Capron Park Zoo

Small zoo with even smaller exhibit options in the winter months. Less interaction and up close views/​cage free views than surrounding zoos. No outside food/​drink allowed either. On the plus side, there are cute mechanical rides for the kids at 50 cents a piece, a small sandbox area and a full playground really close by. Of course, you can get these options and more at Roger Williams BUT at a higher priced admission. I think it’s worth it as my typical Capron visit is 1 – 1.5 hours and Roger Williams is 2 – 2.5 hours simply due to all you see. At $ 7 vs $ 25 for admission costs, Capron is worth what you pay and more. Just keep in mind it’s not a full afternoon worth of activity. If that’s what you need, head to Roger Williams and fork out the cash.

I took my sister and niece here they are from up north and WOW is what I have to say.
What a great way to spend a day with little ones. It was $ 5 bucks a person and the animals were beautiful! The staff was great, the park was super clean, and we had so much fun.
Seriously spend the day here, bring food, have a picnic, you will be glad you did!

It is a very nice zoo and clean. I was surprised to see a splash pad inside the zoo. Be sure to pack bathing suits and water shoes. There were many animals to see including see otters, animals of the dark (I.e. armadillo and others), rainforest house, and many traditional zoo animals.
This was our first trip there and plan on going back in the future.

This is a fantastic zoo for people with small kids. Even without the out of town discount, it only came to $ 25 for two adults and two paying kids.
It has kangaroos, ducks, llamas, lions, leopards, snakes, and a bunch of other animals. The whole thing takes about an hour.
If your kids aren’t big enough for the «real» zoo, this is a fantastic option.

It’s a fun zoo… reasonably priced. It has an interesting mix of animals to which you can get fairly close. There is also a playground right outside for some added fun. Bring quarters too feed the goats and llamas. Fun splash pad for kids beat the heat. The snack bar is average at best, but they have a good selection and the price falls in line (or slightly below) with what you would expect at a family entertainment place. Easily walkable for little kids.

This zoo is my favorite for my two year old son. It is inexpensive ($ 7 for adults, or $ 55 for an annual family membership,) has plenty of animals, a splash park, a nice outdoor eating area, and a playground.
The large exhibits could be nicer in my opinion, but I think the zoo is doing the best they can.
I recommend that one bring quarters to feed the goats and llama!
The Capron Park Zoo has a variety of animals: Sloth bear, Leopard, Three lions, Lemurs and much more.
It is perfect for young children, as well as old. The size is not overwhelming and I think it is an exceptional value!

Fun cute little zoo. There’s not a crazy amount of animals but they do have a pretty impressive selection ranging from kangaroos to lions to otters. The animals all look they are well taken care of. They also serve some pretty delicious food there. The mozzarella sticks are to die for!

Fantastic size for 2 under 3’s to be running around. The lion put on a great performance for them, with back and belly rolls, roars and even a piddle and a poo made them chuckle. Great selection of animals for footprint. Will be back– great value, only down side, no food inside and no outside food permitted in. Stamp to check out and in on hand works, but little inconvenience with two en tow.

I love this place. This was the park i went to as a child and am now bringing my daughter. It’s just the right size for smaller kids and has a cute, fun zoo that doesn’t take long to navigate. They also feature a splash pan for the kids to play at. The playground is in great condition and is safe. The fields are great to lay a blanket down and spend an afternoon reading. I will continue to bring my child here an a hopefully one day, my grandchildren.

Great smaller zoo nestled into a small town. Definitely worth the price of admission, and DEFINITELY worth getting the yearly membership as it gets you into a few other places around the state for free or at a discounted rate.
There were a lot of neat animals in there that you don’t see at a lot of the zoos. And the splash park would be great if you have children. When we went the snack bar was not open, but seemed reasonable.

Perfect for small children and needing a couple hours for a break. Make sure to have extra quarters to feed the goats and the ducks.

I had my five year olds son birthday party here back in June. It was great! The employees presented some little animals in their birthday room, everyone in the party got to stay for as long as they wanted in the park. Which was great because we moved to the splash park! Over all the kids loved it. Loved learning about the animals they brought in. I would definitely book a party with them again.

Certainly not the best or largest zoo around but it’s great for what it is and perfect for my toddler. We had her 3^rd birthday party here which was a great time for the parents and kids alike. The best part? It’s all inclusive… The only thing I needed to worry about was buying the invitations! Def great for smaller children.
Bring quarters so you can feed the llamas/​ducks!

Capron Park is a great, smaller zoo that we enjoy going very much. We live close by, so it’s a great spot for a quick visit as it is easy to get in and out of and does not take too long to go through. They have a nice water play area too for toddlers. Our daughter is not old enough yet, but I’m sure we’ll be bringing her to this a lot next summer.

This is probably the best zoo that I have visited in the RI & MA area! The admission price is insanely cheap for a zoo that has lions, monkeys, bears, kangaroos, and so much more — if you are a resident of Attleboro, MA, admission is only $ 5.50; if you’re a person that doesn’t think driving into Attleboro, MA is an absurd idea, admission is $ 7. All of the animals’ habitats were extremely clean and spacious. Moreover you could actually spot the animal in the habitat!!! This place is only 15 mins away from the Wrentham Outlets — I would recommend everyone to stop by for a visit!

I visited the Capron Park Zoo yesterday with the 18 month old I nanny for. It was just the right size to cover in about an hour. Admission is cheap, but I opted for the individual year membership for $ 25.
The animals were all pretty small, which I appreciate for a small zoo. The loins were the biggest and they made me a but sad because they didn’t have much room. Other tan that there were kangaroos, pigs, monkeys and birds.
The playground was a hit. We will definitely be back to try the splash pad as the weather gets warmer.

I have been coming here since I was about 5 and came back a few years ago and loved how they have grown and improved. They are still very small but perfect for young children. They now have a new water sprinkler section for kids. I was impressed at how inexpensive it was. $ 7 if you live outside of Attleboro and less expensive if you live there. They have a good variety of animals. They are open year round weather permitting. The only negative is if you go in the winter some animals are not there due to the cold. They have a huge parking lot with plenty of parking and great playground and picnic area just outside the Zoo. I love coming here with my 2 year old niece. It is definitely worth checking out.

What a cute place! Nestled right by the park which is large & sprawling. The animals were quite active that day so it made the visit even more memorable. My family members volunteer there so we were able to peek behind the scenes and meet some of their education animals. SO CUTE! Except for the Cobra — he was creepy! Its on the smaller side as far as zoos go but its perfect for kids & families, clean & easy to navigate. :)

It’s a small zoo but it’s perfect for my small son. He actually was wowed by the playground out front but we ventured into the zoo anyway.
A nice collection of animals. The lions were lazy as were the sloth bears. The crane was making some noise and the llama was more than happy to eat some kibble.
We walked around for about an hour or so and my son (2.5 yrs) had fun. He kept asking for the playground so we headed over there.
On the way out we bought a bag of popcorn and it was only a dollar. I was shocked — I’m used to being raked over the coals for things like that at a place like this — but not a Capron. I was so happy I bought another! ;)
Looks like they have a water park feature that was being done over. And a white alligator exhibit on the way.

You will find Capron and zoo to be one of Southern New England’s hidden treasures. Nestled amidst a park and a playground, I wish I had discovered this little jewel years ago as it is one of few things that makes me approve when I think about where our tax dollars are headed. This is an outstanding place for small children to come and play because the park involves a nice, big playground that flanks a small, but compelling zoo that also has a park of its own. The playground is actually a good thing because the zoo does not open until 10am but if your little ones need to get out of the house, it gives just enough to do while you wait for the zoo to open.
I am writing this review from the point of view of a parent with small children who are the target audience, but the zoo itself is exceptional even for people who do not have children but are interested in taxonomy, biology or animals. While the explanations of the creatures are a bit limited and aimed at a very simple target audience, the actual animal collection is varied and quite exotic, sporting a large number of rare specimens that you might not get to see even at larger, more specialized zoos like Roger Williams Park and Zoo. More importantly, many of the zoo’s denizens such as its wart pigs or lorises are endangered and part of a program to help save these unique beasts lest they disappear forever.
Once the children tire of the numerous exhibits, they will find many other local children romping and playing at a mini playground within the zoo and a dedicated park area where they can run around and release energy before going home. The zoo itself is clean, is not staffed very extensively, and is actually very small and navigable so that even a walking 1 ½ — 2 year old can walk most of it without getting exhausted, and slightly older children will not have any fatigue issues which can be a problem at the other, larger local zoo at Roger Williams Park. On that note, Capron Zoo is smaller and a bit less overwhelming; I’d highly recommend it as our favorite zoo
Of note there isn’t much food on the premises except a soda machine and popcorn in the main office, so plan on bringing other foods if your little ones are likely to be hungry.
The cost is 7 dollars a head, slightly less if you can prove you’re from North Attleboro whose residents’ tax revenue goes to fund this zoo. I recommend the family membership as it is tax deductible, so you can save when you go more than 1 ½ times, which you will, because your children will love it.
If you’re considering this little treasure, I’d give it a try. If you’re considering buying the membership, I recommend doing it the very first day you’re there before you leave, that way you can ask at the cashier’s desk to have what you paid for admission offset some of the membership cost so you don’t pay twice.
