Great food, good service… I wished they were a bit faster though. The place is small… don’t think the food will not be good by looking at the place. Seems like the team is very passionate. Will definitely be there again anytime we are the beaches area.

Found this little spot and how delicious! Edwardo was extremely pleasant and helpful. Service with a smile! We ordered the Macho and it was ALL that it’s hyped up to be! The fish was so fresh, shrimp and a few calamari. We will be back on our next visit to Jax!

I have a good mental note and collection of Peruvian restaurants I have been. I swear every new city I go, I’ll do a Peruvian food search. Honestly, I feel like I should have stayed at another place that caught my eye that was a third of the price. The worse part of our experience here was the service of getting our food. I guess it was coming straight from Peru because it took at least an hour for our food to come. Peruvian food has stand out flavor. We ordered fried yuca with huancaina sauce, Lomo saltado, and tacu tacu with mixed seafood. It was ok, but not as stand out as other places. The chicha Morada can be comparable to black cherry cool aid with cloves of some sort. The passion fruit was ok. Our server was nice, but got the price, quality, and length of time we waited, it wasn’t all that.

Excellent authentic Peruvian food. The service was also wonderful. Eduardo and Colton were so great. The food is definitely the best part of it; however, they need to clean up a little bit the walls, chairs, and restroom but not big deal really. Will definitely come back.

We had a good meal here. My husband had the ceviche and I had the yuca and salad. My husband loved the ceviche and I really liked my food as well. Eduardo gave us great service. The food was fresh and delicious.

Heard many good things and finally managed to get a friend to grab takeout one night. The next morning, I woke up craving ceviche! I picked my sister up from the airport and went straight there for lunch in person the next day with our Mom. First try was a traditional preparation with Mahi, and the next day was from the Jax list with grouper, Mayport shrimp and calamari. Both were amazing. We each had a different preparation, and they were all delicious. You get a dish with the various spice blends and heat levels to try at the beginning and a very clear explanation of the menu from Eduardo! He walked us through everything. The menu is a bit tough to understand, but trust the man, he will not steer you wrong! I don’t drink beer, but the Peruvian beer they have there was getting rave reviews. They also have wine and are big on personality. I hope this place stays around for a LONG time. It is just what Jax needs… some fantastic ethnic food! Give them a try… and don’t bother looking at the menu on the website before you go, it won’t help. Just loosen up and let them help you! And enjoy!

We happened upon Ceviche Jax after a stroll on Atlantic Beach. The service was excellent. Justin our server explained the menu, gave us excellent recommendations and was funny. The food came out fast and our 21 year old girl loved the Papa huicana and rice. The wait stuff were great with her and she was happy talking to them. We ordered the ceviche and they have several kinds of sauce with levels of spice. All of them were delicious and the seafood was fresh. Can’t wait to go back.

I love this place! Eduardo is a super cool dude! Love to hear his crazy ass Panama surfing adventures. Aside from that, don’t me dissuaded by the location, this place has a great vibe and amazing food! It is a great addition of cultural variety that is very much needed at the beaches. I mean, I love fish tacos and all, but there is so much of the same thing, this place is a nice change of pac. Btw, Dennis is an awesome dude too! ;)

Eduardo was so helpful, informative and friendly! Great service. And the food… divine! Definitely go with the seafood and try the dishes with the rice-white bean purée on the side. So good!

We found this place via Unilocal while visiting Jax Beach. All the reviews were more than positive, so we thought it was worth a try. I’m glad we took a chance. The place was way above what we were expecting. The service was great(the wait staff were chatty and knowledgable about the menu), and the food was delicious. Beyond that, you get very generous portions, which is a nice change from other places that can be a bit skimpy. We will definitely return when/if we make it back to the area again. Highly recommend the place!

Food is outstanding! Fresh and delicious. Service was excellent and the staff is super knowledgeable about all the dishes. My only complaint is the ambiance /décor. The room is very small and very bland. There are even patches of wall with unfinished paint. BUT, the food is so good you forget about the room.

Fantastic! I was surprised to find such a gem in Jacksonville(a city that’s always seemed rather dull to me despite its size). The ceviche I had here is seriously the best I’ve ever had. Ceviche Jax sells both ceviche and other Peruvian staples. They offer fish, calamari, and shrimp ceviches and you’re allowed to mix these options. They also offer the ceviches in varying levels of heat and you can choose if you want it traditional(without cream) or ceviche Jax style(with). I got the traditional style and my fiancée got the Jax style. Both were excellent but I recommend going with the traditional if you want it really spicy. The sauce was so flavorful and delicious; It was hard to stop myself from eating it plain with a spoon once I finished the ceviche! Though the shrimp and calamari were both good, the fish was the best part. The portions here are really big; ceviche seems to often be served as an appetizer but the ceviche here is definitely entrée sized. It’s also priced about the same as the comparatively puny ceviches I’ve had at other places! I left Ceviche Jax very happy and full! I just wish I had one of these places closer to home!

I loved my dinner here! We made reservations for 8 at 6:30 on a Saturday and I’m glad we did. The restaurant is very small and busy. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. Our table ordered 5 of the appetizers and all of them were yummy except for the calamari. I wouldn’t recommend that one. My favorite was the steak appetizer and the muscle ceviche. For our main course I shared two dishes: the steak, plantains, and fried egg dish and the tacu tacu seafood dish. They both were perfect! Great flavor, great portion, completely satisfying.

I’ve now been here twice. The food has been great both times. Absolutely some of the best tasting food around! Especially for the adventurous eater. The service has been a tick below what I would expect or want for the prices. So my 5 Stars for food and 3 Stars for service became an overall 4 Stars… Both times there has only been one wait person on staff. The place is TINY, and I don’t think they are normally super busy, but I’ve been ever so slightly disappointed in the service both times. Not horrific service, just not great. On the plus side, both times the waiter on staff was knowledgeable about the menu and very helpful in ordering. So they are well trained on that aspect. The first time there was for dinner, the waiter was loud and overly boisterous. WAY too loud for the size of the place, his voice just boomed. He seriously needed to use his inside voice! Wouldn’t have been so bad if it was limited to just taking orders, but he was very chatty with all the patrons, just randomly having conversations across the room. It was not an enhancement to our dining experience. The second time here was for lunch, with a large group. There were 11 of us — we kinda maxed out the place. The person in charge of our group called the day before to let them know we were coming. But there was still only one wait person on staff — probably only one person in the kitchen too, based on how slow and erratic the food came out. The waiter again was courteous and knowledgeable, a different guy than my first experience, and this waiter had a normal speaking voice. But, since there were 11 of us and the place is so small, normal conversation got a little loud. There’s just no improving the fact that the place is small! My main disappointment in the service was that our waiter had to come back several times to confirm most orders. Strange since his knowledge of the menu was impressive and he had written all orders down on his pad. But for some reason, he couldn’t read his own writing! I think we overwhelmed him a bit. We seemed to overwhelm the kitchen too — the people who ordered ceviche were served first, then all the hot orders came out about 15 minutes later. Seemed a bit backwards to me. One last thing — I must ask, what’s up with the giant screen TV behind the bar? Both times I’ve been, they’ve had a soccer game on. Is this a sports bar or fine dining? The huge size of the TV in such a small place is very distracting… wish they would get rid of that!

Absolutely AMAZING! El Macho boarder line orgasmic. Can I just get this sauce in a cup. Don’t be fooled by the modest atmosphere, the food is 5 star fresh and prepared perfectly. Fast Eddy also a delight haha. Very personable. Two VERY enthusiastic thumbs up

The customer service at this place is unparalleled. The staff was super knowledge about food that could be tricky for a first timer. The manager and our waiter, Eduardo, were invaluable in selecting the«El Macho» fish which was stupid delicious and flavorful. Try the house seafood ceviche(level 3), you won’t be disappointed.

Peruvian joints are cropping up around the country. It’s no surprise that JAX has a handful from which to choose. For those that may not yet know; Peru is the epicenter of the potato. By this, I mean that the CIP(centro internacional de la papa) is appropriately located in Lima, Peru. This, therefore, means that ANY decent Peruvian joint is going to deliver on the spuds. I am fortunate enough to have a great Peruvian friend. We endured several years together — in close quarters. Through him, I understand the ways of his nation-state. Allie A. & Mark B. have both dined here — for those of you in the area that don’t know me, then you should certainly know these two. Suffice it to say that their commentaries are fast-tracked for pre-authorization in these parts and areas outward. Son had chaufa steak rice — a most authentic dish(one that replicates the Chinese food restaurants found in Peru). Daughter had churrasco– your straight-up skirt steak with rice and vegetables. I had what was presented as THE signature dish — the«El Macho». I must confess, it was quite good, and I’d even say this dish might make them drop if consumed by latent adolescents. Let me circle the wagons and focus on the ceviche. As far as I’m concerned, Ceviche is 1. Beach food in Peru, 2. Fish only. This ceviche was good — it really was. For those of you that don’t make it at home, you should love this. It’s good. It is served with huge-ass corn kernels and a wedge of potato. Hard to not love it. Dennis was our server. A genial guy — definitely knew the menu. Sangria was fine — incidentally, for those seeking to mimic Castilian sangria — remember to add Sprite/7-up.

This quaint little spot off Penman is easy to miss but, you need to check them out. As indicated by the name, ceviche, it is their specialty. However, even land-lubbers like me will find something delectable on their menu. The place is small which makes it comfortable and inviting to meet up with a friend or a few for lunch dinner or just a beer or two. Excellent service, he was experienced with the variety of dishes and Peruvian pallette. Sauces are prepared fresh daily and can add a little kick to your dish.

This small, unassuming little place is packed with excellent customer service that really goes above and beyond, and fresh flavors that will definitely pack a punch and leave you wanting more. Eduardo was beyond amazing, taking the time to explain each dish to perfection, making stellar recommendations, and really bringing it home with his easy going style and conversational service, that made for such a great time! So, yes this place is small, maybe can fit 20 – 25 folks in here, but we came in for lunch around 12:45 pm, and I was surprised to find plenty of open seats. I was starving as I was waiting on my dining companion, so I ordered the Shrimp Causa: an authentic Peruvian dish, served cold, with a yellow potato cake, with pepper and lemon and shrimp salad in the middle layer, with cream sauce. On top is a single glorious shrimp. I’m not an expert of Peruvian cuisine, but my best description is that it’s like a yummy seafood potato salad. Beautifully constructed and totally delicious, and perfect as a starter or for a hot day. I had to get ceviche, of course, and I went traditional with the Ceviche al toke,(3 pepper rating) with all the seafood, and upgraded to local grouper. Tangy and garlic-y, with a hint of spice, it was amazing. Each bite of seafood was super fresh, and the marinade rang with each bite. Next time, I’ll step up the spice level a bit, and maybe even drink the sauce left of my plate(leche de tigre, y’all…MEOW.) I’ll be back when I cross the ditch and I’ll get you next time, dessert!

This is my idea of a special spot, whether you are looking for that special dinner to take someone or food that you normally do not get anywhere else. Plus, it is in a location that screams«only locals know where I am». So, what kind of food can you expect, well saying«good food» would be an understatement. This is Peruvian food at its best. And while the title of the restaurant is called Ceviche and they have a long list of ceviche choices, they also have typical Peruvian faire like Loma Saltado, Chicha Morada and yucca accompanies everything. All the food I have tried has been good and plentiful and service has been outstanding. It is a small intimate restaurant, but it does not seem crowded or impersonal, in fact the only thing that annoys me is the 60″ tv that is always showing soccer. However, I know from Peruvian experience that this is the norm in Peru, so it simply means you are getting a traditional experience.(Seriously, their TV is as large as the length of the bar.). I will say, the highlight for my wife and I is the ceviche. It is well prepared, with fresh seafood and with approximately a dozen choices, you will always find something of interest. I always choose the Classico because I am not a fan of the heat, but my wife more than makes up for that as she orders heat, plus a side of heat and then requests more heat after she downs the other two. Normally we each choose a ceviche and share a dinner entrée as there is just so much food, but even then we end up taking some home. Great find if you are willing to step out into something that you cannot get just anywhere.
