I was searching for my 9 month old nephew’s Christmas present, and was dreading a trip to the big box stores. While passing through Glenwood Park one weekend, I saw a sign for Rhen’s Nest and stopped by a couple days later. It was just what I’d been looking for: small, local, and filled with a unique selection. Nothing in here plugs in, makes(electronic) noise, or requires batteries. Christina and John were great help with picking out a few things for Noah. I had a few ideas my sister had provided and they took that inspiration and ran with it. They gave me a handful of good ideas across a range of prices(not just grabbing the most expensive item on the shelf), and told me about their experiences with them. And on Christmas Day, everything I picked up was a big hit. I see many birthdays and Christmases of shopping to come at Rhen’s Nest.

I had the pleasure of meeting owner John today. He and his wife opened Rhen’s Nest, with the help of their daughter Rhen of course! She’s the CFO … Chief Fun Officer. I’ll definitely be purchasing all my niece’s gifts at this local gem.

Yes! A quality toy shop on this side of town. I love having a neighborhood toy store to buy birthday presents from. No-tech toys-meaning creative play and no batteries or plugs. They also host events like story times and crafts. Support your local businesses!
