Huge fan of Vickery’s. Fave in Glenwood Park. Love the Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad– my favorite salad EVER!(and I don’t like salads normally!)

Had a late lunch with some friends since we were in town for the weekend earlier today. I came here a few times before and enjoyed it every time! My friends are both fans of the southern fried chicken and I ordered the catfish sandwich for the first time, which I enjoyed as well. Only thing I felt like they could’ve went light on is the tatar sauce– It seemed like they just slabbed a whole lot on there, so ask them to go easy on that if you decide to order the catfish. The waitress and host were both very nice and quick, granted it was a rainy day so there wasn’t a wait– thank God! Pretty good spot to get your southern fix if you ask me :)

I’ve been visiting this Vickery’s for years. It’s close by and the food is always tasty. My favorite appetizer is the fried green tomato caprese stack; it’s so, so good. It’s also a nice size for sharing. I also love the hand cut fries with pepper gravy, and the lemon pepper wings are a winner. For a meal I really like the pulled pork bbq sandwich served on cornbread or the crispy fried egg sandwich. My favorite side item is the collard greens; they aren’t mushy at all. And the fried okra is pretty good too. My favorite dessert is the bread pudding; the sauce is really good. I usually order at the bar — to either dine in or go. The service is a bit odd. It seems like the bar staff can only focus on 1 thing at a time. If you come in and they are stocking garnishes, they won’t even look at you until they’re done and look around and notice a new person sitting there. It’s as if they forget people are there. They are always nice; just not the best. There’s a dedicated bunch of regulars who hang out here, and they can fill the bar area. If you know you’re going to order on a heavy regular night(trivia and Friday nights are the worst I’ve seen), then call in your order so that it’s ready when you get there or eat on the dining side. Also, there is the option of sidewalk seating, but it can get smoky. Parking can be difficult in this area although there are enough spaces. It’s just a matter of finding one — whether that be on the street or in the lot behind the shopping center. Unilocal 100 #54

We came in late Friday night. Kinda empty in there but that didn’t matter. We got the fried green tomatoes, the Mac and cheese fritters(awesome sauce) the crab cake sandwich and the chicken and chorizo sausage quesadilla. All good. Also good service. Reasonably priced.

First review– The BURGER! It’s like a Jesus burger. Melted cheese quaint fries and good service. This must be there lucky 13 because every time I walk in someone has the burger! But this time 9÷7÷15 the experience was different… Maybe it’s because the bar was set my first visit. On this visit I was compelled to grab a bite on this Labor Day weekend. Living within walking distance I decided to order for takeout and go and chill by the pool. Now I normally ask and quickly get reminded to toast or grill the inside of the bun(for integrity purposes) but I assume from the server that this is Consistent. So I just placed the order in good faith. I then throw on top of that a crab cake– to set things off and cover my a$$- but low and behold the order came out different. The crab cake was deep fried — a «no no» in the bayou crab world. The liquid sauce that accompanied this deep fried UFO was just that liquid and tasteless! I don’t believe this is something that they create in the kitchen. I believe it was fresh out the can or 96oz bottle. Very non– complimentary to the deep fried disc that looked like used hockey puck. Now I say this with all sincerity. I love Vickery’s. But to get a to go items with no napkins, no water(that was ordered) and a hockey puck is a lesson to all those who like to dine. When a customer comes in to the doctors office, 99% of the time they leave with a diagnosis and prescription that makes them feel better. The restaurants that we adore should stay as consistent as the medical field. Run a diagnosis from the kitchen to the counter. Choice select food consumables — and then serve just like the customers expects them to be served. Serve to add a positive experience. Serve to compliment the vision of food passion. Don’t half step when a customer walks in and tells you what they need and they walk out with less than. Serve from the heart and they will follow. You can’t serve from the heart items that you can get 6 blocks away that taste better. 3 stars can naturally turn to 5 or more when you serve with a purpose. That’s all for now…

My parents were in from out of town and wanted to take them somewhere with good food and not too much(if any) of a wait. Remembered Vickery’s was nearby and decided to give it a chance. Great decision! We had a great server and even more tasty meals! We ordered the Steak Oscar, Shrimp & Grits and a half rack of ribs. All cooked and seasoned to satisfaction. While I hate to tell people about some of my favorite places because I don’t want them to get overcrowded(however I want them to survive) if in the EAV area, know that you won’t be disappointed!

They have several TV’s in there, and the bar was really comfortable. I like the venue, and where it’s located plus I really enjoyed the ground turkey burger I had here. Would definitely come here again.

Stopped by for the first time with a few co-workers. I really enjoyed the food and the 2 deserts we shared. Very clean all around and the staff was very friendly. I will certainly return. I hear they also have a great breakfast/brunch menu…

I love this place, the sandwiches are great, the drinks are great. That day I had the Castro sandwich. Smoke pork, ham, pickle and fontina cheese. Just delicious. A bag of salt and pepper chips come on the side. I’ve also had Boss Hogg which is chopped BBQ pork and cole slaw on a sandwich. Very delicious! You gotta try the Jack & Coke slush. The main I love about this place is that the prices are low! Good, quick, cheap spot to to visit. Even late at night.

Will go here over and over again for the southwestern chicken salad. They also have very good fries. Parking is tough.

Great neighborhood restaurant! I walked by the place for about 6 months before deciding to try it, what a mistake. Pretty large menu with a nice variety of offerings. The salads were unique and loaded with fresh ingredients. This is definitely my new go to place in the hood.

We ended up at Vickery’s by complete happenstance. As in that’s what happens when you don’t make a reservation for the indie trendy spot down the block. According to our server, who had boatloads of time to chat with us because the place was not at all busy, Vickery’s was in a different neighborhood for about 30 years and then moved to its current location in a newly constructed shop/dine/dwell development. The restaurant is quite large and divided up into two separate dining and bar spaces. Even the patios are separate. So I feel like this review might only be for the dining area since I didn’t venture into the bar. I had the Southern Fried Chicken Dinner($ 16), a boneless chicken breast with mac ‘n cheese, fried okra and a biscuit on the side(I was kindly allowed to substitute out the collard greens that normally come with the meal for the fried okra). The fried chicken was okay, I’ve had better and I’ve had worse. Neither the fried okra or the biscuit seemed like they were homemade and the mac ‘n cheese was not very creamy like I like it. It was just a dull and disappointing meal. I can’t recall what Mr. P ate but he wasn’t raving about it. Vickery’s is definitely a convenient and reasonably priced neighborhood bar and grill. Maybe the bar experience is much better than the dining room.

Full bar. Good beer selection. The food is better than you might expect. The chef really knows how to cook. Great neighbor restaurant/bar with lots of friendly locals.

This is our neighborhood favorite(our daughter begs to go there because the park is close for play!) The staff gets to know you(and your kids and they are wonderful). The food isn’t going to blow your taste buds, but is always consistent and is great for a quick neighborhood dinner!

Really happy to have come here. Bartenders were super nice and an ample selection if beers on tap. I had the Cuban Chili to start and after one bite I went online to find a recipe. Amazing! I ordered the special(i.e., «shot the spesh.») which was chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, broccoli, and gravy. Man-sized portion and I want more. It was THAT good. Reasonably priced. Located in a great section of Atlanta with excellent restaurants and residential. My go to place, when heading North from airport, from now on. Very convenient from downtown, midtown, and perimeter.

First, let me say that Kris was our server and, as good as our food was, I’m pretty sure he made the dining experience even better. I’m not sure that I can say, hands down, that this is the most delicious place on earth. My sister ordered the mac’n’cheese fritters which were good, but not spectacular. My friend offered the ribs, with macaroni & cheese. It was also good, but not worth paying another restaurant to get to. The entrees that knocked out socks off and made us wish we could leave and come back and try the entire experience all over again: the low country seafood sauté and grits and the 5 spice crusted salmon with candied shiitake and wasabi mash. Holy cow. I’ll admit that my salmon was VERY cooked, a bit too much so for my liking, but everything was so good that I didn’t think another thing of it. Those candied mushrooms? I don’t understand them, I don’t, truthfully, know exactly what they are — sesame? — except delicious. I could eat them again and again. I, in fact, wish I could eat them again this moment. The wasabi potatoes were very nicely flavored, although, like every other serving of them I’ve ever had, you cannot at all taste the wasabi. We didn’t even get around to dessert, but you’d better believe I’m going back in short order to keep trying other deliciousness on the menu. Go check it out — sit in Kris’ section. He’s a delight, and he won’t steer you wrong, menu-wise.
