I love this place, it’s the dive bar you crave in a sea of trendy bars littered along the now extremely hipsterish ponce city market/beltline area. Super cheap alcohol, their food options range from decent to above average, decent wait staff. what more could you ask for?

This place almost got 5 stars, but their chicken was a little dry. Very disappointed. I might try it again. Everything else was on point. It wasn’t loud, service was fast.

I’ve heard a lot of hype about The Local so I gave it a try. It seems like they have a theme night just about every night(ie. Trivia and Imrpov). I like both but wasn’t very impressed with the setup. So I let that go and started to focus on the food. I had heard the wings were really good but just found them so so. They were very inconsistent and the flavor just wasn’t really up to par.

Monday karaōke is a blast. Definitely a pbr type crowd for the most part, but ‘non hipsters’ are welcome as well. Haven’t had the food but people rage about the wings. Great place to hang and throw darts and have a few beers. The local doesn’t try hard so take it for what it is an have a blast.

Let me strike whilst the iron is hot. Sitting on the patio of the local after precisely an hour we then get accused of bringing our own can of Stella(despite the fact there was 9 of us who had all ordered at least a pint or liquor drink). Barman snatches unfinished drinks… local lunatic gets involved who decides that throwing a glass is the best possible outcome. Completely ridiculous. Avoid at all costs. Dangerous.

Prices are reasonable. Wings are THEBOMB!!! the jerk fries were fantastic! My service was awesome and we were seated quickly. I didn’t notice any smoke at the time. We went on a Friday night. The korean bqq and the buffalo jerk wings were fall off the bone goodness!!!

Amazing place for what it is… a multi cultured dive bar. I suggest you go for the famous Monday night karaōke ! It gets a little packed but everyone is super friendly and the wings are the best in town(go for korean BBQ). If your expecting a romantic first date please move on but if you want some gritty drinking then this is the place.

Ate here twice last week both times I had the wings in different flavors the were PHENOMENAL!!! I’m not a guy that goes to a bar and orders wings normally but I don’t know if I could try something different at the Local. Hands down the best wings I’ve ever had!

Still an awesome place but the whole rack rib plates made this 5.5 stars. Wonder why they got rid of that item from the menu :( Very solid wings in a variety of sauces.

One of if not my favorite dive bars in Atlanta. The smoked jerk wings tossed in buffalo sauce are epic good, the tall boy PBRs are $ 3 and the staff is super friendly… what else do you need!

I agree with Michelle C. and others. The food and prices are both really good, however the service is absolutely terrible. Here’s an idea, if you are hipster and to cool/rude/arrogant/judging to be nice and at least semi-prompt serving people, then don’t work in the service industry. This place would be one of the best locations in Atlanta if it weren’t for the terrible service.

The food here is cheap and awesome! I wouldve given this pace a 4 star if it wasn’t for the service. My low star review is primarily based on the service. As for the food, you must must must try the deep fried pretzel stuffed with cheese. This was hands down the best pretzel that has ever touched my lips. Mmmm I’m getting hongry just imagining it! Also, the korean bulgogi tater tots are amazing as well. The bulgogi goes with the tater tots in a strange but complimenting way. Those two are mist trys. Now for the service portion. The service started off well and ended poorly. I came here with 5 of my friends and asked the waitress to split the tab evenly between us. We signed our card slips and walked outside to walk to our next venture, MJQ. As we were standing outside, our waitress comes outside and asks us if the service was not good? Puzzled, we said no we thought the service was just fine? Then she goes on to state that if the service was good then why did one person fail to tip her? At this point we are all looking around at each other confused. She then proceeds to say the name of the person who didn’t leave her tip. It turns out that person left tip in cash and not on her card. Honestly, I have never encountered that type of service in my existence. It was the act of her having to come ask us why we didn’t leave her tip that bothered me. I have worked in the service industry as well so I understand what it feels like to get jipped. However, I find it very unprofessional for anyone to follow a customer outside to confront them about«failing to pay tip.» Hopefully this experience did not negatively effect my view on the restaurant bc the food here is definitely worth going back for. However, the reality of the situation is that your overall experience, despite the quality of food, can ruin your view of the whole restaurant.

This place is a dive. I love dives. Especially when they have smoked chicken wings that fall off the bone. No really, get the wings! The wings alone are worth 5 stars! You can get 10 wings for $ 10. Lots of beer options too. The décor is like any other bar. Though they do offer seating out front which is usually occupied by the smokers. I like that you can play darts and Buckhunter too. I usually come here when I want a cheap drink and I“m in the Ponce part of town. Never found a friend who didn’t like joining me here. Side note: hope you don’t mind hipsters because they love this place.

Review is only for the food. I had previously gone to The Local 5⁄6 times for an early dinner before a show. The food was always great, smoked wings, smoked big spare ribs, brisket, really tasty good filling food. Last week a few buddy’s and I show up for an early dinner between shows. The menu has changed drastically, now the really good spareribs are no more. No smoked chicken wings, only sliders ‘ After seeing the menu half our party left, I and 2 others stayed because we were pushed for time .The sliders were really bad and the brisket sliders were horrible… It’s a shame they had really good food and got rid of it all. Tables used to be filled previously but this time we were the only ones there. After talking with everyone after the show we all said we would never be back.

I am nostalgic for this dive bar and their cheap drinks and great mix of hipsters and college students. I don’t care if they changed up their menu, they will always be a good mix of decent people, bar flies and that old weird south.

me and a friend of mine were in the area a bit late at night and wanted to grab some food before going to the clermont lounge. the local is pretty much right next to it and this is how we ended up here. i think it was stand up comedy night, and i say i think because we sat outside where we couldnt listen to whatever was going on inside and there was no music outside. our server took a little bit but he showed up with a friendly attitude and a couple of menus. i got a few sliders which were just ok. tiny and not slider priced. but whatever, when youre hungry you gotto do what you gotto do.

Yaaaaas. My tab here was $ 20.50 Smokey as F. Loud as hell. Diverse as anything. Chick(s) puking. Dudes dancing. Shit karaōke. And everything in between. Worth every penny and minute. I had a fucking blast. Excuse my French.

The first time I visited The Local, I loved it. It stood out in my mind for weeks yet I couldn’t pinpoint what was so great. Until Sister Louisa’s opened, this was my favorite Atlanta bar. What’s so awesome about The Local? * The vibe. It’s laid back; you’ll immediately feel relaxed and comfortable. * The servers. Whether at the bar or at a table, your server will be friendly and competent. * They used to have free popcorn(until someone decided to destroy the machine). * No smoking. They finally stopped allowing smoking. What else do they have? * Food. Hmm… it’s not bad, but I don’t love it. This isn’t a gastropub, but the food is probably above average for a bar. I’ve eaten there many times, and quality is very consistent. Unless you’re dieting or a foodie, your needs will be met. So, this description might not make The Local sound awesome, but it is. The whole is far better than any individual piece. Every time I visit, I leave with a renewed love for the place. Oh, and bring friends. This is one of the best bars for groups.

Best wings in Atlanta!(Buffalo jerk) Hands down! Great spot to pregame or drink all night with friends and smoking is outside only. It has a very relaxing atmosphere and picks up Fridays and Saturday nights and has a few arcade games a foosball table and darts. Good drinks and chill people, and they have spicy hot boiled peanuts.
