America’s Best Defense

America’s Best Defense is no longer a respectable studio, the martial arts world laughs at it. It has become a money centered place that no longer hold on to its core values, they use kids for unpaid labor or nickel and dime you every chance they get. They even keep around people who are abusive because they are paying money instead of upholding martial arts principals. Think of the karate kid, the mean bully and the kid trained by the master. If ABD was in that movie I am sure the bully would be from this school. The place is a cult, drink the kook-​aid it is an unhealthy environment for both adults and children and I would not recommend it to anyone. Take it from a person who trained 13 years, they screw over everyone including there so called «friends» and are also religiously obsessed. If you want to have every aspect of your life controlled this is the place for you.

I have been training at this school since it was first opened. I have earned my black belt in martial arts and currently train in krav maga. The krav taught at ABD is legit! The teachers are all highly skilled and go the extra mile to ensure their students get the best training possible. I have recommend many people over the years to this school and they have always been satisfied with the self defense provided. It’s not just a martial arts acadamy, it’s a family!

HORRIBLE studio. Number ONE priority is MONEY and a close second is CONTROL. Owner actually had a picture in his lobby because he made the cover of PROFIT magazine. Owner is a megalomaniac who, if you don’t idolize and follow, are cast aside and are treated so miserably and like outcasts, that you WANT to leave. The «instructors» are all indoctrinated into the flock and are completely controlled. They are an embarrassing group of automatons to their MASTER. Owner MUST be called Master. No gays EVER tolerated or allowed or you are sent out for deprogramming or you may never come back. He is an ingenious businessman and very charismatic, like Jim Jones. Don’t want to drink the Kool-​Aid? You are treated like dirt. Parents beware!!! Go somewhere where your child will be taught self defense, not intolerance. They break up relationships, families, and do the OPPOSITE of what you went there in the first place for. SO MANY other excellent studios out there.
ADDENDUM — I find it absolutely HYSTERICAL that there have been NO reviews on here for two years, and the VERY DAY I write a negative post, wouldn’t ya guess it? TWO appear that are 4 stars!!! How much did he pay you for those??? Microbots.

I enrolled here to learn Krav Maga, what I learned instead was what a McDojo meant. This school promotes you every 3 months (deserved or not) and the classes are large enough where you can learn techniques, and never get corrected if you don’t have it right. Then after 6 months they wanted people to pay an extra $ 40 a month for what they called «black belt training». Essentially if you want to be a black belt fast without really knowing martial arts and don’t mind getting nickel and dimed… Then this school is for you.
