Just traveling through and found this little gem. Fantastic and friendly service, delicious macchiato, a hot one for me, an iced one for my friend. Quiet atmosphere with several small and cozy rooms providing an intimate atmosphere. Also many books to read if you prefer.

I was surprised to find a nice little coffee shop in a random small town, away from the interstate. It seems to be a central fixture in the community, so I hope they succeed and continue to stay in business. Brass tax: they have a pretty good cup of coffee. Worth a stop if you’re around.

Atlantic is my third stop on a photographic tour of two-lane highway roadside attractions. Pining for a decent cup of hot water infused with beans I asked around town for the local shop. Not many people knew of this hidden gem, but am quite certain that the word will soon be out. Wendy, the über friendly proprietor, has the ability to speak with all walks; old church ladies, retired teachers and professors, farm folk and the occasional city slicker from Chicago. My first day at the Shoppe was spent at her sidewalk table. In between customers she would join me in the crisp air to learn my story and kindly share hers. I can honestly say that today, my second day of lounging in small town Americana is even grander with a coffee in hand from Sweet Wendy. Amazing gelato, swell paninis, dandy chocolates, strong coffee, rich espresso and hearty soups makes you forget all about the coloric nightmares that are the rest of Atlantic’s restaurants.
