Thunderbolt Power Yoga

Great yoga studio! I had never tried hot yoga before trying Thunderbolt, and decided to check it out, as the studio is on Classpass. I was impressed by how nice the instructors are, and the studio is very chicly decorated as well. There are several variations of classes, and the music flow classes are my personal favorite. The lavender towels at the end of class are life-​changing, and compared to slower yoga classes, you actually get a nice bit of cardio in Thunderbolt’s classes.
One thing to note, the instructor has not been in the front doing the moves at either of the classes I have attended. If you’re fairly new to yoga, I would recommend sitting in the back of the class so you can mimic other student’s moves if you get lost.
I would also recommend bringing your own towel and mat. You will get sweaty, and the studio charges a $ 2 rental fee for towels (your first visit is free).
Overall, I highly recommend this studio.

I have been to yoga all over Atlanta (thanks in part to ClassPass) and from the very first time I went to Thunderbolt, I was hooked! This is by far my favorite yoga studio and I get really excited to come practice here (I have a package now in addition to ClassPass– it’s that good!)
The studio itself is cute and clean. Nice selection of trendy and functional retail out in the front by the check in desk. The inside of the studio is really pretty. I love the teal walls and the lights. I also like that there are no mirrors inside the studio. I find that it helps my concentration. The studio is mopped after each class to keep it fresh and clean for the next group.
The instructors here are fantastic. You can tell that they love what they do. They know their stuff (this is Baptiste style yoga) and they personalize the experience. They always give you fun, playful ways to challenge yourself. I have done things here that I would not have known I could do. They also provide modifications so that those newer to yoga have some great options too. No matter your level of experience, you will have a fun and challenging workout. There are several options for class types, so you can always mix it up if you need a fresh take on your practice. Classes are pretty warm– around 85 degrees or so, and they tend to be reasonably full so it stays quite warm. The cold lavender towels handed out at the end of each class are heavenly!
I have had nothing but great experiences here. From the people who work here to the classes and the studio itself, it is simply a wonderful experience. I’m happy to be a part of the community at Thunderbolt!

Not sure if this spot is new, but I had a lot of trouble finding good yoga in Atlanta. Too many places treat it as though it’s just like any other exercise, missing conversations about the integrity of getting into poses in favor of speeding along quickly. I got the sense that Thunderbolt’s teachers were reasonably well-​educated in their yoga history/​tradition, but not wildly so. There *was* unfortunately still too much about moving through poses and not enough on managing breath, alignment etc, but the power class I attended was solidly above average.

The studio is cute and the instructors are nice but it didn’t feel like baptiste yoga and the room was more 70 – 75 degrees than 88 – 92 degrees. I love yoga ad actually found I didn’t go back or want to really but I practice at another studio outside of ATL and admittedly my studio is hard to beat.

I’m glad I waited to write this review. I used to go to the ashtanga studio in Buckhead Balance Studio but the energy changed and I found myself yoga-​homeless. Thunderbolt yoga practices warm Baptiste-​style yoga. As an ashtanga practitioner, you will recognize the set poses quite easily. It’s only an hour in length unless you go to the advanced Tuesday 9:30 Class which is an advanced 75min flow.
The studio is clean (which is super important in a warm or hot yoga studio). Towels, mats, fluids can be rented and bought. There’s also a small retail space.
There is a shower but it’s BYOT (bring your own towel). People seem to donate stolen hotel toiletries for anyone who needs them.
The teachers are all sweet, super cute, and on the young side (but don’t underestimate them).
They just had they’re year anniversary, so I guess it’s mine too. If you are looking for a place to lay your mat, give Thunderbolt a try. You’ve got nothing to lose, but a ton of sweat!

PS, I would definitely recommend going a little earlier on Saturday mornings. The class gets packed.

I love this Yoga studio! Great teachers, peaceful environment and wonderful classes. I am a true beginner but in the short time that I’ve been taking classes (Basic Power and Gentle Flow), I have gotten so much stronger. I can even hold a «down dog» without collapsing into a child’s pose after 5 seconds. When I leave after class I feel so happy and refreshed. This has been a great way to relieve stress after my busy work day. Happy I found this studio! Keep up the excellent work Thunderbolt!

Thunderbolt Power Yoga’s great teachers, clean studio, and tough classes make for the perfect young, fresh yoga experience. The Music Power Flow classes are my favorite. The Baptiste style yoga feels more commercial and fresh versus the organic-​feeling Balance Yoga down the street. My new favorite yoga studio in Atlanta, I always walk out feeling physically and mentally refreshed!
