It’s sad 2 years ago before this establishment changed ownership they had the best Ruben and potato salad I ever had. Now they have the worst Ruben and worst potato salad ever.

Need a box lunch to go beach or picnic? Check out NY Deli. Hand made reuben and a smoked turkey with pepper jack cheese and bacon was the order today. Great home made chips and pickle to round it out. She was picking fresh parsley out front for the macaroni salad when I was walking in. Friendly service and a thank you when I walked out the door. I will be back for more take out soon.

Would give 4.5 stars because it was little more expensive than I would have liked to pay for deli food, but overall just great. I had the Reuben and it’s way delicious and my wife had a deli sandwich that she loved. Would recommend to anyone looking for a lighter lunch.

So. I tried it again this time it was even worst and I took pics. The home fries was nasty. Green not done full of oil. The big sandwich was bad. Not sure if it was the bread or mayo. Never again wish the other owner or even the cooks could come back.

I thought that it was pretty good. Good portions and good taste. Service was a bit slow considering that they weren’t terribly busy but overall it was worth the wait I suppose. Prices were a bit high for my liking. Staff was friendly. All told it was good enough and I will come back.

Yummy salads, fantastic French Onion Soup and great sandwiches. So happy that this place is under new management with great people that know what they are doing!

Breath of fresh air after the short lived previous owner. Quality of the food is very consistent, fresh and delicious. Cliff, Mindy and crew opened in June, 2014… we became instant fans and as residents of Atlantic Beach we eat there at least once or twice weekly. Please try this jewel of a Deli… You will be glad you did!

Let me first say that I live in Atlantic Beach and have no friendship or prior knowledge of the owner. I have avoided this place like the plague because it was turned over to a new owner with bad food and service. That being said, it was a cold day here and my wife and I were headed over the causeway bridge when we saw that this place was advertising fresh soups. It got me to looking at recent reviews of the place on Unilocal and Trip Advisor. This is where we found out that there was indeed another owner who had taken over. Our favorite place the Ruddy Duck was packed with an hour wait, so I said let’s give this place a try. We were more than pleasantly surprised. My soup, French Onion, was as good as you get at a gourmet restaurant. My wife had a salad sampler that was so delicious that we bought more to take home. The ingredients were fresh and well prepared. She had chicken salad and broccoli salad with slaw that was out of the park. What is important is the people that run this place want genuinely to please you, they know what they are doing, and they will do anything to make it right. For out of towners or locals, this is a great place for lunch or breakfast. Why five stars? This is Atlantic Beach in the winter and this place is badly needed. It is excellently quality food.

This restaurant has new owners since the last time we ate there, but the food was still good. I especially like their broccoli salad. We bought pimento cheese to go and it was very good. I agree with one of the other reviewers that said they should find the previous bread supplier, theirs isn’t bad, but the previous one was fantastic.

This is not a NY deli. Save yourself $ 8 and never eat here. I just ordered the«Wallstreet», it came on a Kaiser roll and had 1 slice of roast beef on it. I basically paid for a roll with horseradish sauce.

It pains me to write this review. We have been going to The New York Deli for years. It is a destination for us when we come to the beach. We had heard that Jerry and Anne had retired but we hoped it still would have the same quality food. Unfortunately, it does not. When we walked in it did look clean and had a more open look(the chairs and tables had been crowded in there before). But looks can be deceiving. I noticed right away that they had mass-produced, store bought bread. The boars head meat sign was also gone. Not sure what kind of meat they are getting now. I ordered the Wall Streeter, which I have enjoyed many times in the past, and it was not the same. The meat was bland, with little flavor and the bread was not the yummy salty roll it used to be. The potato salad, which used to be creamy with a touch of pickly yumminess was bland and tasteless. The deli fries looked like they took ruffles and fried them. We walked out dejected and disappointed. We looked forward to our trip to this deli every year. Not anymore. I am giving it 3 stars because it wasn’t bad — just mediocre and certainly not a destination. They need to find the bread suppliers Jerry used and go back to using quality bread and meats. This is an out-of-the way place and needs much higher quality food to attract customers. We noticed at the height of the lunch hour, there were only a few people there. It used to be packed every time we came in.

Went there once and will never be back. The owner seemed to be confused/distracted during the order process. Then, my daughter and I had to sit and wait while a bunch of call in ‘to go’ orders were made. Finally, when all the staff left the kitchen, I asked about our food and the owner said ‘oh yeah and asked someone what happened to the order.’ She said, ‘it’s right up there.’ So, he gave me a bag and we left in a heavy rain storm. After driving all the way back to our condo in Indian Beach, we open up the bag. It was missing two bagels with lox for our kids. The sandwiches were light on the meat and not very tasty. When I called the place, the woman apologized and said the rest of our order was right there. I told her it was too far for us to drive back. She said the owner was too busy to talk to me(bad sign!) and she’d have to speak to him about giving me a partial refund then. She called back and told me he’d process it for me but never did. So, buyer beware on this one!

We love the NY deli! It’s our go-to lunch place while we’re at the beach. Their sandwiches are delicious: quality ingredients and well-made. The prices are reasonable. The owners are really friendly. I would absolutely recommend having lunch here!

I am a fan of this deli. There aren’t many deli here in the Morehead City/Atlantic Beach area that are locally owned & operated. New York Deli does good sandwiches such as the«Wall Streeter» which is roast beef & swiss on a kaiser roll with mustard and horseradish sauce. on Friday nights New York Deli has«pasta night.» The pastas are pretty good. I do recommend this deli to everyone. Keep in mind this is not a famous deli in New York City. Location A Food B Service C Décor C

«uh oh, you guys are from New York. I always have problems with people from New York.» This is a quote from Jerry, the owner of the«New York» Deli. I called ahead to make sure they had fresh bagels as we had to drive half an hour to get there. They assured me they did. This guy has more explaining to do than a pregnant nun. Their bagels are FROZEN! I’ve never experienced anything like this in my life. I’ll admit I’m a bit of a bagel snob but this is ridiculous. They are worse then supermarket bagels. Jerry, know why you have problems with people from New York? Because your attitude and your bagels suck. You know it too or else you wouldn’t tell people who actually expect edible food, «You don’t have to buy them you know». Change the name of your«restaurant» if you hate New Yorker’s so much. You«deli» is an affront to both NY and to deli’s. I only gave one star because Unilocal doesn’t allow zero. You have all been warned!

Alittle bit of New York in Atlantic Beach. This is a quaint rendition of a new York deli in the south. The sandwiches here are good. Not the worlds best but good enough to keep you satisfied. My corn beef Sammy was a bit dry. Teetering on dehydrated. But my friends roast beef tasted way better. The thing that stood out here was the pasta salad. That was yumminess. So this place isn’t something I’d dream about but it definitely gets the job done. I’d come back here for a health sandwich over fast-food any day.

Best potato salad I have ever had! It was creamy and flavorful and addicting. I was in Atlantic Beach for three days and I had two servings of it. The people there are friendly and the décor is eclectic. I got take out both times and was very impressed with the variety of meats that were offered. My favorite sandwich was the Reuben with turkey instead of beef. It had great dressing and rye bread. The hot relish was a nice addition to the other sandwich that I got to take out on the boat. They even wrapped it so that it was«cooler ready.» The egg sandwich on a sesame bagel was cooked to perfection and affordably priced.
