Tech Genius

Tech Genius is more concerned about himself than anything else. Today a pickup truck lost about 40 sheets of plywood in the middle of the road right in front of Tech Genius. My coworker and I parked at Tech Genius to go help the guys get their lumber loaded, and the Tech Genius came running out to say we can’t park at his store. He made us quit helping to clear his parking lot, which stayed empty the whole time we were there.

I have been meaning to post this review for quite some time, and should have done it sooner. You can’t go wrong taking your computer here for repair. Jamin is the greatest! I have been here several times with the craziest of computer problems, and he always resolves them. Not to mention he’s just an all-​around nice guy. No price gouging here either. If you want your computer repaired at a reasonable price, and returned to you quickly, Tech Genius is the way to go!

Jamin is the best! I was referred by a friend and went in to have my computer diagnosed. He was quickly able to determine the issue and make a sound recommendation. He even told me where to go to get the most affordable parts. I was in and out in a few short hours. I am more than pleased with the service. What made this experience even better was how friendly Jamin was. He conversed with me and was very informative about the process. He’s also very knowledgeable! I love Tech Genius! The owner Jamin has saved me numerous times from technology failures. I’m horrible with technology. I had a virus on my computer where the computer went completely blue and shutdown, we unlocked my phone and made it a wifi hotspot, used the computer room to print documents, I even purchased an updated computer from him later. He’s very knowledgeable and knows his stuff. Go let him fix it for you already!

This was my first time working with Tech Genius, and I was very impressed. My laptop crashed, and required a tricky disassembly job to replace a part. The work was done very quickly once the part arrived, and for the (very reasonable) price we were quoted on arrival. The whole process was painless and straightforward, and saved us having to replace the laptop. I would recommend Tech Genius to anyone.

What an example of intellectual capital within the Atlanta downtown community. I was in town for work and need some assistance with my personal laptop which had completely stop receiving a charge. I knew I was leaving town soon and just wanted an expert opinion on my next steps. This shop is a combination of the mall Apple Store in the hood. I spent over two hours in this spot, never realizing it because he has open communal workstations, a friendly staff and Jamin repaired my issue and he also taught me how to use PayPal for the first time. You would never believe it from the outside looking in… I was also impressed how he had a stream of elders who would come in for short «how to do this lessons» on their newly purchased electronic devices.

I took in the IPhone 5s for a new screen. When I got my phone back it would not hold a charge and the screen at times went blank making it unresponsive. Approx. one month later the screen began to come off and I took the phone back. The technician, Jami, called and said the repair could not be done without additional fees. I didn’t understand why the screen they replaced was not covered to repair and wish I would have gone elsewhere to get my phone repaired initially. It hasn’t worked right since.

Super fast and smart. I spilled a WHOLE cup of coffee on my Macbook pro keyboard, and it wouldn’t turn on the next day. The guy there opened it up and did some initial checking for liquid, and then managed to do some sequence of battery and power cable unhooking and hooking to reset it and get the thing to turn on. From there we knew it was just the power button and keyboard, and he happened to have a computer we could pull parts from right there. And if that didn’t work, he knew several places to buy parts cheaper than retail to bring down cost. He was looking for any way to bring down the repair cost. In the end I got my system back up and running in 2 days. Very happy.

Geek squad told me it would take 3 weeks and 200 $. Tech Genius took 30 minutes, and did the job for less than half! Great customer service and excellent work. I 100% recommend Tech Genius over any one else in Atlanta. I needed a genius, not a geek.

During a recent computer crisis I got on Unilocal and searched for a computer repair shop in my area. Tech Genius had great reviews and was close by so I thought I would give it a shot. I called first and spoke with the owner who assured me he could help and I wouldn’t go broke in the process. I found my way to the shop which is conveniently located on Ponce near Whole Foods. I was greeted by the owner, Jamin, who held himself back from laughing at my old school laptop. He answered all my questions and told me he only needed a few hours! Since I was leaving on a cruise, I left it and agreed to pick it up upon my return. Jamin took care of everything. Great service, fair price and super convenient! Happy to have my go to computer shop in the neighborhood!

This is my new IT solution — thank goodness they are in the neighborhood!!! They repaired my laptop a few months ago and then today I had a mini crisis because my webcam wasn’t working, and I need it for a webinar I’m leading (and I really couldn’t leave my laptop). He looked at it, fixed it, and didn’t charge me. He’s such a great guy — knows his stuff and isn’t trying to nickel and dime you. His business will flourish indeed. I’m bringing in my husband’s hard drive tomorrow!!!

Let me just start off by saying that Geek Squad can suck it.
They wanted me to pay them $ 85 just for the diagnostic, and then use that as a credit toward what would probably be an insanely expensive repair. Hellz naw!
So since this place is relatively «up the street» from my house, I decided to give it a go. i told Jamin about how I tried to YouTube my way into fixing my laptop myself (it was overheating) and ended up not having any sound. He commended me for at least trying to be proactive, and since I’d diagnosed the problem myself (seeing as I caused it lol) he was nice enough to work with me on the price.
Jamin really knows his stuff! He even offered to answer some follow-​up questions if I needed it, since there was one issue he couldn’t fix cheaply. He offered some workable alternatives that are even fool-​proof for me.
They got 5 stars for affordability and customer service anyway, but Jamin gets some bonus points for not making me feel like a complete loser lol.
***NOTE*** Parking is a bitch.

Tech Genius are my heroes! Not only are they competent, fair and fast but they treat you like a neighborhood shop does in your dreams, they do lots of small stuff for free and trade the value of parts for services, i.e., they totally WORK WITH YOU. Very non-​corporate. Jamin the co-​owner is a Zen master, he’ll take the time to explain everything simply and is even, dare I say it, CARING! Great support for that bowel-​gripping feeling when your computer stops doing what you need it to do. It feels good to support this neighborhood mom and pop godsend.

Tech genius made my total computer meltdown and «blue screen of death» as painless as possible. They explained the «treatment’ options and were really transparent about costs (and affordable!) When I got my computer back, all of my files had been rescued, transferred to my new hard drive, and the machine has been running more smoothly than ever before. Not to mention it’s in a great, central location, right next to Eats and across the street from Cactus car wash. I’ll definitely be back. (Sounds like they have plans for an internet café coming soon…)

This place is so cute! I can’t wait for it to fully open! I do webdesign and for people who like cafes and other public spaces to sub for their office this looks like a large, visually stimulating place to do just that! It’s a great addition to the neighborhood and when I needed my computer memory updated, Jamin took care of it that afternoon in no time w/​a few extras added tips and advice! THANX!
