CLOSED – This place changed names to Mamas recently. Same owner but she didn’t want the franchise rules and restrictions. Now it is CLOSED. The whole block has been fenced off and a new complex is being built over the whole block. So she moved into La Perlas space a block away. Mamas name is up already at La Perla, and La Perla markings are all gone. I got an email from Groupon to seek a refund for any unused vouchers at La Perla. I HATETHAT! It is all a Mother — Son team basically. He was generally at La Perla and she at Mamas. They also own Las Margaritas.

This restaurant is actually a chain originating in San Antonio(my hometown). Every time I’m in Atlanta I have to come here to get a bit of home. First the exterior of the building is very run down. Usually they are well kept and both the exterior and interior have bright colors and are playing tejano music. The food at this location is on par with other Taco Cabanas. I love the fresh salas bar. The flautas and enchiladas are great. I don’t remember seeing one but they usually have a tortillaria making fresh tortillas in the restaurant. I wish they would clean up the exterior and give the place a facelift-think more people would be drawn in.

I drive by this place all the time and have never stopped to check it out. I stopped one night after a halloween party and I was pleasantly surprised with the food. i was in the drive thru and it took a while, but the food was basically what you’d get at any mexican restaurant, but open 24⁄7. I need to go back and try their margs!

Went there for lunch on a Monday, not a soul in there at 12:30pm, kind of sad. Had the taco platter with chicken tacos, they were terrible, honestly. They had barely any meat, not even good quality shredded chicken, maybe an oz or two of it, too much sauce in the tacos, I didn’t even know tacos had sauce on the chicken, that’s a first in any Mexican restaurant I’ve been in. Beans were luke-warm and tasted like they came from a Wal-Mart can, and the yellow rice tasted really bland. The person taking the order took forever. Even the salsa I got from the bar lacked any flavor. It was really a waste of 10 $ I won’t be returning.

I went with my boyfriend and some friends for an early dinner. Never been before and I’ve driven past the big pink building for years! Rush hour has a way of making you crave tacos I guess. Place was mostly empty, surprisingly. My boyfriend and I split the mixed fajitas and got ine chicken and one beef taco. In retrospect, we went overboard. You get rice and beans and the beans are pinto(weeeeee!). Very tasty. The fajitas were very good and the cold bar was well-stocked with salsa, onions, jalapenos, cilantro, etc. I was happy and really full when I left. And the patio is wonderful and cool. Might have to drop in a few more times and bring some food home. Yum.

I go to taco cabana when I am drunk, hungover never sober. Its is very convent from the clubs and bars. Food is ok. I love there Steak Nachos. Piled high with flank steak and covered with queso. Another plus is there side bar with salsa and jalapeño etc. Beer and margaritas and last open 24 hours you cant beat that. Cons about this place is there are some shady characters(mainly homeless people) that lurk around the parking lot or inside the establishment. Bathrooms are never clean. Other than that Its a great place to chill before or after the bars or clubs. Ok food alcohol and WH hours cant beat that.

I have heard of this place for quite some time from friends. I was hanging out with fellow Unilocaler, Judy L. one night and she suggested we go. A plus is that they do open a little later than other places since we had a late dinner. Oh wait, it’s 24hrs! I ordered the Beef Nachos. It didn’t take long to make. When I saw it, it was nachos, with grounded beef, and lots of cheese on top. I literally(in my head), face palmed. I was so regretting to consume it, but I did it anyways. One night of indigestion won’t hurt, right? I did ask for the guy working behind to add some lettuce and tomatoes to it, which he kindly did. There’s a salsa bar so you could get your own salsa, lime, lemon, cilantro, etc. That’s pretty cool. Get as much as you want without bothering the employees to get it for you. Other than that, nothing amazing. Just average based on my taste.

I like taco cabana because of the nice chicken tacos and margaritas. The atmosphere is ok. The bathroom smells horrible. The condiment bar is a great ideal but I did see the homeless man picking off of the bar with dirty filthy hands yuck!!! The price is not bad, the food is good and sometimes the other patrons are entertaining. I love the place but trying to get into the parking lot is a hit or miss, the influx of homeless people sleeping and drinking out of the fountain drinks and the stank restrooms are a negative.

Maybe a full five stars maybe too much, but the 4.5 star option isn’t available, so I will round up. It’s not the absolute best Mexican food I have tasted, but it’s pretty high up there. Considering the price, the portions, and store hours, this place deserves a high score. My favorite entrée is the chicken and steak platter. It costs around $ 23, but it can easily feed two people. My wife and I can never finish it and have to box up the rest and take it home. We just have to be careful and order the black beans since the other beans have pork in them, and we don’t eat pork. The food is very fresh and tastes great. Really have no complaints about this place!

Visited the spot twice in one day. I have to say that the Mango Margarita is what made me come back. Service was mediocre and so was the food. I really liked that this was a 24⁄7 spot so you could hit it after the club. Just so you know, the margaritas stop being served at 3am

All right, the food here definitely does not warrant a 5 star rating, but it’s Taco Cabana! How many late nights(or early mornings) have ended at this place for me? Too many to count. Taco Cabana is an institution. After a long night of studying, partying, carousing, whatever, this place is great. It’s location adds to the charm. Cheshire Bridge is the epicenter of shadiness in town. Taco Cabana sits atop Cheshire Bridge Rd., ready to receive your hunger and demolish it. Taco Cabana tells no secrets. The food is ok. Many choices and ok prices. They have a nice compliment of margaritas, though I don’t suggest having one after you’ve been partying all night, no matter how appetizing they sound. It’s a 24 hour joint, so whenever you’re ready to end your night, Taco Cabana is there waiting with open arms. I’ve even been there sober once or twice, and it’s still tasty. If you live in Midtown, it’s close enough for a reasonable cab ride. Taco Cabana, it’s like a classy version of Taco Bell.

The fact that they’re open 24 hours and nestled in the hotspot of Atlanta’s strip clubs is good indication that it’s a solid 3 stars — perfect for a cheap meal, margs with the girls, and those late nights when you’re inebriated and craving Mexican but Taco Bell just won’t do it for you. I confirmed with others that it’s not just because I’m a lightweight Asian — you’re definitely getting the best bang for your buck when it comes to their margarita pitchers. Effin strong. Overall, this place is good for drunchies, margs, and casual, laid back atmosphere. The food is just like any other mediocre Mexican food… nothing that causes a burning desire to include in a Unilocal review.

I ran across this spot on a whim. While on my way home I decided to stop by. The food was your typical tex/mex food. It was very sloppy, but good. I like the fact that the place has outdoor seating and that it’s open 24⁄7. If I lived in the area, I could see myself frequenting the establishment. They also serve alcohol, which is a plus.

24 hour tacos… that’s not Taco Bell. Score… who can argue with that! This place doesn’t seem impressive unless you are stumbling drunk and in search of food. I went here recently sober and just ordered a margarita, some of my friends ordered food. The chicken quesadilla is tasty, waaaaaay too many onions though… gross. The margaritas here are strong. When I was given my drink, the drink separated into Tequila and margarita mix. One tiny cup, I was buzzing before my friend finished her quesadilla. This place is very homeless friendly as my friend got asked for food inside the restaurant. The guy was waiting by the salsa bar. Super creeper… The prices are good and the service is fast. Need to come back drunk… the people here are very entertaining late at night.

Taco Cabana– the legendary 24 hour taco joint right at Chesire/Piedmont. How can you miss the bright pink building at the corner? I used to come here all of the time, until one of my epic drinking nights ended with a pitcher of margaritas here(do NOT get a pitcher to yourself after you have been drinking!)… This place gets busy in the early morning(a great substitute for waffle house after a night out), and can get rowdy. There is some outdoor seating that is great to people watch as well(I actually witnessed two prostitutes get in a fight in the intersection once!)… This is your typical order and they call your number when its ready. The prices are decent, and the food is mediocre, I think the best think about this place is the fact it is always open. They have some sampler plates that remind you of a messy 5 buck box from tbell. One secret about this place that I wish more people knew about is the breakfast. I think that personally this is some of the better breakfast in town– the flour tortillas are awesome and go well with the meat and eggs! They also have Barbacoa, a 2 person steak/pork fajita serving for breakfast. It is about $ 16 and fills you up! They serve coke products(free refills), bottled beers, and margaritas as well. During the hectic times, there is usually a cop there on duty too to make sure it doesn’t get too outta hand…

This is the place to be after the club or for a late night craving for tacos and Mexican food. The portions are right for what you are paying. Fridays and Saturdays are packed because of the crowd you get after midnight from the club. They have a bar full of condiments such as chopped onions, green onions, mild sauce, hot sauce, lemon, parsley, and other condiments. I always get their tacos. It’s either steak, beef, or chicken. It’s $ 2/taco. Their dinner plates comes w/baked beans and rice. I like this place. They have a drive-through window also.

Atmopshere: It is definitely a fun atmosphere. There are so many different exotic people that comes in here since this place is open 24 hours. People with green mohawks to Rasta people to Chain clad babies(lol I never saw one but Im sure its only a matter of time…) The music is always loud and blasting but still fun. U can sit inside, but I highly recommend to sit outside either on the semi-outside or the actual outside patio. It is definitely a good place to chill with a big group … make sure everyone(but the driver) is drunk otherwise the noise level of this place can be overwhelming. Food: BLEH. It is definitely cheap tacos at a non deserving price. Full of fillers. Oh well, its good when u r drunk though. But a bit overprice. so Bah, Margarita: We ordered a pitcher of Lime Margarita for 18 bucks. I did not think it to be enjoyable at all. It was highly acidic and it was just not fun to drink. I went here once before but it was months ago and i remember it was much better then. I guess I would recommend their frozen margaritas over on the rocks. But it is still quite pricey. All in all this place is ok. I wouldnt go out of the way for it and if it is definitely not after midnight I wouldnt go here. There are a lot more Taco joints and Margarita joints around town that has better food and better prices. Like I said, it is good for after hour drunken moments simply because this is the only place that has food and drinks that late…

Atlanta’s lone Taco Cabana so far from the border of it’s making. HA! I love this place. I was already sad about there not being a Jack in the Box in Georgia when I moved to Atlanta in 2006 but was uplifted a bit to discover that was at least one Taco Cabana. Being that I spent much of my youth in San Antonio, TX, Taco Cabana was a constant in my eating routine. It’s not at the top of the line when you think of ‘authentic’ mexican food but it is still good and it has a few other ‘must-have’ benefits: –The margaritas really do get you drunk –It’s a cool place to hang out on a nice day due to the open patio or late night simply because it is open late –It’s affordable –The food does a good job in cleaning your damn colon –The food plus margaritas do a Very good job of cleaning your colon, sometimes, immediately I enjoy everything they serve here. I’m not a big fajita person so I usually stick to the crispy taco and enchilada plates and I love to grab a breakfast taco from time to time. I enjoy doing a little chacha’n to the latin grooves on the patio and I love the necking in the Taco Cabana parking lot that usually follows. Just in case you hadn’t been convinced that this is the place to be. ;)

I’ve come three times now and my experience has been the same. It’s okay. When I was in college in Tulsa, me and my friends were huge friends of Taco Cabana at 2am. Now, I can’t say I’d be around that area at 2am, but around lunch, it’s great. I love the tortillas, the ingredients seem fresh. The people are nice. I went the other day, around 12:30, and I was the only person in there, which scared me a little, honestly. But, the tacos were fine. I’d say it’s a good choice if you’re in that area. Definitely not a destination.
