Go here. Cheat! Cheat on your salad. Cheat on your ice cream scoop and let it melt alone in the corner of your bowl. I was introduced to this place from a personal trainer…(don’t ask, I worked hard that day). Great cupcake selection. Only place I’d go to grab some in Atlanta. Rivals only Nashville’s Cupcake Collections Carrot CupCake. Staff is friendly. Seating it limited, but it’s a cupcake. Eat it and go forth and live your life.

This wonderful tiny gem I’ve accidently stumbled upon is amazing! Located in a quite sweet area in Cabbagetown. Has the most delicious cupcakes! I had the Lemon infused with lavender. They have a unique variety for every palette with a selection of scones, cheesecake and muffins that are lovingly gluten free and vegan… but the TASTE! Omg! They are FULL of flavor! They are usually open with friendly service until 830pm. Try them out, you won’t be disappointed.

Amazing cupcakes! My girls and I celebrated an after brunch birthday cupcakes just around Valentine’s Day… Maybe 6 cupcakes were too much to indulged in, but if you’re going to cheat it better be here! The salted caramel cupcake was outstanding !!!

Spotted this hidden gem on a drive home from dinner one evening and decided to pop in for a sugar fix with a friend from out of town. The staff was friendly and helped my friend and I narrow down our cupcake options. They all looked so delicious it was just too hard to decide. My friend had the chocolate chip cookie dough cupcake which basically had a cookie baked into the center of the cupcake. She said it was absolutely delicious and the cake was very moist. I opted for the gluten free brownie which had the homemade baked good touch with the right amount of crunch. Wish they had more GF options but definitely a spot I hope to bring more visitors to in the future.

Found this place through Unilocal when I had a craving for something sweet after a dinner date with boyfriend. I had a really hard time deciding on a cupcake because they are all beautiful! We chose the Chocolate Dream which was a milk chocolate cupcake, with cookie dough backed inside and half a cookie on top. The cupcakes are not as dense as other cakes and large enough to share. I’ll be back!

We stopped in a little before closing after finding Sweet Cheats on our gps after dinner nearby. It’s a little neighborhood gem in Cabbagetown. I half expected the selection to be limited since we arrived 45 minutes before closing, but the desert case was full and inviting. My friend & our 3 teenage daughters oohed & awed for several minutes before making our selections. The girls got 2 – 3 cake cake pops each, they loved them. I had a salted caramel cupcake in store and brought home a strawberry champagne cupcake. The salted caramel was rich & delicious with a homemade browned sugar crisp on top. I haven’t eaten the other cupcake yet. I like a nice balance of cake & frosting, these had more frosting than I like. However, the frosting was delicious none the less. I only ate half the frosting. I’ll definitely go back to try their other desserts,

In one word, yes! I’m writing this review mid consumption. I’m a cynic at heart, so that means they must be amazing! My girlfriend and I ordered an assortment of cake pops, and every flavor is even more delicious than the last! Couple that with outstanding customer service, lots of windows, and decent pricing, and it’s really a fantastic spot!

We had dinner at a Mexican restaurant around the corner so we thought we’d give Sweet Cheats a shot after reading the great Unilocal reviews. Aww man, I really wanted to like this place because the inside of the shop was so cute and the guy and gal behind the counter were very nice. They answered our questions and perked up when we told them it was our first time there and that we’d found them on Unilocal. I don’t like cupcakes much and neither my wife nor I like cake pops but there’s a Unilocal coupon for a free cake pop,(or as Sweet Cheats calls it a“cruffle”), so we used it and got one anyway. My wife also got a banana-chocolate-peanut butter cupcake although I don’t remember its cute name. Since none of that appealed to me, I got a smores, peanut butter brownie(can you tell we like peanut butter?) and a cinnamon roll. We were curious about the cake pop, which was a red velvet, so we decided to try it on the way home. Eh, it was okay. It was more white chocolate than anything else(can we talk about the fact that white chocolate is not, and should NEVER be considered chocolate!? Just no) but the red velvet inside was moist. Still, one bite was enough for me. I couldn’t wait to get home so I could warm up my cinnamon roll in the microwave and eat it while I watched my favorite show, Dateline! Woot! I was impressed with the size and weight of the roll, I just KNEW it would be good. When I put it in my mouth though… yuck! Yeah, it was that bad. It wasn’t that it was stale either, worse, it was raw! Undercooked, premature, the Pillsbury dough boy BEFORE the oven! It tasted like pure flour and was the texture of chewing gum. It also didn’t taste fresh at all, like it had been sitting there for three days or something. The brownie wasn’t much better, the concept was interesting but in the end there was too much going on and my taste buds were confused. And it also tasted like it had been baked two, three days ago. I was really disappointed. But, the reason I still gave them two stars is because my wife really enjoyed her cupcake. I took a bite myself and it really was moist and delicious. She was very happy with it but I’m still salty over my raw cinnamon roll, that was just unforgivable.

I came to Sweet Cheats yesterday evening for a treat after dinner. I had read great reviews about all of their many flavors of cupcakes so when I got to the store I chose what looked good, instead of referring to Unilocal for suggestions like I always do and found myself disappointed. We ordered 2 Cookies and Cream cruffles(cake pops) that tasted like a wet, undercooked cupcake dipped in icing. no thank you. I ordered the Strawberry Coconut, one of their flavors of the week, and the cupcake was made it from boxed pink strawberry cake mix! Now Atlanta has a LOT of cupcake places so w/all of that competition I would expect real strawberries baked into the cupcake like I had at Piece of Cake or Georgetown. My sister took a bite and said it tasted like«Pepto Bismol.» My Mom had their Res Velvet and said it was okay. While my sister enjoyed her Samoa chocolate cupcake. So if you are going to Sweet Cheats, look at suggestions on Unilocal because not everything sweet is worth cheating for.

After reading so many great reviews, it saddens me to have to be the Debbie Downer Unilocaler. They sell some very pretty cupcakes. The variety of choices is impressive. The service is awesome. Unfortunately, our cupcakes were just okay. The taste was mediocre at best. My fiancé had a raspberry chocolate and I chose the Samoa cookie cupcake. The cake part of the two cupcakes was pretty similar. The overwhelming amount of overly sweet icing was what differentiated the two cupcake flavors. Sadly, the icing didn’t really taste fresh. For four dollars a cupcake, I expected more than just pretty. It reminded me of the way wedding cakes used to be. Pretty to look at, but no fun to eat.

I know my cupcakes, and I know that THIS is my favorite across ATL, NY, and Chicago. Located in the heart of cabbagetown, a little hidden, it’s a gem of a place. Nice and cozy, unforgettable once you try the deliciousness. My favorite: THEPINKLEMONADE!!! I make my roommate pick this one up on her way home from work so we can have dessert after dinner. Other great mentions: Pink Champagne, Salted Caramel, and the chocolate strawberry one. The cakes aren’t dry like GiGi’s and if you want to try a lot, the cake pops are great little options. They have great hours too!

I’ve tried a lot of cupcakes in Atlanta and Sweet Cheats is the best I’ve had! Located in the middle of Cabbagetown, it’s very easy to pull your car up(free street parking) and hop out to pick out some yummy cupcakes(or other baked goods.) Another perk is they open very early, so it’s easy to pick up treats on the way into work in the morning. I’ve been there twice and the staff has always been really nice and helpful. The first time I visited, the person working the register walked around to my side of the counter and walked me through every flavor I was looking at. I know that’s a small gesture, but it was really nice! The only thing I’ve tried from them are cupcakes and cake pops, and both were fantastic. They always have a LOT of flavors to choose from, and they are incredibly fresh and delicious. There are some really unique flavors and I love that they always pair up a cake pop with each cupcake. The icing isn’t «fluffy»(like Highland Bakery) but instead is rich and creamy. I definitely prefer this icing over Highland. Plus, these cupcakes are legitimately some of the prettiest I’ve seen. :) Every cupcake was good, but my favorite was a banana chocolate cupcake. Hands down, it’s the best cupcake I’ve EVER had. Sweet Cheats is definitely my go-to cupcake shop!

I never write a bad review, but this place is another case of a Unilocal mistake. Was in the area and craving something sweet so decided to stop in and check Sweet Cheats out. Upon entering it was a cute coffee shop feel with both seating inside and out. The dessert case was clean and filled with tons of options: mainly cupcakes and cake pops. A few random dessert bars and brownies as well. Lets just say my fiancé spit out what he ordered. I believe it was the chocolate cake pop that set him off. He is by far the biggest dessert fan I know, and I’ve never seen him not finished something sweet. The cake pops and cupcakes were cold, stale and did not seem fresh I believe sweet cheats could be successful if they focused their menu items, instead of having 20+ options to choose from. You can’t do everything well and that applies to making deserts! Sad to say I have no desire to revisit

I should have gone here first. These cupcakes are really good. They have a nice texture and the icing is good. The filling was a nice touch. I got a strawberry champagne cupcake, cruffle, and Malibu cruffle. Everything surpassed my expectations. I will visit here whenever I’m in ATL !

Sweet Cheats is a dessert café located in the heart of Cabbagetown. It’s only a few years old and can be found on the north side of Cabbagetown Park, on the ground level of what looks like a modest-sized home. The store specializes in single serving size desserts and café beverages, such as coffees and teas. Cupcakes and cake pops are among the business’ most popular items. They’re baked fresh in-house every day and flavors rotate daily. Sweet Cheats likes to refer to their cake pops as «Cruffles.» On any given day, you might see roughly 15 different cupcakes and 15 different cake pops beautifully presented and available for immediate purchase from behind a glass display. Examples of other goodies for sale are brownies, cookies, macarons, cheesecakes, chocolate mousse cups, and fruit tarts. Some of the non-sweet stuff consists of bread products like bagels, muffins, English muffins, croissants, and breakfast sandwiches. Several coffee beverages are offered, iced or hot, such as espresso, latte, and mocha. There are steamers(flavored steamed milk), teas(e.g. chai tea), and fancy or «gourmet» hot chocolate. Also, there’s always special or seasonal sweets and beverages to try, such as hot apple cider in the winter. Each time you visit, it seems like there’s always something new on the chalkboard. The prices at Sweet Cheats are comparable to other Atlanta area specialty cupcake shops, meaning they aren’t cheap. A single cupcake is $ 4, a half dozen is $ 23, and one dozen is $ 40. Cake pops are $ 2 each, $ 12 for a half dozen, and $ 24 for a dozen(no discounts if you buy more). Expect to spend about $ 3 – 4 for a caffeinated drink. I’ve tried many of Sweet Cheats’ creations. In general, the desserts are indeed very sweet — admittedly, almost too sweet for me, but I’m not a big sweets person. Though flavors vary, the cupcakes(and other treats) seem to be quite rich and decadent. No corners are cut and I don’t believe any artificial ingredients are used in the recipes. It’s all real eggs, butter, cream, and sugar. Sweets I’ve tried include: Sweet & Sinful cupcake Creamy Crunchy Bliss cupcake Sweet & Sinful cake pop Blueberry macaron Heath bar cheesecake The«Sweet & Sinful» cupcake is a cheesecake-flavored cupcake with shortbread cookie, a strawberry, and a strawberry buttercream cheese icing. It’s slightly«lighter» than the other cupcakes. Its cake pop counterpart is equivalent to putting the cupcake cake portion on a stick and dipping it in chocolate. No strawberry or icing, but the rest of the flavors are replicated. Both the cupcake and cake pop are delicious. The«Creamy Crunchy Bliss» cupcake is a white and chocolate cupcake with Oreo bits baked in. On top is an Oreo cookie and a buttercream cheese icing. It’s addictive, luscious, and succulent. The blueberry macaron I tried was very good. I wouldn’t put it among the best macarons I’ve tried in Atlanta, but it’s right behind. Perhaps it’s because I ordered the macaron towards the end of the day when it wasn’t as fresh. Either way, one thing I noticed about Sweet Cheats’ macarons is they are bigger than the average macaron. The macaron had great flavor, though I wasn’t completely sold on it due to its relatively harder/firmer consistency. Don’t let that steer you away though. If you’re a fan or macarons, try one. The Heath bar cheesecake is stellar. It’s hard to go wrong with crunchy chunks of toffee and milk chocolate melded together with tasty, creamy cheesecake. Of the sweets I’ve mentioned in this review, I recommend both the Heath bar cheesecake and the Creamy Crunchy Bliss cupcake. Good stuff. The beverages aren’t bad. I’ve tried some of the seasonal drinks such as the pumpkin pie mocha in the fall and the caramel apple latte. I really enjoyed the caramel apple latte. It’s soothing/refreshing and not overly sweet. The pumpkin pie mocha could’ve used some work. I could taste the pumpkin pie, but the drink was too bitter. Like other local dessert shops, Sweet Cheats has sturdy, stylish, and functional to-go containers for all of their sweets, down to containers tailor-made to store and protect single cupcakes. The business also ships(minimum order one dozen cupcakes) and delivers(minimum order $ 40). The store space is intimate and casual. It works well as a meet-up spot for small groups. Free Wi-Fi is available(password: sweet9512). Free parking can be found in the small parking lot behind the building or along any of Cabbagetown’s residential roads. Service is great. You may be served directly by the owner, Shirley, or her husband, Robert.
