’t have to worry about them when I am away from home!

I have been taking my dog to Puddle of Pooch for boarding for approximately the last 5 years and I love it. Though I can’t say my dog likes it when I leave her, she seems excited when I take her there. She loves the staff! Erica and Bill are great and both have a great love of dogs. The place is clean. My dog has never gotten kennel cough there. I don’t have to worry about my leaving my dog there as I know she will be well taken care of. It is a «mom and pop» place but I like that because I know some teenager who is more interested in talking on the phone rather than watching the dogs will not be working there. This is a «doggie daycare» type of facility where the dogs are allowed to play in out in open areas and are not kept in a cage all day.
I can’t speak to the grooming but I would highly recommend Puddle of Pooch for boarding.

We have been taking our dogs to Puddle of Pooch for about a year now. Our dogs always seem to get plenty of play time and absolutely love Erika. Her and her staff are great with the dogs!

I couldn’t ask for anything better… The staff at Puddle of Pooch are on top! I was always skeptical of doggie day care places, expensive or not, but Erica put all that stress at ease for me the moment I walked in. I have never seen anyone love animals more than her. The staff treats each and every one with respect and love.
Puddle of Pooch is simple but it filled with the quality needed to care for you pooch. They honor special dietary needs but also offers «special treats» for dinner at time… I heard chicken breast was on the menu WOW… thats better than the treats Hildi gets at home!
Grooming is also top notch and nobody makes baby girl look better!

My family is new to the Atlanta-​area and had no clue where to go for grooming services. We chose Puddle of Pooch because of the positive reviews on «yelp.»
We were more than pleased with their prices, services, and customer service. Their prices were very reasonable, and they did a great job grooming our Westie and Toy Poodle. Both dogs came home with precious bows in their hair!
We will definitely be return customers.

Something keeps bringing me back. The attention Erika pays my Yorkies, the way she grooms them just so, her new facility that has that same «mom and pop» feel, with the cleanliness, and modern amenities we’ve come to expect for our pooches? Yeah, Erika is the only groomer I trust with my Yorkies. Her prices are still reasonable, I can get same day service, and the staff are really friendly.

SHE IS THE BEST. I must say she LOVES DOGS and all animals you can see it all over her. I was so happy to leave my dogs with her. this place is the best. no cage boarding except when they are sleeping. its is very clean… and when I pick up my dogs even if I do not get them bath. they smell good. they don’t smell like they been in a kennel or boarding. THIS IS THE BEST PLACE IN ATLANTA. I heard they had a rate increase but still its worth the money.

My dog, Travis was a client of the owner, Erika at Puddle of Pooch from the very start when she first started grooming. Travis went to Puddle of Pooch for years for boarding & grooming, until we moved from Atlanta. He’s been groomed many places since then, but no one has done as great of a job as at Puddle of Pooch. Travis has long hair which we have shaved into a puppy cut during the summer, and every inch of his body was always shaved immaculately. Nowhere else we’ve taken him can touch Erika’s work. Erika is in this business because dogs are her passion and it shows — Travis adored her and he loved going there.
I agree with the other reviews that this is a small «mom and pop» operation, but I think that’s the beauty of it. It’s a small business owned by the people who run it, who love dogs and are committed to making sure the dogs in their care are well groomed, cared for and happy. There are plenty of other large boarding and grooming places in Atlanta which are very good, but when we saw how our dog responded to those places compared to Puddle of Pooch, it was clear which one he preferred.
