The Race for Research is a 5K run/2K walk is an annual race held each year in the center of Atlantic Station that is hosted by the Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation. This race is to help raise awareness as well as money to support the cure for brain tumors, many which can be cancerous and can lead to death. So far this non-profit has been able to raise over $ 2 million dollars to help provide research grants to help find a cure to this terrible disease. Some types of brain tumors are very rare and have a low survival rates. The worse one is glioblastoma, which is the most aggressive malignant primary brain tumor, survival without treatment is 4 ½ months. Those with it in the 55 – 64 age range have a 4−6% survival rate. This year had an excellent turn out and we really enjoyed the race, as always. Feel free to check out the pictures and take part in this race next year and to help find a cure for brain tumors.
