ehh… i was kinda disappointed. i used to go to the buddy’s in farmington hills all the time because my sister worked there. this location is different. less drink options and different soups. the farmington hills location had broccoli soup that i loved… this location had totally different soups: tortilla, tomato, minestrone and chicken noodle. as for the food, i don’t have pizza there as it makes me sick. i had the macaroni and cheese. the half order is a good size and it’s delicious, same as other locations. my dad had the spaghetti, he liked it. one weird thing was that complimentary rolls came out not before the food but at the same time…

The pizza can range anywhere from«out of this world» to «meh.» The cheese is perfect and the sauce has a very distinct and pleasant spicy flavor. But at times they put too much sauce and the pizza becomes soupy. They really need to train the kitchen staff to clean up the inconsistency.

Love the square pizza here. If you’re from out of town, you need to experience this Detroit special. As a vegetarian, we usually don’t spice it up too much, but we do load up on the veggies. The pizza dough itself has a great texture and taste to it, and the sauce they use has to have some magic powder in it, because it is incredible. They’re very generous with toppings, and the staff is very helpful and accommodating. The atmosphere is a perfect pizza parlor, with tvs playing sports games, an enthusiastic bar in the back, etc. The melted pizza cheese with some rich jalapenos… mmmm

I don’t know what all the hype is about this place. The pizza was great(not the best) and the service was good — but the price is outrageous. I actually felt ripped off when I left there. It’s just PIZZA, people. I’ve been once, but probably won’t go back. We know a few ‘Mom and Pop’ places that easily destroy Buddy’s pizza on flavour and price.

Ordered the detrioter and fajita square size pizza! Definitely thick pizza! Love the sauce! A bit on the oily side for my taste. The fajita one just kind of fell short for me. Loaded up on so many onion toppings I had to start picking them off. There are lots of toppings, may try different kinds next time The mozzarella sticks and garlic bread were a miss for me.

Buddy’s pizza with the granddaughter what a great evening. She ordered the soup and she finished the entire Bowl she did give Papa a little taste and I thought the soup was very good. Service was awesome I believe they must get some of the wait staff from Oakland University which is very close by. We ordered a pizza with half pepperoni and half plain. When we got the pizza we could not tell which was which but the waiters helped us out perfectly. Buddy’s pizza can’t go wrong very good and very consistent. Nice crispy crust and just enough cheese.

Great, amazing food! And let me start by saying that I’ve worked in the service industry for years, so I hate to leave a bad review. However, we had the worse absolute and most rude server. Never went over the menu, never asked if we had any questions, not even a smile.(Name was caitlynn) Wasn’t friendly from the start. Especially since the menu was pretty complex. My food came out wrong. She didn’t really seem to care. Then I could see her, from our table, mocking me and complaining about me being upset that my pizza was wrong. Totally unacceptable as a server. At least go in the back where customers cannot see you. Then as I watched the manager void it off the check, as she rang in my original pizza I wanted, he never even came over to the table. Such a shame because this place has great food – however I would recommend getting take out.

Haha first pizza I ever had in Michigan after my medical school interview here in the dead of winter January 13′. Nostalgia. Was the first time I was ever introduced to Detroit square style pizza. It’s not exactly a deep dish and is not exactly a regular pizza either. I have definitely learned to love it though as I go to OU now and frequent this quite often as my macros allow. My favorite is the Detroiter Pizza. It is topped with cheese, pepperoni, dollops of tomato basil sauce, topped with shaved parmesan cheese, and Buddy’s signature Sicilian spice blend. Will continue to frequent here and also my other go to pizza place Hungry Howie’s! Cheers! Pro tip: coupons online. Show them on your phone. There’s also an OU discount if you’re a student.

Excellent service and the best pizza in metro Detroit. This location is especially good.

Buddy’s was the first pizza place I tried when moving to the metro Detroit area. It’s been difficult to top this visit and it’s been three years. Although the price may be higher than a standard chain’s pizza, this pizza is definitely worth the splurge on special occasions. If you like your pizza a little spicy, get the Sicilian Spice Blend on your pizza — a must. Lots of great ingredients that lead to a well-made pizza.

First time back to Buddy’s Pizza in 10 years. Still wonderful pizza! If you like thick crust, cheesy, and sauce on top of the cheese, this is definitely a place to try. We had their Super and the Hawaiian. Both very different flavors and both very delicious. On the evening we visited this location, we were catching up with local friends. The place was very busy but our party of 4 was seated promptly. Our server was very attentive, watchful to allow us time to talk/catch up, but checking regularly to make sure we were ready to order. Looking forward to a trip to Buddy’s again on a future visit to the area.

I can’t really tell if I actually hate deep dish pizza or if I had somehow convinced myself that I had always hated it because of an isolated experience(like the brief period of time during my tween years when I had abstained from eating popcorn because I thought I was allergic to it, when really I do have memories of eating it in kindergarten but telling teachers I was allergic to it after I got sick of eating it every single day during movie time. Is being allergic to popcorn even a common thing?). But Buddy’s has some gr8 pizza! Vegan-friendly!!! I tricked my carnivorous dad into trying the Tuscan Veggie Pizza and he said it was very good before I cackled and roguishly divulged the big secret. lmao

Each time I come here I want to like them, but I cant. Pizzas have less and less sauce wtf. Not the cheapest pizza place so can at least make it worth it.

Being new to Michigan, Buddy’s pizza was on my list of «must try» food places. I have to say that it didn’t disappoint! The antipasto salad was delicious, and a generous portion for one serving. Next time I’ll ask for dressing on the side so I can take it home. Ordered the Detroiter based off of recommendations and it was delicious, gooey, cheesy and square! The sauce was a little different then what I was used to(a little tangy for me) but I still really enjoyed the pizza. I’ll definitely be back to try the other pizzas!

This place is always great. The pizza is always perfect, the salads are crisp and fresh every time. Been going here for years. From college years to lunch hours, Buddy’s is always a great choice. My only negative would be the décor, this location could use an update.

The SO and I tried a slice of this famous pie a couple of days ago. The server was attentive and helpful and the restaurant was very clean. We ordered some mozzarella sticks(not my idea — I adore cheese, but think mozzarella sticks are the devil). The SO said they were alright. So they have decent mozzarella sticks apparently? However, I am not reviewing them because the pizza should be the star and mozzarella sticks are inherently flawed. The pizza was … meh. GQ magazine apparently mentioned Buddy’s as being really great, particularly their unique cheese blend and tomato basil sauce. We tried the pizza mentioned and it was sort of greasy, there wasn’t a lot of sauce to speak of, and the crust didn’t have a really great flavor. As someone who loves pizza, I was very disappointed. For all of the hubbub, this is definitely not amazing pizza. I’d choose Antoniou’s deep dish over this any day. On the plus side, this is in a great location for Oakland University students(GOGRIZZLIES!) and there is OU bling there.

My 8 square pepperoni was perfect! My antipasto salad was a little too light on the dressing, but shame on me for not saying anything. The cheese sticks(not my usual order, but a friend’s) were really good and actually handmade and not frozen. BUT the highlight is that I got not one but two bottles of Buddy’s vinaigrette to take back to Arizona! The only thing that would have made this better was a slice of the Hawaiian, which has a sweet and sour sauce vs. pizza sauce. Yum.
