No wonder why people give 1 star only to this bicycle rental. Very poor selection of the bikes, I meant there isn’t any selection. Bikes are old and trashy. I am 6’1″ and I had to ride teenagers size bicycle, I mean I had be course unfortunately couldn’t find any other place to rent bikes for a day to ride Sandy Hook trail in the end of September.

Ok let me tell you about Mike’s. I previously used another bike shop 1 town over,(Shrewsbury Cycle) but I thought I’d give Mike’s a try. One of my son’s cable to the shifters were broken and needed to be replaced. I took the bike in to get both cables replaced(figuring if one failed, better to do both). I have had this done at the other shop and it is a $ 25 – 40 job. Mike said the job would be $ 30. Mike then convinced me the bike needed a full tuneup/adjustment etc for an additional $ 50, and the total came to $ 85 which he demanded payment when I dropped the bike off. While writing it up, he looks at the wheels, and even says the wheels were aligned, and that I was lucky they were ok. It gets worse. When I go to pick the bike up a week later, he tells me that there was a problem, and that I need to pay another $ 20 because he had to align the wheels. When I reminded him that he himself had told me the wheels were fine when I dropped them off, he backed up a bit, and then said the wheel was slightly out of alignment. So all in all, a cable job which would have cost $ 30 at Shrewsbury Mike ripped me for over $ 100. Worse than that when I asked him specifically what he did as part of the tuneup he started to talk about adjusting and oiling the cables etc. The point is he also charged me labor and parts for the cables he replaced, so he double charged for that too. Stay away, star far away from this ripoff shop. The only reason I paid the extra $ 20 was that he would not give me my bike back if I did not. IMNEVERGOINGBACKTHERE… RIPOFF…
