We were in town for a basketball game and had Wrecking Bar suggested to us by multiple people. We went on the early side, around 6:30 and had very little wait. Enjoyed the wait at the bar and tried two delicious of their homebrews! We loved the atmosphere; it looked almost like a castle. We had the corn pups and pimento cheese fritters as appetizers — both were delicious. My husband has the pastrami which was tender, succulent and full of flavor! I had the butternut squash and brussel sprout barley which was very flavorful and enough food for two full meals! Wish we lived in Atlanta as we would come back all the time :)

The food is fantastic and the beer is even better! Unfortunately, their event planner, Matt, is unpleasant and hard to work with. Highly recommended for smaller dinners and drinks, but don’t depend on them for large groups or parties.

This was one of the best meals I’ve had in several months. I’m a foodie and chase all the new restaurant openings and anything that is on a ‘best of’ list. Somehow I had overlooked Wrecking Bar and I am so glad I gave it a try recently. I was with a group of 6 on a Tuesday. We arrived early and the place was packed. As I said, the food was excellent! The service was exceptional. We each tried a beer brewed in-house and I highly recommend you try any of their darker beers — even if you don’t usually drink dark beer. I had the North Carolina Trout(with a side of Butternut & Brussels Sprouts). Crispy trout pan seared, Sapelo Island clams, cannellini bean stew, celery, escarole, WB Mexican chorizo. This dish was perfect for a cold Georgia evening. The interior is warm and cozy. For a group of 6 we were very comfortable in an oversized wood booth.

I came here with my daughter and we had the fondue which was great. I ordered a Wee Heavy and an IPA which were great. I then ordered the pastrami and my daughter ordered the burger and both loved our meals.

My family and I ate here in August of 2015. With so many restaurant choices in the city, when we asked for recommendations, we received too numerous answers so we let Unilocal choose for us. We had just taken the kids to the Fernbank Museum of Natural History and were nearby. Friends of mine had suggested to at least have one experience in the 5 Points neighborhood. From the get-go, the Wrecking Bar was the combination of everything we like: house-brewed artisan beer, dynamic and diverse menu choices and a focus on as much local resource as possible with an emphasis on the highest-quality product. We ordered several starters from the cheese plate, a house-made charcuterie plate, Wrecking fries, and fondue. All were fantastic and I really enjoyed the subtle extras like the pickled strawberries. In addition, we split the NC trout and the Wrecking Bar Burger. As a Michigan man, we take our fish seriously and that trout was so spectacular, I almost ordered a second one. The burger was no joke either and quite possibly the best burger I had eaten in the three weeks I was in Georgia. Overall, the meal was extraordinary and worth every penny. I opted to have some of the cold beer. I had an IPA and a Porter and both were notable. However, take a moment to peruse the bourbon, whiskey and scotch menu. Probably one of the best selections in the entire U.S. You can have the old standbys in Jim Beam and Jack Daniels, but open up the wallet and venture out and try a Colonel Taylor, Macallan Rare or the Johnny Walker Blue because you’re worth it. Get crazy and try one of the Japanese scotches. With serious offerings like this, I’m sure somewhere in the owner’s stash there is a bottle of Pappy Family Reserve 23 year or an Old Rip. We enjoyed our meal and stroll through the 5 Points. Atlanta, we’ll be back next year.

We shared the Farmhouse Cheese Plate between three. The cheeses were tasty, but the spiced nuts were not the best. For my entrée, I had the Butternut & Brussel Sprout Barley. This was an excellent vegetarian dish. Very tasty, hearty, and an great portion. I would definitely order this again, except perhaps without the seitan add-on, which was an additional $ 4. The beers were delicious, and the restaurant has a nice cozy feel. A good experience.

I’ve been to Wrecking Bar a total of three times now. After being disappointed with some of the food and hating the expensive cocktail I got during my initial visit here, I’m so glad I decided to give them another chance! The food was much better the past couple times I’ve been, and I made sure to just get beer instead of a cocktail. This is a cool place to grab a beer, and it’s walking distance from Little 5 Points. Friendly service, too! They do regularly change their beer and food menus. I like this because it means there’s always something new to try, but it also means if you find something you love, chances are it might not be there the next time you visit. I also really love that you have the option of two different sizes when you order a beer. I like to get the smaller sizes(4oz), so I can try more types of beer! Sometimes they have some pretty unique food items. I decided to be a little adventurous and ordered the Crispy Veal Brains($ 8) once. It was actually a tasty dish. Worth trying if it doesn’t weird you out. During my most recent visit, we just went for drinks and shared the Wreck Fries($ 6). The fries were good, and came with four different sauces: homemade ketchup, horseradish, spicy mayo, and green goddess sauce. The green goddess sauce was really yummy and ended up being our favorite.

I have been to Wrecking Bar twice now. Both times were for Meetup group events. The first time, we were a very large group and they put us and another large group in another room where they do some of their brewing. Honestly, the room was on the cold side and had no atmosphere whatsoever. I wonder why they use it for dining at all. We were there for Valentine’s Day and we had a special menu. Luckily, the burger was on it cause that is what I wanted. I had heard so many good things. Unfortunately, I wasn’t a big fan of the burger in the end. I thought it was just average. When another Meetup event was being hosted here, I was hesitant but decided to give them another shot. This time was not a big group event. It was only 4 of us. So we went like regular folks and waited. And boy what a wait it was. I have no idea why this place is so popular. It was crammed everywhere you went with people waiting for a table. Overall, our wait was about 45min-1 hour. I ordered the burger again with bacon and cheddar. I also added corn pops — three corn dog pops: WB Cheddarwurst, corn bread battered & fried, curry catsup & yellow mustard. The burger was again average. The corn dog pops looked a bit different than expected and were also average. Well, I have given them two fair shots. Perhaps I just need to avoid the burger. Cause obviously people like this place.

As we sat down my mother sat in a puddle of grease on the seat. Took FORVER to get out drinks. Our appetizer came before our drinks even. Took forever it seems to get out food. This seems like an ok date night spot but not a place I would visit after church. Didn’t have many options on the menu that appealed to me but others at my table all found something they liked. Our server was really friendly. She did a great job. Maybe the kitchen staff could take a hint. I might consider going back.

I cannot wait to go back to ATL to go here again. Many friends have been here and they wetter right. Wrecking bar is a must. I loved the coffee stout but there were several beers on the list that looked very appealing to me. Supposedly the Moscow Mule is awesome here too and I would love to try that on my next visit if I can tear myself away from the beers. So many special beers plus the standard styles and all are Wrecking Bar brewed. And the food… the food was outstanding! I cannot recommend this place enough!

If a large group of people, 13 to be exact, call well in advance to reserve tables, you would think a restaurant would prepare an area to accommodate such a large group. You can understand my disappointment when our group was split up between 3 tables throughout the dinning room. It made for an isolated team outing. Especially since this location had a few booths that could accommodate larger groups. Aside from the seating disappointment, the food was just as unfulfilling. My colleagues ordered the Crispy Veal Brains and french fries as appetizers. Now. You know the only time I will ever eat brains is when hell has come upon the earth and I am a walking zombie. So I can not tell you how it tasted, though the fellas said it was good. Pass. The fries however were just fine. My Red Snapper entrée seemed like a hodgepodge of leftovers thrown together in a bowl. The snapper had a fatty top skin, which I peeled back and off of the fish. Sitting in a broth of what tasted like chicken, but now that I recall was smoked ham hock and fish broth. What a combination! It was not appealing at all. The clams were so small, I can’t even tell you what they tasted like. Probably ham hocks and fish stock. Mushrooms were lost in the mix, while the bok choy was overcooked and watery. There was perhaps a tablespoon of rice on the bottom of the bowl. Our table decided to order both the Sweet Potato pie and Apple Crumble. Do not order the sweet potato pie and think that is what you will taste. First, the pie itself wasn’t even the standard reddish brown. Did they use golden yams? Second, it was not sweet at all. The Apple Crumple? Dear heaven please stop making this dessert. The single bite I sampled was doused in nutmeg. It overpowered the dessert and completely ruined the flavor. The only item I thoroughly enjoyed was Le Papillon Witbier. I love beer, but that is not enough to make me return. Lucky for them this is a historical building, otherwise I’d recommend someone take a real wrecking ball and start over!

Great find! We came here at an odd time on a Sunday afternoon, in between typical meal times, which I’m sure accounts for the odd atmosphere we encountered. We stood around a while before anyone greeted us, even though it wasn’t busy. First, I’ll say, best pastrami sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. Totally unexpected. My husband tried to steal my entire sandwich, but I wasn’t having it. His burger was good too, but not quite on the same level. And a little small I think for him. Our sides were awesome as well– roasted heirloom carrots and fries. I also loved that they serve half pints of draft beer here. «Why on God’s green earth would anyone want LESS beer?» you ask? Well I’m little, and I like to try different things, and I can’t fit more than 2 pints in my belly with a meal without wanting to die. This way, you get to try a bunch of awesome brews without being miserable. Bonus! I look forward to trying other menu items in the future at a normal time when we are looking to seriously get down on some grub. –1 star because of the slightly awkward atmosphere(delayed and dismissive greeting by the hostess, and then 10 – 12 young dudes who seemed to know the bartender well crowded around us at the bar while the rest of the area was completely empty & just kind of eyeballed us through the whole meal, like we had stolen their barstools. Clearly no real fault of the restaurant, but maybe could have been handled a little better by the bartender). I’m sure it was a one-off.

I’ll update once I eat something there. We went after we ate somewhere else to have a beer, which they brew on prem. Lower level of an old house you enter in the side. Sorta like a dungeon vibe with the stone walls. Small but cozy bar. They also have table but we grabbed a couple of stools. Had three full glasses between us and the bartender and perhaps the owner made sure we got to sample almost everything. Quality customer/staff interaction. Beer was good as well. If the food is good I’ll add a star. Should be able to circle back for a meal very soon.

Dang, just realized I’ve never written a review! I’ve been here many times and always had a great experience. My review may be a bit colored by the fact that since Terry has been the executive chef, the food has been AMAZING — mostly because Terry sources from local farms, respects the food he and his staff cooks and creates a great experience for the customer. I’ve gotten many items here and while I can’t remember all of them, I definitely remember their burgers, fries and bone marrow appetizers. Everything you order is made to perfection and sourced from local farms who care about how the animals are raised. I’ve also come here for a vegan dinner and they did not«cop-out» when it came to vegan food, the chefs paid just as much attention as they would to a meat centric meal. Be prepared for valet parking or very limited parking in the surrounding neighborhoods but also be prepared for a great meal prepared by people who care… about our community, our livestock, our planet and the food they put out.

I came here when I was with a bunch of colleagues while in Atlanta for a business trip. Its a really cool place! Located in a beautiful Victorian house, the décor is old world meets modern and vintage all rolled into one. I loved how the menus were very«old school» pub foods with an interesting and creative twist. As for drinks… wow! Everyone who got a cocktail or beer loved their beverages! The beer list is huge, and even though I am not a huge beer drinker, the server was happy to help me check out the menu to pick something I would enjoy. I ended up with a cocktail, but I appreciated the willingness to help! I had the Shadowhand Sour. I loved the creative play on a traditional whiskey sour with the sweet and tart flavors mixed in! As for food, the table shared the Kale Ale Cheese Fondue which was really yummy! We also had the corn pups, which I thought were awesome(I have a weakness for corn dogs and anything like them), I thought it was creative to serve with mustard and curry ketchup. Definitely something to check out! My meal, I had the filet of fish. It was delicious, perfectly fried without drying the fish, and the toppings and really elevated the sandwich. My coworker got the House pastrami sandwich, which she thought was great, and the others ordered the pickled shrimp salad, beer and cheese soup, burger, and filet of fish sandwich. Overall, the food was delicious. A little on the heavier side, but that should be expected when going to a pub. Everyone really enjoyed their meal! If I am in Atlanta again, I would definitely come back!

This is a really nice pub, located in a beautiful Victorian style house. They brew their own beers including the delicious ginger beer(non alcoholic) I had! They are vegan friendly and have a weekly special menu on Veggie Tuesdays with extra vegetarian or vegan options. On the daily, I believe there is only one vegan option, the vegan Korean. I definitely want to go back and try this! Fancy I flew into ATL from LA on business on a Tuesday so that I can enjoy their Veggie Tuesday menu. I got the beet melt which had ground beets, Pure Abundance cashew cheese(Georgia’s very own local vegan cheese business!), WB farm frill mustards, Russian dressing, and sourdough bread. I also got the roasted squash soup with GA truffle shavings on top. This was very flavorful. It had some coconut flavor, reminiscent of a yellow coconut curry. I love that they support small businesses and try to source locally! My food came with fries. Before eating them, I asked to make sure it was not fried in the same oil as meat. It turned out that it was so they gave me a side salad to compensate. The staff apologized numerous times. The service was excellent! They always asked if everything was okay and made sure my glass of ginger beer was never empty. Free refills, yippee! I enjoyed sitting at the bar. The rest of the seating areas would also be good. Feels like you’re in a cellar(The pub was actually built in the basement of the house.), cool vibes. These would be an excellent spot for any occasion(birthdays, reunions, dates, &c.). Parking: Valet is free, be sure to tip them!

I have sweet spot for Wrecking Bar Brewpub and they don’t need my review. I just kind love this place having been a loyal fan since its opening in 2011. The food is just damn good and consistent. You don’t need Palookaville in Decatur just get the corn pups at Wrecking. Now they have been a little iffy with the burger, changing it and experimenting with Chinese mustard… etc.etc. We don’t need this. However, we do like the farm fresh vegetables, the fries and the Arctic Char. Please bring the Arctic Char back. We love the Trout. Anything with a sausage or an egg get! I just hope they continue to be consistent with their food and beer. I recommend this a go to spot for all beer enthusiasts visiting Atlanta. Georgia lawmakers we should be able to growler their beer. I’ve seen Porter fall off with their food — specifically with their burger and now I spend all my beer time at the Wrecking Bar. They just choose their staff and their management well. I’ve never had a bad experience with service. I wish Wrecking bar could trade places with 5 seasons and have the patio and the views. Why does the horrible beer at 5 seasons get the best location? Why does Park Tavern get Piedmont Park? These places serve subpar beer. I need Wrecking bar to open up a proper beer garden. One like Zeitgeist San Francisco. Please! The one you are trying to make in the makeshift barn for football season is not where I want to drink beer. I will sit on the patio facing the valet stand and endure the periodic whiffs of sewer waste. I will because I love you guys. We want you to take this GREAT beer to the next level and make Atlanta proud.

The Wrecking Bar Brewpub opened Summer 2011 in the basement of the old Wrecking Bar Architectural Antiques store. The brewpub is located in an old Victorian-style house built circa 1900. The upper level of the house, named«The Marianna» after the original homeowner’s daughter, is now used as event space. The brewpub has become a very popular bar in the Little Five Points and Inman Park area. I don’t really drink, so this review is based on the food I’ve tried, the atmosphere, and the service. This is a lively hangout spot with several areas of seating, both indoors and out. The environment is communal, friendly, and festive. The restaurant brews its own beer on-site. Most of the action happens underground, away from the restaurant and bar. However, there are two big fermenters located in the beer garden. The beer garden is its own separate covered and enclosed space, perfect for large groups and parties. It features an additional standalone bar and extra seating(mostly long picnic tables), TVs, and darts. Free brewery tours are available Saturdays at 4:30pm. The restaurant serves more than just typical«pub grub.» Most ingredients are regionally sourced. The menu lists the many farms and food purveyors where the ingredients come from. You’ll find a lot of comfort foods and Southern influence on the menu. Examples include chicken liver pâté, chicken fried rabbit wings, chicken and dumplings, and pork and beans. Expect to spend about $ 5 – 8 per appetizer and between $ 10 – 20 on main entrees. I’ve tried several dishes. They include: * Beer Boiled Peanuts — boiled using Victor IPA, WB chili spice blend * Kale Ale Cheese Fondue — Bernhard’s Bavarian pretzel, aged Gouda and sharp cheddar fondue, kale, local veggies * Koln Malt Crusted NC Trout — pan-roasted, local butternut squash & Brussels sprout hash, WB spiced GA pecans and brown butter * Pulled Chicken Salad — local organic arugula, radish, pulled pasture poultry, quinoa, marinated shiitake, GA apple, mustard vin. * Wrecking Bar Burger — Moonshine Meats grass-fed beef, beer cheese, caramelized onions, pickled jalapenos * Pulled Pork — slow-smoked, WB barrel-aged North Carolina BBQ sauce, kale slaw and homemade pickles (WB stands for Wrecking Bar) The Beer Boiled Peanuts are served in a black cast-iron skillet. The seasoning makes some peanuts way salty, but overall, it’s good stuff. The giant Bavarian pretzel on the fondue plate is dense, doughy, and delicious. The veggies consist of things like broccoli and carrots. The Trout is very good — fresh and cooked to near perfection. The butternut squash are quite tasty and the bits of pecans add a nice crunch. The Chicken Salad is so-so. It’s light and refreshing, so a good option for those looking to eat healthy. It, however, is not very filling so you may want to look elsewhere on the menu if you’re really hungry. The Wrecking Bar Burger uses Holeman & Finch buns with sesame seeds. The grass-fed beef patty is thick and hearty, cooked to order. It can also be oddly shaped. The beer cheese is served in a melted clump plopped over the center of patty, so it’s not like a standard slice of cheese. The pickled jalapenos are a nice touch. The burger is served with a side of Wrecking Bar’s fries, which many people rave about. They’re pretty good. Soft, crispy, and not too greasy. The Pulled Pork is alright. It tastes a little salty and has that unique Carolina BBQ vinegar finish. Like the burger, it also comes with an H&F toasted bun and a generous side of fries. The kale slaw is crisp and crunchy and made with just the right amount of mayo(not excessive). Service is terrific, from the valet guys to the bartenders to the servers. The staff I’ve encountered have been cool and affable. Valet is complimentary. When the valet lot is full(or if you just don’t want to valet), free street parking is available along Austin Ave, which is adjacent to the front entrance of the brewpub.

I’m kind of in shock I haven’t reviewed Wrecking Bar yet because I have been here so many times I consider moving in. Actually I’ve figured I’ll con someone into marrying me one day and that wedding will happen here because HOWCOOLIS A BREWPUBIN A DECADEOLDHISTORICHOUSE?! I love their beer so much. Be sure to be hanging around at 4:30 on a Saturday so you can get a tour of the brewing aspect of the house. Even if you’ve heard over and over how to make beer, you get a pretty cool historical lesson on the house and may even get to taste beer out of the fermenter. Plus it’s cool to see how it’s done on a smaller level than a brewery that straight up distributes. I have never had a beer I didn’t love here. Since the options never tend to be the same, I can’t really tell you what to drink, but their IPAs are awesome and you should probably try whatever cask beer they have. The food is also amazing, though I haven’t had too much. I had the BBQ pork sandwich once which was really good. Their fries are great, and come with 3 good dipping sauces that my friend and I could not agree on a ranking of. I don’t typically have food when here, which I really need to change. The entrees are higher prices but they’ve got a lot of sandwich options so all budgets are covered. Only thing I dislike is that you have to valet any time of day now. You can of course park down the street but ugh unnecessary valet. At least the guys they have are super nice. Fingers crossed I’ll be moving into the area soon, so I’ll be here even more.

Veggie-Tuesday!
