Hooray! PushPush was the scene of my first public reading-of-a-thing-I-wrote, and it’s a great venue for it. Write Club Atlanta and its affiliated events are here every Wednesday, and they’re all worth checking out. The intimacy allows for great interaction between the people on stage and those in the audience, and it makes it easy to socialize with the people around you. Make new friends! Yell at performers! Drink! What else would you want to do in a theater, truly?

The variety is really neat — PushPush is sort of an incubator for projects, and if they go well, they get a show. So, that leads to a pretty wide range of content, from really serious and highly scripted, to awesome improv. Film is becoming a big part of what they do, too. Definitely, if you’re looking for a night out in Decatur, check it out. Lively, unexpected performances. Great beer prices, and right next to Corner Pub and Figo.

Cozy. Immediately what you’ll think too once you step inside Decatur’s PushPush Theater. The space is unexpectedly vertical — it seats just 120 people, and anyone with vertigo may not love the setup. It’s exactly what you’d want to see from a edgy, progressive place, though. They’ve been around for ten years and have a diverse roster to show for their experience. Everything from improv, to film screenings, to shows with a very good sense of humor. Tickets run a reasonable range, maxing out at $ 25 a person, and everything is sold general admission. Check out this unique theater’s upcoming shows — it’ll make a fun night out in Decatur!
